Xi Jinping Thought is a continuation of the philosophy of Legalism that emerged in the Qin Dynasty over 2,200 years ago when aristocratic freedoms, the principle of a “sacred treasure” in the individual independent of a monarch’s favor or social conventions, were replaced by the idea of the induvidual as a blank sheet to be written on by the State. China is actually a historical anomaly. Its neighbors remained feudal with aristocratic freedoms till the colonial period in the 19th century. And democracy ans human rights are graduated forms of aristocratic rights. This is why China is in conflict with all of its neighbors today.
