I’m 64 and a based boomer. I’ve spent most of my work life in manufacturing, and I’ve died on more than one hill in my day. This young man’s insight into the work world is far more realistic and practical all of the out-of-touch boomer managers, recruiters, HR types, career coaches who shill for employers and their brother in arms ever had.

Young people please don't start a family or get pregnant at this time. Companies/Government/organizations have no loyalty to employees they will turn on you in a second when its convenient and fire/replace you. Governments are also increasing authoritarianism while helping the Globalist elites to consolidate all wealth/power. To ensure no slavery like life, girls should remember to take the birth control pill daily and both guy/girl should use protection and consider Tubal Ligation which is a quick procedure. You will just condemn your new child to increasing poverty and freedomless slavery and these control/money/job trends worsen. The system in all countries ks getting worse now and children born now will suffer. Imagine your child living in a technically advanced meaning more brutal total surveillance Communist or dictatorship style society as that is the planned future if you choose to have kids. So by having children you are purposely causing them to be born to a life of suffering for your own selfishness in a way.

@@TheAlchemist1089 If my company offers severance pay for getting let go, I'd first compare what they're offering to that severance package. But even then, they'd likely have to offer more than what the severance package is in the terms of employment.
Accepting $2,000 to quit means in almost all cases that you're not eligible for unemployment, which is the biggest reason not to accept it.
I'd rather collect unemployment while searching for a new job than take fake generosity from a company that's actually just trying to save a buck at my expense.

    I'll tell you one better....
I worked for Barnes and Noble Booksellers for eight years. I, like many of my coworkers, were part timers. So, instead of firing me, or saying "sorry, we have to lay you off", they simply stopped scheduling me. I went from 25 hours a week to zero overnight. I foolishly waited about a month, calling in every week to ask if I were on the schedule. After that I just went and found another job. I was too naive to know that this was a layoff and that I could have collected unemployment or underemployment compensation. (Keep in mind this happened in a Right to Work state.)

Even with lay offs companies will still try to screw you over. I was laid off when businesses shut down in 2020 and filed for unemployment. I got payments for a while then they stopped, resumed, and stopped again. Just two months ago I got a call from a middleman saying my previous company was disputing my unemployment filing and subsequent payments because they re-offered me a job in 2021. This didn't happen, and I told the middleman that. Also, the company was a year too late in disputing the claim, it shouldn't have stopped payments in the first place. Well, just last month I got all of the pay that they had held back and a notice saying the hold had been lifted. If I hadn't picked up the call or called the middleman back in 2 days, the case would've been won by the company and I would have to pay back thousands. The system in place is downright atrocious.

I worked at an enterprise server manufacturing facility for a major computer company. In 2010, after three weeks of mandatory overtime, we put out record-breaking numbers for our factory.
Unfortunately, in 2010, our CEO at the time decided to go toe-to-toe against Apple in the tablet department, and the company got its butt handed to it. The CEO was fired after less than a year (although he still pocketed a golden parachute worth several million dollars).
Despite enterprise server production being unrelated to tablet production, the company decided that our factory needed downsizing. But for the reasons shown in this video, they wanted to avoid layoffs if at all possible.
Instead, they instituted a point system. If you were absent -- for ANY reason, no exceptions -- you got one point. If you were late, you got half a point. Accumulate enough points and you're instantly released.
Then, they moved one of the punch-in clocks to another part of the building. This meant that ALL of the factory workers had to funnel through a single clock to swipe their badge and clock in. If you wanted to be on time to your job, you actually had to show up twenty minutes early to stand in line.
Using this method, they successfully fired huge swathes of the factory, before outsourcing our jobs to cheaper locations.

Thanks for the great info. A few months ago I was pushed out of my Management position cause I was not a "sheep". I built the organization from the ground up and integrated myself into almost every function that it runs off of. Helps that my background is IT and pretty good with technology. I was pushed to another position thinking I am going to train my replacement and provide all my tools.... they have another thing coming if they think they will get it all for free, thinking of becoming their consultant and giving myself a major raise. Funny thing is that since I have been viewing your videos I have made many changes that have started to open doors not just with other sites within my organization that want to absorb me but external companies somehow got a whiff of what happened to me and have extended offers. Crazy that a little mindset change can open so many doors all at once. Always have to have a mind of abundance and realize that layoffs or toxic environments are part of today's world.
Thanks again Joshua. Keep them coming.

One way you know you're getting a terrible deal is when the other party uses pressure tactics. Like "reply by midnight". Give me a break.
Same deal with severance agreements. NEVER sign anything on the spot. The law is on your side. You don't have to sign immediately. Don't listen to an employer who says you get nothing if you don't sign immediately. That's nonsense. Say you will take some time to review it and then get in contact with an employment lawyer.

It's a marketing tactic, just like the websites that claim you are getting an amazing deal by purchasing an item, but you have to place the order within 15 minutes. It gives a sense of urgency that is entirely fake, because they will just extend the deadline until they get what they want.

When American employers were taught by Ronnie Reagan to deny former employees any compensation for years of service.
The US work force were screwed for 30-35 years, after 2015/2016 the American market started to change drastically. With remote working and the unbelievable success of remote work for employees, an attitude was being to show it ugly head to corporate America, and they could do nothing. 3 years and counting ,and the American attitude is getting worse. It is simple. If you want my talent and services, you will pay me a fair wage, fair benefit package comparable to the world market , not the highly political and anti union American market. I pray for my children's sake this attitude keeps on going and America finally gets back to fair and equitable employment

I worked at whirlpool, and they fired 800 people in two months a couple years ago by slowly finding a reason. After call work, bathroom breaks, handle time. After a couple weeks, we knew our coworker being fired for having to piss too much meant they wanted to lay them off but didn't want to pay severance.

    2000$ ????
    Seriously???
In Germany, if you get a termination contract, most companies pay you 3 months salary of severance pay.
Meaning, if an employer wants to offer that, it must be AT LEAST 12.000 $ tbh

When I worked at a startup called TheatreDNA, they tried to do the exact same thing to me, except they told me through my employment rights attorney that they would give me $500 if I resigned. I didn't accept that, and a little over a week later, they gave me a "Lay Off Notice" & a "Severance Agreement" letter. The "Severance Agreement" letter stated that if I signed the letter, they would pay me $5000 & wouldn't dispute my unemployment claim, but if I signed it, I would waive them of all wrongdoing. I still haven't signed that Severance Agreement, which is why I can talk about this. I'm willing email these documents to you, and if you want to do a video about what I dealt with at TheatreDNA, go for it, Joshua.

It'll be funny if ALL of the regular staffs of that company resign at once and claim that 2.000 bucks. Then the CEO realize that he/she made a mistake and rehire them again. CEO always make mistakes and regret later. My aunt wanted a higher position but her former CEO refused and chose another employee instead, so she did what every smart people does, find a company that can give her that position. She got a house, a car, a better position, and a bigger salary and her former boss begged for her to comeback lmao.

Likely case: You get laid off, get unemployment, and your job search is already well under way

I'm an employee for one of the companies doing massive layoffs and they are taking a particular route in doing this. However, it is not bad as a branch of the company firing employees without this particular offer. And good reason.
You see I live in [REDACTED] state and we don't have labor protection laws for unemployement like others. If you are fired in this state for justification or whatever else, you can't go for unemployment. This includes poor work performance or whatever else. People are scared they are going to lose their jobs suddenly and not have any kind of safety net to fall back on because they've suddenly lost their job with barely any time to look for a new one. Atleast for my company, it's "Well we'll give you two weeks and if you leave now, we'll atleast give you 2k and put you on record you quit on your own terms so you can't apply for benefits or anything."
It's so disgusting, and the worst part is the law is on their side.

    • @shinzer56
      @shinzer56 2 ปีที่แล้ว

To delve further into this without getting TOO detailed with personal information that involves me, I've seen the official memos and reports they are spewing down the line to explain these giant layoffs. Apparently, "We aren't doing any work".
      That's the tl;dr
The real problem is that we've had an AI implemented into our tech work which helps to automate a lot of processes for us in the line of field. What part of our work was, was that this AI is actually EXTREMELY terrible at this and we are there to monitor and correct it for the individual uses of consumers. However, at an undisclosed moment in time, the company has shifted the default to the AI working solo with customers have to manually request use of AI supervision. And this is for work that is supposed to be important for accuracy.
      A real headscratcher, right?
Because they've done this, they now have used statistical manipulation to show customers "prefer" this AI over having the help of a real time person. So they can then use this supposed data and reasoning to cut 1/3rd the work force.
and to top it all off?
We are suppose to be a company which helps and supports those with physical disabilities. Now these people will have to rely on cheap automation that doesn't even work.

  • @MrSquishles

honestly place is a tire fire if it's come to this and if you're a tech worker. a 2k check on a time bombed offer? lol. send your resume out take your time getting a nice 20% raise, and quit without notice when it's convenient for you.

X'er. Most of my career has been layoffs and temp jobs. My longest FTE was waiter, I think. The rest of the "professional" world has been layoffs, temporary gigs, and one serious load of BS at a fang. They kept pushing out my PTO until I got burned out. Then I got a PIP. I already had the work done they required but I knew it would crush them if they didn't get it. So I took the offer to leave and left w/ my code. Now their department is pretty much automated. When I burnt that bridge that fire spread.

Unfortunately, not every state has that great of unemployment. Louisiana's maximum weekly unemployment rate is $275. That was after years of it being at $252. The employers run the labor board so they can keep it ridiculously low. You can have claims denied for random things. They almost always side with the employer.
