Absolutely the best! What could be better than World War Wisdom posting a new video? Gotta love that he shows the actual shooting footage and he is also not just throwing shots down range. I will convince my dad to enter in as he has never shot a M1 Garand before. Keep up the amazing videos.😃
Weiraboos like to make a big deal of StG 44, but they always seem to forget that it was only manufactured in limited numbers and far too late in the war to make a difference. The Garand, on the other hand, that was *standard issue*. When Patton made his famous quote, he wasn't exactly wrong.
The STG 44 is still an incredibly important rifle for history, even though it didn‘t make a huge impact for the German war effort. It was still the first assault rifle.
@darkhorse3535 Some would argue the Federov Avtomat was the first assault rifle. Fot example it takes box mags, the Arisaka rifle round, has select fire, etc.
@@dillonc7955 The Federov Avtomat is not the first assault rifle because of the cartridge it fires. 6.5 Arisaka is a full sized rifle cartridge and not an intermediate one, that goes against the definition of assault rifle which is a rifle that has select fire capabilities, fires an intermediate cartridge, and uses a detachable magazine. Because the Federov Avtomat fires a full size cartridge, it cannot be an assault rifle and it is instead a battle rifle.
Yeah, the M1 Garand was the perfect rifle adopted at the perfect time. Had WW2 started a decade earlier, the US would still be mostly using the bolt action Springfield 1903 like everyone else, had WW2 started a decade later, maybe their enemies would’ve had more widespread use of semi autos or even the Stg-44. But WW2 started right when the US military had widespread adoption of the Garand (Marines notwithstanding) while everyone else was still mostly using bolt actions.
Your shooting got better each round, just getting comfortable with the gun, recoil. It's not always how well you score, you were gaining confidence. Keep shooting and your scores improve. Everybody has a drop-off after a box or two, you're not fresh anymore. Go again, shoot any stance and you'll be twice as good. That drop-off accounts for lots of flyers. Nice
Great video brother. Such a joy to watch and hear your excitement about the rifle. On my law enforcement honor guard, we carried working M1 Garands. So much better, I thought, than moving to the M4. Heavy though. haha. The Star Spangled Banner gets real long hanging the rifle at present. The history of the rifle made it all worth it though. Legendary
General George Patton: “No dumb bastard ever won a war by going out and dying for his country. He won it by making some other dumb bastard die for his country.”
I used to have a serial number 600,000 M1 garand manufactured by H&R. I miss that rifle. The M1 is easily my favorite historical weapon platform ive ever owned, I'd love to have that beauty if i could.
The great thing about this rifle was it wasn't bolt action. Which I feel must have been an advantage despite it being heavy an packed quite the knock out power and it's reloading mechanism being quite painful if not careful and tricky.
The internal magazine is actually very easy to use, Garand thumb only became an issue in the 1950s with baby boomers because they weren‘t always strong enough to fully lock the bolt back, the bolt will stay back until you move your hand if you reload correctly which was relatively common for the time.
Garand Thumb is a pretty minimallistic issue compared to the issues other semi autos had like the SVT38 magazines falling out of guns, the German G43 being somewhat unreliable, or the Japanese Type 5 Garand being experiental.
I always cross my anklea when sitting. Its mire parable. After each shot as I recovered from recoil I was exactly on target. M1, M14, M16, it works. My JROTC WWII vet taught us that with the Garrand, and Carbine. 1962-65.
I'm surprised you haven't been shooting monthly CMP matches at your local shooting range? It's three position shooting with the following course of fire: Slow standing at 200 yards, rapid sitting at 200 yards, rapid prone at 300 yards, slow prone at 600 yards. The matches were designed to promote the mastering of the fundamentals of marksmanship among the civilian population. Participation in monthly CMP matches is a good way to maintain one's marksmanship at peak level because it's a perishable skill.
I don't think that was a cartouche on the side. the stock cartouches are gonna be on the left side of the rifle, on the pistol grip, and underneath the butt pad on the end of the rifle. I think the indentation on the right side of the gun is just a dent. As far as I know, there weren't any stock stamps on the right side of the M1 during production.
Good video and decent shooting, but your firing positions need a little work, nothing practice can't fix! For example In the standing position you are shooting too much like you would a modern rifle, low elbow, and also leaning awkwardly and tensley back. In the correct position the rifle's sights should be brought to eye level, and the head should not have to hunch down, which is why you looked uncomfortable and tense. Watch the training film "Markansmanship with the M1 Rifle" to see correct firing positions. If you are going to the Normandy 44 tactical, I'll happily give you pointers to help you improve. Thanks again for the great video!
Original WWII and post war cartouches were only applied on the left side of the rifle. Even rebuild stamps were generally only applied to the left side too. Very, very uncommon to have any cartouches on the right side. Less that 1%. Great video nonetheless!
Sure hope you use " M2 " ball ammo. Full charge 30-06 can be fired. BUT...The use will put a higher pressure stress on the rifle. In your book...you can find " using full charge ammo can be used in emergency" The higher pressure can cause op rod damage. Look up the reason for M2 ball ammo
Hey I recently have started to get into military surplus because I think it seams cool and specifically WW2 era US gear and since you seem to know a lot about this any tips of what to try to look for or good places to get WW2 US gear or high quality reproductions preferably that don’t break the bank
I already got a m1936 belt that’s pretty fucked up from existed for 81 years (produced 1943) and also from seeing combat with a US navy gunner in the pacific along with that same soilder’s canteen and canteen cover all produced 1943
The current Springfield armory is horrible and nothing like the one that saw designs during WW2 I own a SA M1A and the scope mount 4th gen aluminum is terrible and they support gun control

Ike said the war was won by the C-47, the Jeep and the Garand rifle.
also the M1 Helmet💀
And the 2.5T truck, not the M1!
General George Patton: “No dumb bastard ever won a war by going out and dying for his country. He won it by making some other dumb bastard die for his country.”
I love how it says how to shoot a US rifle when showing a German soldier 4:49
To own one of those is my dream!
Yeah me too
I'm from Canada so I don't think getting the M1 would be possible . Awesome video, and darn good shooting!!
I actually believe you CAN own one in Canada. It just requires you use a 5 round en bloc, or so it seems from a quick search!

As a history fanatic my self I love watching these vids
I shot an M1-Garand 1 time it was scary to loaded and the concussion from the 30-06 is alot! Great Video and Rifle!👍🏻🇺🇲
Shot a garand and the recoil and weight is so nice for a 30-06
I always cross my anklea when sitting. Its mire parable. After each shot as

The videos he makes are so entertaining and fun!
I spy a wedding band. Congrats bro!
As a non-American WWW watcher, I feel absolutely wierd buying something and literally win a gun
It’s not normal here either lmao. At least not in the north
Wake up wake up world war wisdom uploaded!!
Really cool video thank you the different person cool and Thank you to all our vets u.s all wars and ww2
Like the Willie & Joe shirt-great way to dress for an M-1 range trip!
Just found this channel from your shorts, definitely subbed. Great stuff!

Love the War of Rights reference 😂😂😂
Wisdom is my best world war ll channel I watch
Can you post what events you go to and a series of links? I love your channel and I want to try to do some of these events.
love this content

24:23 did anyone else see the powder come out the barrel when he closed it?
Edit: And also, how can I prevent my m1 from rusting?
Clean your rifle and apply a thin layer of lubricating oil over all metal surfaces; after you handle the rifle again apply a layer of oil.
And I want to be a renacter
I have a M1 garand, i think it’s my favorite gun in my WW2 collection, what’s your favorite Ww2 gun?
Me and my friends met you at that latest reenactment I was the black kid in the SS uniform great meeting you❤
Do you have to use original M2 ball from WW2 or can you use modern 30-06 ammunition for an original M1 Garand
Great video! Sorry I couldn’t make it to Conneaut this year. Will definitely see you at Lauer farm.
Guns.I like guns
Question when you have the clip which way does it go? Does the rounds go up? Or sideways? Or down?
Next video: how the M1 performs when fired at an oncoming shark
You should collaborate with Brandon Herrera on the M1 Garand and the inspiration John C Garand instilled in mikhail Kalashnikov
Going by the manual instead of the way the soldiers adapted to it will definitely give you grand thumb 😂
Garand thumb was not a big issue in WWII because of the manual.
The manual's way is the fastest and most efficient in all firing positions, and you will NOT get your thumb smashed.
YES HES BACK!!
I missed you at Conneaut, great video though
Too bad I don't live in the US. That's a beautiful Garand.
Hey, is anyone here going to the Rockford ww2 reenactment
How do you always record your reenactment povs? I feel like you probably can’t use a gopro or something because that would ruin immersion
Can you upload a completely unedited version of DDay Ohio this year????? Or any reenactments????
Keep up the good work, love the videos
Thank you www! ❤
W morning, W video

Make sure the ammo you shoot in Garand correct.
My dad's in army as a master sergeant and my friends dad was in world war ll
Your my favorite youtuber
Did you use my friends en bloc in this video... watch out... we'll get it back...
You are the best TH-camr ever
Just a little more range time son and those groups will tighten up.

We need the d day Ohio footage!
Hey S, hope you made it home okay, the rain was insane.
Hi WorldWarWisdom do you think that you could send me a link of where you got your medic uniform because I am going to a reenactment soon.
tryna get an $800 CMP Garand, but that beaut looks incredible.
Hey I met you up in conneaut you are one of the nicest people I met up there

I think it's time for a world war wisdom/history secrets collab at D-Day Ohio 2024
WWW do you have to buy a real M1 grand BAR etc for recanting
From malaysia no gun here ;(
Don't sell yourself short. Your groups may not be perfect, but any of your shots would have gotten the desired results in combat.
This is sick
You should eat a USGI ration C ration
Did you shoot M1 carbine?
Do a ww1 video
Need to work on your offhand stance. Lean forward from the waist in more of a crouch.
Awesome vid
A kid in 4 th grade brought a m1 or a civil war gun to school
you do a good slav squat lol
The current Springfield armory is horrible and nothing like the one that saw designs during WW2 I own a SA M1A and the scope mount 4th gen aluminum is terrible and they support gun control

I live in Sweden where guns are illegal🥲 So sadly I cant win the Garand😢
