    Thank you so much for sharing. I'm still fairly new to the disabled world myself since being diagnosed with the Variant of ALS 7 yrs ago. Currently, I still walk with the assistance of a rollator and use a power wheelchair part time for ALS clinic visits and long distances. With you being injured at such a young age do you have any further problems with your back or spine?

      Yes. I had developed scoliosis at a young age from being in the wheel chair all the time. Right now I’m seeing tons of specialists, and doing psychical therapy, along with trying a few different medications. There is a 45 degree angle in my spine that they are concerned about. So right now I’m trying all the other alternatives to slow the progression of the scoliosis down. If that doesn’t help I could have to have a very dangerous and invasive spine surgery.

    Keisha your are the unstoppable force. I have been such a pansy every time I was wheelchair bound. Im being really careful and thankfully mobile from cortisone shot to shot. I hope to have a well thought out Mini van for my Mom and then myself before I have to do this. Thanks for posting this is inspiring and hopeful. Im gonna get of my lazy but and get moving double time now.

    I just now saw this video. You did a good job with it. I hope you you've gotten your new chair by now. That would definitely make it easier not having to use the power chair outside.
    My question is how in the world did you manage to get a power chair before a manual? I know every case is different but I had to blow out my shoulders before I could get a power chair. Also, you're lucky to have such a great lil helper. Thanks for the video.

    Did you get something to protect your car from scratches? I don't know of a product, though you could probably find it. I also heard some use a towel or something when they are moving their manual wheelchair in and out of the car. 😊

    Hi Keisha! I just came across your channel so I'm not caught up... I too am paraplagic (almost 2 years) but I use a transfer board to transfer. Is that something you could use to bridge the gap especially to try to get into your manual chair? My manual chair isn't fitted to me, either.

    • @keishaleahy4628
      @keishaleahy4628  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes a transfer board would help tremendously. I need to get one of those!

    Wouldn't it be easier with a van and the ramp?

    • @keishaleahy4628
      @keishaleahy4628  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It more than likely would be easier. But I’m not ready to give up my car just yet and get a van! Stubborn I know! 😜
