Kids end up racing 4 strokes these days with out ever trying a really good 2 stroke.
Who gives $hit if a 450 4 stroke is faster than a 250 2 stroke? Almost none of us are making money racing dirtbikes.
Its for fun! 2 Strokes are really fun and light and quick and simple.

i know privateers that race 250 2 strokes at nationals and do well.

2 strokes are racing bikes. 4 strikes are not even though they race them doesn’t make them a race bike. Remember they also race lawnmowers but that doesn’t mean they should race.

Your comparing a 2 stroke 250 to a 4 stroke 450 so that’s 200cc larger of an engine. Compare apples to apples. Compare a 2 stroke 250 to a 4 stroke 250 and the 2 stroke would smoke the hell out of it. This is why they have to race up a class which is bullshit and the AMA really screwed up on this and it makes no sense at all. I know Doug Henry won a race on a 450 but look at how much bigger that engine is. What they need to do is make a 2 stroke 350 and race it in the pros and it would easily smoke the 450’s. It would t even be a race. You put Jett or Hunter on a 2 stroke 350 and they would still easily win

You none thin so even if you weigh 180 you could easily race a 125. The bike is going to hook up much better with the extra weight.

look who won the 125 shootout in 2023.....gasgas with a kick start and carb, few jets and a little magic and the new YZ125 is all you ever need!

I was gonna ask go for a YZ125 Originally but my family mostly have Husqvarnas so it was right to pick one up. I had issues with the spark plugs and the dealers mix of gas. But after that settled I love My Heritage TC 125 ‘23

There’s people that race a 125 2 stroke at 250 lbs without issue

A lot of people have had mapping issues kinda worried supposed to be picking ours up on Friday just wondering thanks

Yes, Motocross Action Magazine mentioned the mapping issues that supposedly cause a lot of detonation. Apparently no fix is coming from KTM and the ECU is locked. Sounds like Vortex is developing a complete replacement ECU to address it. Hopefully they fix this in 2024. If they do, maybe you could swap a 2023 ECU with a 2024 unit as well. I don't think this issue would keep me from buying this bike though. The detonation sounds like it only happens on pump gas at very high RPM. MXA also indicated that map 2 has a random bog associated with it, and they suggest its just bugs needing to be worked out in a first year design. Again, I would still buy one! Such an awesome bike and such great 2-stroke technology.

@@GOATbro_Australia yeah ended up Gettin one for my girlfriend before they let us pick it up there was a new ecu flash and they have a recall for the stator pick up they added a bracket to reduce vibration affecting the crank poison sensor or somthing but I can say both maps work well and the green map has much better over rev that the white map might be worth looking into if you haven’t yet should all be free covered by dealer

. all this technology and r&d and it'll get waxed by the older 125 carbed 2 stroke engine lmao. It also runs way better and doesn't bog, its cheaper, lighter, more power, simpler. And its not an ecu problem, a vortex ecu wouldn't fix the problem, huge money and testing has been put into these new 2 strokes. Honda never figured it out for motogp better than a carb with the smartest engineers. What makes u think efi on 2 strokes would ever be better than a carb.

The sad psrt is that the new125 is 2 to 4hp less (depending on dyno) but better torque numbers then the non efi model
There is videos on TH-cam of dynos
