Great video as always! Keep up the good work. I love brandy and cognac. Wish I could try Argonaut! I'll make a point to look for a bottle next time I'm in the US! Cheers!
It would sell me on Argonaut way more, if the beginning memorized "speach" was delivered more naturally. But the rest of the video is top notch as usual.
If he was given some specific talking points I think he did great with what he had. That said, I agree those points at the beginning didn’t really “sell me” on Argonaut, but with the things he added later on in his own words and style (the reason we watch and love Leandro, haha), personally, I’ll be giving Argonaut a shot.
@@kalenberreman8252 it's not what he said, but how. It would've been a lot better if he had just freely told us what he knows about the brand, I guess they wanted him to say exactly that stuff. Still an awesome video
The "Heart Shaped Box" sounds especially intriguing. Recently I've tried out the "Chapeau", based on dark rum, cassis syrup, balsamic vinegar, with a dash of absinth or some grated liquorice - which was really nice, yet quite difficult to find the perfect balance. I definitely have to try this one!
One of my favourites (technically cognac): 2oz Cognac ½oz Banana liqueur (Tempus Fugit if you have it) ¼oz Mr. Black coffee liqueur 1 dash Fee's Aztec Chocolate bitters Stir & strain into coup or Nick&Nora glass, garnish with a flamed orange zest.
These look really good. You've already convinced me on brandy with "the star" and it's strawberry variation. I'm going to have to pick up a more general brandy now.
About the Harvard, the term forgiving makes perfect sense, from my experience, Manhattan’s require great precision and accuracy to get right. Sure, you can make an ok Manhattan fairly easily but to get one just right you gotta get all the measurements spot on. I used the term “forgiving” to describe the gold rush cocktail, because while my heart was in it to measure exactly as always I just juiced a small lemon and ended up with a pretty balanced cocktail.
Cognac has been a staple in my homebar but I haven't really experimented with American Brandy other than Laird's bonded Apple Brandy Ill have to have a look around. That Fat Thumb sounds good though, I love pot still spirits as Redbreast 12, the pot still irish whiskey, is one of my all time favorite sippers.
I need to grab some argonaut. Great video. You always do the sponsors videos really well. How hard did Marius's eyes roll when you mentioned the Varnish??
I usually add Tennessee whiskey and/or spiced rum to my homemade eggnog. I would like to try a brandy and/or a cognac instead. Which brandy is best suited for eggnog?
I am ok with you reading the sponsor's script. I like the way you got right into it with no needless banter. Best video is quite some time. Also, nice touch with voice over while you are sipping. You don't make us wait for you.
On the brandy note - can we see you experiment with some Rakija (Balkan fruit brandy, such as Slivovitza) cocktails cause it is shown even less love than other brandies
08:15. Shades of Steve. Seriously though very interesting set, I have been looking for some different brandy mixes, some of these will definitely be entering the running.
Tell Argonaut to get to Nashville. I’d love to buy their stuff but it looks like it’s not sold here and Tennessee has stupid liquor laws so it can’t be shipped here. Regardless, I’ll definitely be trying these with the brandy I have, they look real tasty.
I noticed that you put in the pebble ice after pouring the cocktail into the glass for the El Dorado Smash but did it the other way round for the Heart Shaped Box. Is there a specific reason? Dilution maybe? Anyway, the Heart Shaped Box sounds ridiculously good and interesting. Keep up the good work!
These drinks all look great! I really just started making brandy a staple of my home bar and it's been great so far. Question: I could not discern from the video but is there a difference between cinnamon bark syrup and cinnamon syrup?
Haven't gotten to watch the video yet but just wanted to say how much I enjoy your content, especially in these times. Edit: A lot of these look really good, hope you don't mind if I try some of them out with cognac, at least until I can get my hands on some American Brandy 😂
Sir.i live here in India and almost all brandies are molasses based.some like Morpheus are grape juice distilled.are those molasses distilled brandies good for health?
I don't know y the subscribe button kept subscribing but I did learn somethings!!! I only came to learn if it was possible to make Brandy liquer it always separates ugly with milks and ice creams ..
It seems that Argonaut is not available in my area. Does anyone have any suggestions on other quality American Brandies? (Brandys?) I am definitely guilty of relying heavily on French brandies.
So, let me preface with how much I love your recipes. I’ve had the Harvard before. Made triple batches of the other three back to back for a family tasting party. Loved the Franks, Loves El Dorado, but Christ, that last one, the Heart Shaped box, both looked and tasted like transmission fluid. Seriously, we were all stumped. I tried again, doubling down on the cinnamon syrup and added an extra half ounce of Cognac, It was better but still reminded me of Vegemite. Is it possible the specs on the vinegar are off? Mine was much darker than yours. Regardless, love your Channel love you work!!!!
The Educated Barfly I used a pretty fancy balsamic. It’s aged and may have just been too strong. I’m thinking of trying again with less balsamic. Maybe a bar spoon or two?
How convenient, i was headed to TH-cam to see if you, Steve the bartender or H2D had a brandy cocktails episode and this episode was on my front page! Ahaha
Opening was a bit too heavy on the ad. You can still do this stuff but I'd like to see a little less branding tag line sounding stuff. Nice cocktails though
I finally got around to making a Heart Shaped Box tonight, having saved the recipe from this video.... I could tell right away the balance was off, so I looked around for recipes on the internet. Everyone else seems to be in agreement that the recipe calls for just a 1/2 a TEASPOON of balsamic, not a friggin 1/4 oz. How Leandro claims to taste anything other than balsamic during his tasting notes is beyond me. Hopefully the next one is better.
i know you like to step up the production value for sponsored vids, but the side camera angle at 0:29 feels really weird, like youre talking to someone else. i much prefer the full frontal leandro experience lol
Balsamic Vinegar- almost all is fake. The real stuff is white trebbiano grape juice that’s converted directly to vinegar (not juice > wine > vinegar), and is reduced and darkened to a syrupy consistency with successive barrel aging (not adding color or cooking). Old is mixed into the new, and when you see an age, it is the youngest vinegar vintage. In Modena, so precious it was that a small barrel was required as part a dowry payment for your betrothed. Some of it came back to the US and became popular before the rest of Italy discovered the regional specialty. Of course, the USAians were making cheap “balsamic” that most people were unaware of the real deal, and “Balsamic” became so widespread that the EU and Italy could not issue a DOP protection to the name, but “Balsamico Di Modena” IS protected. In recent years, a commodity grade of real Balsamic has become available, but a small proper artisanal bottle will sell for a minimum of $80.
My two cents: I like: ...that you guys try new stuff. ...the occasional zoom in. ...that companies are smart enough to pay you to promote their products. ...everything other than what is below. I don’t like: ...the fade ins. ...the off angle shots. ...the impersonal intro where you just read to us.
I know most people would appreciate the shorter videos, but I miss the slightly slower pace that shows each step in its entirety. I’m not a fan of the new overly generous editing.
Great video as always! Keep up the good work. I love brandy and cognac. Wish I could try Argonaut! I'll make a point to look for a bottle next time I'm in the US! Cheers!
Fantastic selection of recipes. The smile during the shake really cheered me up! Cheers guys!

I, too, am a fan of Cocktail Chemistry.
These recipes look great, and the brandy sounds delicious! Definitely need to make these

Yeah they should've just let him tell something about the brand freely, that definitely didn't sell me on Argonaut either 😂

I don't think he said anything he didn't believe. Not really different than any other youtube sponsorships.

I really appreciated him doing that beginning intro so I knew this was a paid advertisement instead of just something he would of recommend naturally
I love it when you get right into the cocktails with minimal intro. Great video.
The music in the background and the tighter editing made this video so much more engaging, I really enjoyed it!

Hey Leandro ever thought about making a cocktail with the maraschino syrup instead of simple syrup? If so what would you make?
Darn it. I cannot get Argonaut Brandy where I live. They all look so good. Thank you.
Same! :(
I can't get it either
Same. Not sold in Massachusetts

I’m glad that you guys are getting good sponsorships but this video is missing the good old educated barfly feel.
Running out of brandy, will get a new bottle and try these drinks! Thanks for sharing them! Cheers!

Ok fine I’ll pick up some brandy! 😊
I’ve actually never tried it before. Looking forward to it. Thanks for another great video. 👍🏼
I will have to check out Argonaut. My current favorite is Pierre Ferrand 1840.
I need to grab some argonaut. Great video. You always do the sponsors videos really well. How hard did Marius's eyes roll when you mentioned the Varnish??
Had a little bit of brandy and vermouth left over and man that Havard drink was the perfect way to finish them off
Thanks for the video!

Sponsored content that was actually worth my while even though I will likely never get Argonaut brandy in my part of the world. Well done!
Harry's Pick-Me-Up sounds dangerous, but that would be my jam. I'll have to whip up some homemade grenadine (😐) and make some of those.

It’s all about what kind of dilution you want
Really would like to know what brandy to use aside from Argonaut since it isn’t in my state.
What makes the El Dorado Smash a smash since nothing's being muddled in it? Or is that just a name?
First time I've seen balsamic vinegar used in a cocktail. I'd love to see more cocktails with it!
Fuuuuuck that El Dorado Smash is absolutely delicious! Just made it, I love it.
These drinks all look great! I really just started making brandy a staple of my home bar and it's been great so far. Question: I could not discern from the video but is there a difference between cinnamon bark syrup and cinnamon syrup?
I just did chocolate brandy cofee liquior as no half snd half nice rich creamy !
Hilarious timing my dad and I were just talking about trying new brandy cocktails last night
I might utilize the specs for heart shaped box in an infused apple cinnamon vodka cocktail
also, balsamic vinegar sounds FANTASTIC in a cocktail. why has no one thought of that before??
Loved all the nods to other BarTubers, but the SteveTheBartender notice camera and smile got me good. 8:12
Totally making the Harry's Pick-me-up myself as well! Recipe-wise nice! Champagne _could_ be switched to prosecco or (insert a sparkling wine here)?
Of course any bubbly you choose

The Heart Shaped Box sounds amazing... if only I had strawberries! Guess I'll have to wait til next week :)
Is E&J American Brandy a good substitute if I can’t get Argonaut in my area?
Wish I could get Argonaught here its not available in NY that I can find anywhere. :-/

The thumbnail is really nice !
Good subject! Sounds delicious!
For the El Dorado Smash, I’d personally sub the Brandy for .75oz Pisco & .75oz El Dorado 12yr
Would like to taste American brandys here in Europe, but Argonaut isn't available.
i've been just kinda SUBBING brandy for whisky cocktails. I must take it to the LAB
I'll always remember my time at Harvard fondly. It was a pleasant July afternoon.

Would love to try the Argonaut. Too bad it is not exported to mother russia :-(

Yes it is, but Cinnamon Bark is the outer bark of the cinnamon tree. Tradition Cinnamon is from the "inner" bark
Yummy.
Nothing like a Brandy Old Fashioned IMO. Everyone I know calls me either an old man, or thinks I am weird. Don't knock it until you try it.
