- Alaska's Dalton Highway, or “Haul Road” as it is commonly referred to, is where ambitious industry and true wilderness meet-and coexist. The 414-mile industrial road was constructed in 1974 to facilitate building the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and service the new oilfields in Prudhoe Bay. It's the most remote highway in the U.S., and it's surrounded by what might be the biggest bowhunting-only zone in the world. This fall, staff writer and Alaska resident Tyler Freel and his dad set out to hunt caribou along the Haul Road.

I need to go do this hunt - maybe this winter when I get back from Adak.
Cool video. If only the music could be a little more dramatic...
I wonder if my Custom Canvas with a Buddy Heater would be ok ...I don't have a stove Jack
A big NO, unless you camp roadside, then a big yes. Wood is slim pickings.Very slim.If you go in the 5.Weight is everything. Dry rice ,instant mashed potatoes, instant oatmeal. Shoot and fish your protein. Grayling and Ptarmigan very abundant. Yes.pack a shotgun in....or you wish you would have.Im old. That 5 in ain't shit.
Using recurves like real men. Who needs training wheels.
Ran pretty far for a totally lethal shot
Neat video. Can do without the music. Tyler Freel is the least heard about super successful outdoorsman.
