In this Video, we are going to take a look at Heterothallic in fungi. It is a species that have sexes that reside in different individuals.
Asst. Prof. Chetna Sharma is explaining the terms which are applied particularly to distinguish heterothallic fungi. Heterothallic is a character that was first discovered in fungi. It has a special family called Mucorales. It was founded by A.K Blakeslee in 1904.
She further explains that Heterothallic require two genuine partners to produce sexual spores, from homothallic ones, which are capable of sexual reproduction from a single organism.
