    Thank you SO much for this video! I was growing frustrated trying to find inexpensive maternity shirts in the store and online. I'll finally get some use of out my old t-shirts and sewing machine. Thanks again! ♥

    Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I had bought some cheap t-shirts from Walmart to convert to maternity wear but couldn’t find a good tutorial til this one. Thanks!

      Glad to help. The Goodwill and other local thrift stores are great for this as they run from $2.50-$4.50 per shirt. Our local Goodwills here have a "better section" and it is usually higher end labels and new with tag items for around $6 an item. You can get some cute things that work just fine for a maternity wardrobe.

    Thank you for this great tutorial! Did you use a ball point needle?

      @mommymilestones  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I use general purpose Klasse needles

    So are you keeping the front/back together then sewing through both pieces along the side?

      No. I'm lying the elastic flat on the seam and sewing on that, nothing fancy.

    Thank you for sharing this. When you are stretching the elastic, are you ALSO stretching the fabric with it? I couldn't see if you were stretching both elastic and fabric, or if you were just stretching the elastic and not the fabric. Thanks again!

      Just the elastic. I use an even feed presser foot alot for quilting and sewing elastic on cloth diaper covers. It was probably on my machine as well but not needed. It does seem to help me though as I dont have to pull the fabric from behind the presser foot. The machine just does all the work.

    How long were your elastic pieces?

      Cut them depending on the length of your shirt and how much fathering you want vs. How much you stretch as you stitch. My general length was to cut about half the length of the shirt from hem to arm pit and sew it in the center of that area.
