I've watched all of this young man's games while he was at LSU. He improved tremendously from the 2022 season to 2023 season with his accuracy, and footwork, squaring his shoulders and throwing with authority. Also, when he decides to take off and run, he's as fast as any player I've ever seen going from zero to wide open. He just blows by those defenders close to the line. I think the fans in Washington are in for a treat watching him continue to learn and improve.
As a Commanders fan, I'm excited for Jayden for all the reasons you outlined, and I think we do have some key offensive players who can help him carry the weight. We can still use help on the OL, but I am hoping we can fix those issues in FA. Combined with the other picks drafted, and the front office did very well in that regard, I think the team is in a better position for this season. Fun stuff!

JD looks great but I need to see him make tough throws in the middle of the field to truly believe. Jalen Hurts/Rusell Wilson have similar skillsets as passers: beautiful deep ball, great processing, ability to make plays with their legs. But we've seen the limitations of that, especially with Hurts last year when an injury basically immobilized him. If Jayden can put on some weight and start making strikes in tight windows to the middle of the field a la Lamar... then we're talking about a top 10 potential mvp calibre guy. It's just that we have seen this skillset before and it rarely has sustained success at the pro level!
I wanted Washington to select JD5. Of course he’s electric with his legs and arm but what sold it for me is his feet in the pocket and how he goes through his progressions. I feel those are important qualities to be good at qb in the nfl.
I watched a video of all his throws and runs and one thing I noticed is his velocity on his throws is very inconsistent. He throws these beautiful deep balls and then misses easy in routes. In my opinion I think there is something wrong with his mechanics and if he fixes that and learns to avoid hits he’ll be amazing.
Need to see him make throws under pressure and/or on the move. All these breakdowns show him making throws with a clean pocket and if it breaks down, he just takes off running. That won't be as easy in the NFL. I am concerned about his ability to extend plays with his legs and still make a throw rather than just running. Not saying he can't do it but i just haven't seen enough of it from him.
