One of Britain's greatest ever radio stations that you will never have heard of because it wasn't in London

FANTASTIC!!!! This was the golden era of radio.....The early morning show with gorgeous Charlie Neil, The Legendary Les Ross, Whatever happened to Phil Holden? He won a comedy award for his show didn't he? I won a few, albeit, tacky prizes on Nicky Steeles show once including a mini BRMB radio, A BRMB noteblock and a hit singles cassette ... Rest in Peace Nicky. I can't remember who did drivetime.....John Slaters evening show was unmissable, Nick Meanwell - where did he end up??
I always listened to Phil Gayle on my walkman radio thingy THRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROUGH THE NIGHT!!!! I did the walkathon many times & always wanted to become a part of the BRMB team but by the time I was finally ready to start sending those demo's in, it changed to a crap station.
Times never to be seen again but thank you BRMB for being a 24 hour soundtrack to my younger days ;-) xxx

Great nostalgia. The whole video is so totally 80s: the clothes, the music and of course the locations. Whoever made it had obviously just discovered Quantel Paintbox!

BRMB was the sound of my childhood. Les Ross in the Mornings "Yesterday Never Comes!" Tony Butler on a Saturday, and going to bed listening to Nick Meanwell on Late on and his "fiendish phone quiz" on a Friday night.
Sometimes I would even stay awake and listen to some of Charlie's overnight show.
I even did the walkathon in 85!. Wonderful station sadly missed.

Thanks for posting. Brings back memories of when I was living and working in Birmingham. I remember a lot of the D.Js featured here. I was listening to BRMB in that late 70’s. Fond memories of the Robin Valk Rock show and Erskin T’s Rock’n’Roll Show. Tony Butler’s Sports Show with its famous 10 second delay for callers fancying turning the airwaves ‘ blue’

I remember that night in late 1974, when BRMB was launched. It was the first FM station I ever heard on my tranny and I'd listen in bed every night.

We had Beacon and BRMB to choose from in the Black Country, now there's nothing, all gone.

I used to travel from south Wales to Scotland in the early 90s and I would always tune into BRMB or Beacon as I approached Birmingham, they were great stations, shame they have gone now.

BRMB, Beacon and Buzz FM. Those were the days. Or you could sail the high seas with PCRL, Enterprise FM and others. Ahhh,I miss those stations.

Anyone remember the Top 500 of the 1980s on BRMB between 30th December 1989 and 1st January 1990?

7:49. ID'ing yourself after an ident which says your name. Still one of the biggest schoolboy errors of radio presenters even today. Some things never change. 😂

Pure nostalgia! BTW, what on earth is Charlie wearing? She looks like she's escaped from a low budget episode of Captain Scarlet.

the irony is BRMB is now Free Radio.. one of the worst commercial radio stations in the country!

    • @Connect201

Orion Media, the former owners of BRMB, Beacon, Mercia and Wyvern, merged these stations into Free Radio. When Bauer took over, the damage was done.

As many theatres as the West End? That's rather difficult to believe.
