    Classic song. Experimented with some new tones in this one, nothing too crazy though. Enjoy!

    Nice job man! Taproot is my favorite band, you should do some more covers by them. I struggle to figure out some of thier songs. Thier older stuff had some weird chords and odd time signatures.

      Yeah, surprisingly I'm finding a lot of Taproot songs aren't that simple to pick out by ear. I tried learning Mine and the first chord took 10 minutes to figure out the shape and then I couldn't be bothered to learn the rest lol. Songs sound simple, but they're really not.

    Actually, they use a 7 string tuned to A Standard with the G string dropped a half stef to an E, as you demonstrated, it can clearly be played on a 6 string, but they use the 7 to get that specific tone, still an amazing cover as usual though!

    • @MysticGuitar77
      @MysticGuitar77  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah, he uses a 6-string baritone, Taproot's never used 7-strings. This is the video I remember watching to learn it where you can see, he's clearly playing a 6-string in A Standard: th-cam.com/video/WXmNYjA8qkA/w-d-xo.html

    • @matthewhale9831
      @matthewhale9831 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MysticGuitar77 at live shows they do, but on the original recording they used an Ibanez K7, it was the only song they ever used a 7 string on, but they only recorded it with a 7 string, they play it live with a baritone 6 string

    • @MysticGuitar77
      @MysticGuitar77  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@matthewhale9831 Huh, never knew that. I've always ever seen him with the 6-string. Most of Welcome is in A Standard, it's a little odd that only that one they recorded with a 7-string.

  • @erfie

    Nice cover dude!
    What gauge strings do you use? I used a 12-60 on my SE Lowery for A standard but feels a bit flimsy though😅

    • @MysticGuitar77
      @MysticGuitar77  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use 13-59 on this guitar. It's a 7-string set of 10's just without the high E. It's a semi-baritone though so it holds better tension. I use 12-56 on the Lowery SE but I don't go lower than Drop A# on it.

    Curious about how the tuning goes? Also iv been playing this song wrong for years lol thanks for the video!!! Ive learned a bunch of songs just by watching your videos!

    • @MysticGuitar77
      @MysticGuitar77  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ADGCEA for a 6-string, ADGCFAD for a 7-string. I played it in ADGCFA which is like a hybrid of the two. It just changes the chord shape in the main riff a little bit. You can also easily play it in Drop A like most people do. For this particular song, it doesn't make a difference since it's all power chords anyway.

  • @gagecannon7781

    Where did you figure out to play it or do I gotta play song at half speed to figure it out lol there’s a few videos on TH-cam but I watched the music video closely your the only one playing it right the way the guitar player plays it.

  • @abcdefghijkl5408
    @abcdefghijkl5408 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do you know the tuning if you learn songs by ear? I (barely) play bass and that is where i struggle....knowing when it is clearly in a different tuning and not insanely hard in standard tuning

    • @MysticGuitar77
      @MysticGuitar77  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In most cases, the lowest note/chord in the song will give away what it's tuned to or at least give you the starting point. It also helps to have some knowledge of the band and what they usually tune to. Tabs can be a good reference for this or watching live videos to see where they're fretting

  • @alexgoncharov1190
    @alexgoncharov1190 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi! Which strings should I use to standard A tuning? It is on your guitar. I am looking for 13-62 strings now.

    • @MysticGuitar77
      @MysticGuitar77  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      13-59. I just use a 7-string set of 10's and leave off the high E. This guitar is a baritone so it doesn't need as big of gauges to tune low.

      @alexgoncharov1190 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @MysticGuitar77
      @MysticGuitar77  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's played in A Standard (ADGCEA). I played it in A Standard but as if it were on a 7-string so instead of the 2nd string being E, I tuned it to F. Just changes the shape of that one chord and other than that you don't even use the 2 high strings. You can play it in Drop A too like most people do but if you wanna play it like Taproot does, then it's in A Standard.

      @@queencrimson9604 Lots of little differences. This one's a semi-baritone for lower tunings, Hellraiser has a standard 25.5" scale. Also has passive pickups as opposed to actives like the Hellraiser. Slimmer profile than the Hellraiser too.

    • @MysticGuitar77

      @@tp3821 I do add some EQ, but very little. Pretty much just a low pass/high pass filter. Sometimes I don't even do that if the raw mic sounds good enough. Tube amps are like that, they sound different from day to day. I also just bought a mic mixer but I haven't really utilized it yet.
