Years ago I cut the pad of my thumb with a brand new knife while cutting onions and totally hit a vein that sprayed blood up the cabinet and onto to the ceiling. I’ve never seen so much blood in my life! Not even kidding... I needed 11 stitches!!!! She is SO lucky she had that acrylic to save her from the same fate LOL

Love the look. I have been practicing with poly gels and not satisfied. I continue to work with it, in the hopes that I get comfortable and do flawless nails like you.

I swear I learn so much watching you. And it’s your demonstration of the simplest and minute processes- that make me better.
I completed on meself my FIRST ‘Baby Boomer Fade’.
While the end result is very good, watching you-I know I made myself work much, MUCH harder in:
    •Using too much liquid.
    •’Afraid’ of product.
    •Over thinking.
•’Melting my white’ a little too far up into nail bed area.
    Less liquid.
    Pat...Pat...Pull...Pat..Pat-feather stroke!
    👍🏽
    Your awesome lady.
    Lesson learned.

Tempting Fate is such a pretty colour. Kirsty makes it look so easy to work with acrygel and it's actually quite tricky to get it so smooth. I really struggle with it and have to do a lot of filing.

    • @SomeoneInAppalachia
      @SomeoneInAppalachia 5 ปีที่แล้ว

What brands have you used? I've found that there are some that do a nice job of self leveling just a bit if you give it a minute or so before sticking it in the lamp. You'll probably have to clean up around the cuticle & sidewalls again, but it definitely makes for a smoother looking nail & less filing!

Can you please do a video on your products. So what product is used for what 🙏🏼 there are soooo many different products it’s getting confusing. I know what I want to do but not sure what to use. I do love how you explain what you are using and why. I want to do patterns but do I use 3D gel I know normal gel levels it’s self out so what is used to stay a a solid round dot until you cure? What do you paint nails with nail paint, gel, what gel. What works best to do ombré, nail polish, acrylic paint, gel polish I mean it’s really flipping confusing
    Anyway love your work 👍🏼

When working with the Acrygel over the base coat does the use of the gel wipeoff solution make the base coat loose its integrity? Like if the wipeoff solution takes off the sticky layer of the base coat as I’m applying the acrygel?? I’ve got both your base n some acrygel and want to make sure it’ll stay on properly n not pop off. 😬

Quick question I’m new to the gel nail game I just got my 1st acrygel/polygel kit & due to the darkness in my room as well as my aging eyes I am looking at a new desk lamp - mostly because I’m a klutz and knocked my old lamp off killing it. Anyway all the desk lamps are led lamps now especially all the ones with magnification so is that ok to use if I’m going to do gel polish and polygel nails or will it cure the nail? I have all these new gel polishes and blooming gel & lace gel I just need to know if it is safe to get one and if so how many watts should I stick with? Please don’t be rude fellow TH-camrs. It may sound like a stupid question but I saw some girls using led flashlights to cure their gel & and I thought “oh better check before I order! “

This may be a bit of a stupid question, but if I'm doing my own nails with a tip and I leave the length quite long, how would I best support the tip when filing my own hand because I find that quite hard. Especially when filing a finished nail. (Also, may be worth to mention that I self-taught myself how to do nail extensions) Love your videos

For future reference, you must tuck your fingers down and curl it slightly under your knuckles when you're chopping. The upper part of the knife, not the blade, will be against the knuckles and prevent you from slipping onto your fingers. Think of a little cat's paw. Tuck your fingers and always hold the handle firmly and with all the fingers. None of that finger at the top of the blade nonsense. If you have to work that hard for leverage then it's time to sharpen those knives. A dull knife is a dangerous one.

As a Gen Xer, I have to say I *hate* that name. I prefer the style to be called a French fade. Another name for it that I _despise_ with the heat of a thousand suns is "American manicure." That name makes it sound like it comes from the mouth of a total IDIOT, probably spoken with a southern drawl by some fool who voted for Trump, "Gimme one of them-there, 'Murcan manuh-curs."
However, I can tell you why some people call it a "baby boomer." It's because those "women of a certain age" are fond of the look because it looks conservative, but it's a little different than a classic French smile line manicure.

JodiLea No one really knows why the design has been called “baby boomer nails”.
But there is a convincing theory from nail artist Bethel Coleman on her blog.
She said: “The baby boomer era is known from approximately 1946-1964, in 1945 when the world war ended there was an influx of babies born about 9 months later…..
“We can guess why? And the number of babies born each year averaged about 4million until 1964 then tapped off.
“In this time of the baby boom, the most popular nail colours were bright red, frosted pinks and whites.
“So for reasons that seem obvious this is why the frosted ombre pink and white nail trend was named because of the era the polish colours were most popular”
