The two Gordian Knot albums have remained perennial favorites of mine. There’s so much to discover in their music - and it all has this ethereal beauty.

    "I wanted more!"
We all wanted more, Bryan, we all did. Seans were only 48 and 50 when they passed away. I could listen, watch them play and talk about music forever. Both had one of the most unique, recognizable styles on their respective instruments.
All GK/Cortlandt albums are masterpieces, and that's a very rare case it's definitely not an overstatement. And you still haven't heard anything from the classic Cynic album yet :)

Finally!!! This song has been needing a reaction for years and this is the first reaction channel to do it. Cheers Jared for the recommendation. This guitar solo is pure magic.

Every time I hear this band I really miss Sean R.I.P.
On this particular song there's also the guitar work from Ron Jarzombek which I don't believe you have checked in your channel yet: He's a super interesting guitar nerd type of guy so if you're ever in for the more chaotic side of prog/math rock check out Spastic Ink.

The three composers on this song were Glenn Snelwar, Sean Malone, and Sean Reinert (resp. guitarist, bassist, and drummer). You reacted to Glenn's At War With Self project previously and he made major contributions to the Gordian Knot albums. In addition to the solos by Ron Jarzombek that others have mentioned, it's worth noting that this song also features a touch guitar solo by Trey Gunn of King Crimson.

Finally!!! And oh my god! You thought and described the essence of this song just like I think of it! Whattö? 😮 This is the first time in my life, when someone get exactly same feeling and thoughts from a song, that has no vocals and lyrics telling you the story of the song. Music as it's purest form.

Oh my god this is soooo good. Sean Malone and Sean Reinert were the bassist and drummer in the band Cynic an avant garde 90's prog death (fusion ?) band with this Florida death metal vibe that I really like. I think you did a few videos on them. Also their latest album is really good and worth checking out but a bit different(I supposed it has been composed mainly by Paul Masvidal since Sean Malone and Reinert passed away :'( . He is also the singer from Aeon Spoke) . As always great video thanks for the discovery !

So much very interesting rhythm changes in this one. This is the kind of progmetal/rock I love very much.

That ending Ron Jarzombek solo is so damn GORGEOUS, that I always almost forget to breathe, when I hear it; quite literally breathtaking! 👌
Ron is the 'mad scientist' of guitar playing; his solos are often more akin to a mathematical equation put to music, but here, he shines melodically and harmonically!
Check out his work in WatchTower, Spastic Ink or Blotted Science; the man is a genius! 🤘

Hi Bryan! I see so many reaction videos that you are doing, and the captions are almost always so positive. I am not watching all of your videos bcs I don't know the bands sometimes haha. So can you please consider making a top20 songs that you most liked recently? or maybe in 2024? I think it will be a good wrap-up. Thanks!

I release a couple of "my favorite albums of the year" videos in each January and I meant to do a mid-year roundup back in June but time got away from me. I might start keeping track of some of my favorite songs that I reacted to and making a "Top 10 of the month" or something like that. Something to make the torrential amount of videos I release a little more digestible :)

Lead guitar and bass in the beginning of the track reminds me of Dream Theaters bass/guitar “battles” , very talented musicians with good taste - no overplaying.
Luckily no vocals , I’m a total instrumental music freak.

Man, this reminds me that he REALLY needs to get to some Blotted Science, or just more stuff featuring Rob Jarzombek in general

So good to see some Gordian Knot, both albums are masterpieces. And yeah, I find fade-outs almost always disappointing.

Sadly I have to say it.
This is prog metal I have to appreciate the difficulty and the musicness of the whole song (the next sunday we'll talk about musicness).
But also this is prog metal that to me sounds void, it gives me no sensations or feelings, prog metal I would never listen again, like dream theater. :(
