how did we go from me randomly watching this video 5 years ago and never thinking about it again to me listening to your music everyday not even knowing you uploaded this lol
it's the best way to hone your skills in certain sections. intros, bridges, drops, or even just sound design challenges, which you'll end up keeping. try to do it at least once a week or so
Chat - "Can you show us how to make a heavy but simple growl bass?" Virtual Riot - "Yeah I guess this is gonna happen now" *proceeds to do the 10 minute drop challenge without showing the chat how to make a growl bass* 0:19
New to this. Watched this, a million buttons and knobs on top of a hidden thousand. ... I will no longer be buying a keyboard or dl'ing the program. I quit
That was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw this a couple years ago and was floored by his skill and had no idea what he was using or why. It was all a magic trick to me. Now I'm finally at a place where this doesn't look that complex.
What serious talent and understanding of music. He can hear it all in his head as he does small parts and brings it all together with a beautiful feeling for how music flows
Holy shit I watched this like 4 years ago and I never realized that underscores uploaded it .. and today the fishmonger vinyl arrived in my letter box lol
It's true that it's simple using most DAWs once you've had a chance to figure them out. But for someone who's never seen one before, they can look pretty daunting
I still come back and watch this again every once in a while XD I don't know why I've watched it so much, but it's still just awesome. It's like I'm baffled by how fast he did this every time I watch it, haha.
This was incredible to watch bro. I figured you would have used all presets, but to quickly design the sounds so well was remarkably impressive. You def know your way around your VSTs and have the knowledge to get the sound you want so quickly it's insane. Not to mention the music theory behind the chord progressions you banged out as well. I have so much respect for you my good man.Stay golden my friend!
+Colin G which probably makes him wanna quit even more😂 if virtual can make that in 10 mins? give him an hour and he'll complete that and it'd be our jam
OMG I can't believe it you uploaded this video 7 years ago!!! I literally liked it and omg... now I am your fan listening to your songs almost every day I don't know what to say now it's like the parallel universe is lining up together, omg you are the person, omg I'm dead good video good songs, good content love your works!!!!!
get an i7 computer with 8gb of ram and at least a 4 cores processor, an audio interface, computer monitors (speakers not screens, noob ¬¬), get ableton live, pick up a course in music production with ableton live, buy Native instruments massive and FM8, learn the basics of synthesis and the function of every engine withing a synthesizer (engines; oscillators/operators, filters, lfos and amp) and finally get your hands on some killerBASS presets =)..this actually might make you sound like DATSIK.. learn piano and chord progressions if you want to add melody to your compositions.
Guys, the DAW you use really does not make a difference. The best DAW is the one that you take the time to master all the tricks and the workflow. Who cares if the pros use this DAW? If you sound good on the DAW that you took the time to learn well, stick with it!
❤ You introduced me to VR with this video 9 years ago. I've been listening to a lot of hyperpop lately, so I naturally started listening to your music. Been watching your stream on flashmemories and watched the 10 minute drop video. Then came back here and realized you uploaded it. Amazing. Your new album is incredible!
+JamFilms Doesnt matter how much I like his other songs, but I hate him for screwing up the Lionhearted remix. One of the best songs in the world and he destoryes it.
The only way he could "destroy it" was if he changed the original song. He didn't destroy it, if you don't like his version, then go listen to the original, you moron.
I watched this video so long ago. I had absolutely no idea who was Underscores. I thought "must be just a fan whatever". Today I spend A LOT more time listening to Underscores than listening to VR. I think your songs are much more interesting!! and I still enjoy VR a lot, but Underscores is just much more interesting for me :3
+sergio dupuy His DAW is called Cubase. The sounds and stuff he's making are all from 3rd party plugins like Battery, Massive, Serum, etc.. Samples are likely 3rd party too.
+sergio dupuy Massive is just the best tool for dubstep and everything that actually belongs to edm & sylenth1 is good for edm only not dubstep those 2 are the only ones i use.. other plugins usually suck ass.
BROWSKI MUSIC I'd say Serum is the best plugin for dubstep. (And the most popular among popular producers). Virtual riot is obsessed with it, for example..
Haha this is really fun. I just discovered Underscores a couple weeks ago because is music is just awesome. And then i just checked on his youtube and i see a video that i saw a couple years ago. This is funny as hell and its fun to see what was is inspirations to make music.
it's not about how long you do it for, it's about what you learn. ik drummers who have been playing for decades and are no where as good as me cause they do the same shit over and over and not push themselves to broader areas.
You guys saying this is bad are ridiculous. Of course its not perfect, its made in TEN FUCKING MINUTES! I mean come on, lets see you make something better yourselves in 10 minutes!
Its crazy how you went from uploading Virtual Riot stream clips to him REMIXING YOUR SONG
I thought this was underscores 9 years ago ngl

Marco Carella/Yollomach yh i saw that 😂
Rakesh Kumar It's just practice dude. I enjoy doing the '10 minute' challenge from time to time. It really pushes you!

Eight years ago and uploaded by the official Underscores youtube channel. What a gem!
Wait, I watched this yeaaaaars ago thinking this was cool, but it's the one and only underscores who uploaded it???? WHAT???
New to this. Watched this, a million buttons and knobs on top of a hidden thousand.
... I will no longer be buying a keyboard or dl'ing the program. I quit
And I'm stuck here trying to figure out what notes go where.. bleh...
Holy shit dude I know! Haha I try to make nice sounding melodies but they always end up shitty and then I have trouble making basses in massive too
*****
Alright thanks haha
thegamer18200 another thing is to stay in key, so it sounds good, what i do is get reference sheets here www.basicmusictheory.com/
You have to train yourself in Music Theory for the Piano in order to know that Geek.
FlyDragon360
where does one learn music theory?

+Diego Perez thats what i said lol
it finally happened, we've come full circle
the world is a small place indeed
Who else want's him to make this into a full song? I can't be the only one...
+Scout339 i want him to
He has. Its called gangsters
+Dizzifizz But gangsters sounds nothing like the drop. That was just the drop used in the intro screen with flashing colors.
+AAANG Yeah thats what I was thinking too to be honest. Not sure, sorry :P
+Scout339 he has its in Preset Junkies
Mathematicians: we do the most complex jobs
Edm producers: hold my bass
10:37 for full song.
Have a nice day!
Yingyang [GD] tanks dud!
Its not a full song :/
Holy shit, the full song comes after ten minutes in a ten minute song challenge!
Thank you bro
To this day my biggest take-away from this is that he used a stopwatch instead of a timer, like a damn sociopath.
Learned more from this than any TH-cam tutorial
I saw this a couple years ago and was floored by his skill and had no idea what he was using or why. It was all a magic trick to me. Now I'm finally at a place where this doesn't look that complex.
dude, in 10 minutes he made something better than me in months
Can I listen to your music
In 10 minutes he made something better than what I could do in 2 days :P I'm not gud at FL let alone cubase 5....
Bruh it's virtual riot he could make something like this on soundation
What serious talent and understanding of music. He can hear it all in his head as he does small parts and brings it all together with a beautiful feeling for how music flows
Just realized *Underscores* uploaded this
LMAOOO same
Holy shit I watched this like 4 years ago and I never realized that underscores uploaded it .. and today the fishmonger vinyl arrived in my letter box lol
looks like you know every last bit about this software. geez dude
All the stuff he does technically isn't very hard. It's pretty basic :P. And yes i am referring to the DAW not his production skill.
Raymond Boeijen Its nod hard. I can also do it its actually pretty simple but looks complicated
It's true that it's simple using most DAWs once you've had a chance to figure them out. But for someone who's never seen one before, they can look pretty daunting
hard bit is to learn when to use it
Cubase is an incredibly powerful and intuitive daw, at least to me, I love it.
This was actually very useful. It helps to understand the most important elements of a track and not overthink things too much.
IT ALL CAME FULL CIRCLE
7:24 "maybe make it sound like Eptic or something" Virtual Riot 2014
Man, I wish I had all of that at my fingertips. I am so jealous now.
Someone i know has that same profile pic :P
Simulated Reality - and where exactly can i find it?
Simulated Reality - but i don't have the software
Simulated Reality "easy" i dont see you making anything good tho
Simulated Reality hahahah yeah sure
You accidentally taught me what a good production template looks like in this video lol
I still come back and watch this again every once in a while XD I don't know why I've watched it so much, but it's still just awesome. It's like I'm baffled by how fast he did this every time I watch it, haha.
This video has been floating around my recommended for YEARS. Actual YEARS. I'm watching this now to make the system stop recommending this to me.
same here
think ive watched it around 2 times over 2 years
THAT WAS UNDERSCORES?
@@cloudneverclear Вовремя
Let's see Savant, AKA, Alexander Vinter do this. He wouldn't just do a drop, he'd finish the song in 10 minutes
Vale Music He'd make an EP in 10 minutes + the cover art
AquaSic more like LP Pt. I and II
+Vale Music Savant has over 1000 tracks in just 8 years. The guy is a beast producing, he wouldn't be the same without the savant syndrom
So could Martin Garrix
+HyP3 Scrattch martin garrix sucks at dubstep he can only make big room and prog house
+Lastrevio He only had 10 minutes to do this.
+Colin G which probably makes him wanna quit even more😂 if virtual can make that in 10 mins? give him an hour and he'll complete that and it'd be our jam

Lol I had to triple check what channel this was. Look at you now, making some of my current favorite music that exists
Guys, the DAW you use really does not make a difference. The best DAW is the one that you take the time to master all the tricks and the workflow. Who cares if the pros use this DAW? If you sound good on the DAW that you took the time to learn well, stick with it!
but you do need a DAW that has all the basics. Garage band has barely anything and the workflow is bad. If you get a DAW get a decent one.
K4R1L4 agreed, our school emphasises use of GarageBand even at GCSE level but I'm just in the corner using logic 😂
looking down upon your peers be like "ha scrubs"
Comment Companion Thats not really how it works. Using a million DAWs would not make the track sound different.
Hmm so you mean the workflow is unique? Or the native plugins of each DAW is unique? But I don't see how the final product would be unique that way :P
WEVE COME FULL CIRCLE NO WAY
❤ You introduced me to VR with this video 9 years ago. I've been listening to a lot of hyperpop lately, so I naturally started listening to your music. WAIT. THIS WAS AN UNDERSCORES VID THE WHOLE TIME YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME
I've been listening to VR since 2012, good to see how big he's become in the EDM world
+JamFilms same bro... his song called "Rampage" brought me into EDM. It's good to see how much he's grown.
I started listening a little after "Stargarden"
+JamFilms Doesnt matter how much I like his other songs, but I hate him for screwing up the Lionhearted remix. One of the best songs in the world and he destoryes it.

+JustDatDood Everything to make good EDM.

BROWSKI MUSIC I'd say Serum is the best plugin for dubstep. (And the most popular among popular producers). Virtual riot is obsessed with it, for example..
JustDatDood I got it 2 i only have no shit clue how to make dubstep with it yet but it sounds way more stronger and cleaner compared to massive now :D
