@@YoungChia You know, I don't even remember writing this comment :D. I've watched a fair share of new battles the past few years and I do kinda get it now, it's just a very different format that I had to get used to. I'm not sure how I would compare the lyricism since spitting a freestyle to a beat and doing it acapella are very different things. I won't deny that the new generation houses lyrical monsters though XD
mac won scribble jam and started his music career way before he had millions of views. he's arguably the best battler to make music behind eyedea. check out mac lethal vs dirtbag dan, he's still killing it.
I have, excellent album. Backstabber's one of my favorite songs and the Slim Shady LP's one of my top albums. Keep in mind that there are insanely gifted emceese out there who consistently put out solid albums but never break through to the mainstream. With Em's success, as with most things in life, he was in the right place at the right time.
HAHAHA "you look like eyedea got shrunk in the dryer" ok im totally impressed by both these guys rhyme skills, very very dope.... but for real enough about your ass hairs.
@TheBull916 I totally understand that. I'm not saying punchlines arent important at all, they absolutely are. I mean Lyricism is arguably the biggest aspect of rapping. To me what makes Scribble Jam different from say King Of The Dot is the beat. So with the beat, the difference between the two is that you have a forced rhythm on you, giving you pressure to think quickly, in order to sound better. in KOTD, or most other rap battles, going acapella, gives you the time to go at whatever pace you want, which gives you a chance to build up a particular punch line that hits much harder. To me this kind of freestyle battle is different from a normal rap battle, so my expectations and perspective changes to what makes it more unique.
Does anyone know the name of song i'm not to sure who it is but the lyrics to the intro goes a lil something like this.. "I mean what if somebody in Iraq wants to listen to Murs, I'm gona wanna listen to Murs with him."
@TomahawkCity What happened was that this Illmaculate rightfully beat Swann in an earlier round. Back in 2004 Swann was the top dude in battling, he was basically the Arsonal or Hollow Da Don of that era. So the crowd just wanted Illmac to win no matter what, and the crowd played a huge role in how battles were judged at Scribble.
eyedeas in the background of all these scribble jam videos, just in case u wanted to know,,its kinda cool being able to see him walk around chillen you know.,,RIP
mac lethal is my 2nd favorite rapper. and favorite rapper. And im big into the rap scene. i think hes awesome because he almost always assess's the disses thrown at him, then throws his own back.
@josevanreyes nah you're wrong. first off this is a freestyle battle and it's actually a pretty fucking incredible one. have you even seen illmac's recent battles? how are they better than this? i thought it was generally agreed that his scribble jam performance this year and maybe his WRC performances were the peaks of his career that he'd never be able to top.
@superlyrical101 i know what your sayin, but the "punk i'm flyer, you look like eyedea got shrunk in the dryer" was the hardest punchline there n it wasnt from illmac lol, dont get me wrong they both go hard this aint the first battle from either that ive looked up, i just think illmac says "anyways" a bit too much for my liking haha
Can we take a minute to consider the fact that Illmac is 17 years old here!!!
As Eyedea during Scribble Jam 1999
And it was all down hill from here. He still hasnt hit puberty.
You are a better freestyler when you are a teen

"when im spittin i got a good mouth" -illmac
ayyoo
holy crap i dont thing ive ever seen someone freestyle in sync with the beat, mac lethal is insane
youve never heard rap i guess
That's because 90% of that shit wasn't free. Written shit regurgitated. That's why IllMac won, because he didn't spit writtens.

sharper than an axe handle tip?
This just sounds so much better than those weird beatless battles that are popular now.
True but the penmanship is beyond anything that was freestyled in these days.

I love how you can hear people going "Oh" at 4:27
I miss eyedea man

Me too man, me too. Still listen to his music all the time

Illmaculate used to say "anyways" way too much.
Annoying filler and written used up shitty bars used in previous battles
HAHAHA "you look like eyedea got shrunk in the dryer"
ok im totally impressed by both these guys rhyme skills, very very dope.... but for real enough about your ass hairs.
Did anybody else realize illmac got an extra round??
I love that even though Mac lost he still hyping the other guy up. He’s a good man
i like how eyedea is turned the other way talking to murs when he says "you look like eyedea got shrunk in the dryer"
Damn Mac flowed so flawless. What's the 2nd beat btw?
Mac lookin like quinten teruntino
Mac wins
@TheBull916 lmfao
Mac is renowned for far more than his fast raps. He won scribble jam about a decade before those videos were out.
this beat is way better than that one in jada's 'champ is here'. anyone know where to find it?
I miss this kind of rap battle
Scribble jam needs to come back
such an amazing moment.
Anyone know where I can find this version of the instrumental?
Why illmac look like he C walking tho. Lmbo.
ya, i love the 1st beat too. what is it?
If there was no beat, Illmac got it sure. But Mac has waaaaay better flow over a beat while he freestyles, so Mac Lethal won for me.
ArtifactADU Lethal also threw in a few written bars in there too. That’s why he lost and knew it.
@TheBull916 In a freestyle battle with a beat, yes, I value a rappers ability to work well over the rhythm given to them.

Illmac was unbeatable this year. His first 2 verses especially were perfect like sheesh.
4:22 - 4:30 The way he rides that beat is insane
@GameCritixs 200 cents is equivalent to 2 bucks. Get it?
what about Adeem? he's a great freestyler too plus he won scribble 2 times

Eyedea was the best rapper to come through scribble, or any of the battle scenes. perioddd.
This battle rules. Fucking dope MCs!
"shrunk in the dryer" I believe he said, but it's funny either way
Funny thing is, these two are probably the only ones who got successful youtube music carreer from scribble jam.
The first 3 were great back and forth
old school Mac holy shit!
damn seein mac win scribble like that thats gotta be a good ass feeling
lol @ murs jumping up and down after the "eyedea dyer" line
Mac didn't care about winning and basically threw a round. At 4:21 he realizes Illmac rejected his topic idea, and reveals his true power level.
