I don't think hes exactly wrong. Most of the world still has arranged marriages. Its a new western ideal that you marry for love relative to the thousands of years of arranged marriages. Marriage is not about love for other cultures its about stability, opportunity and status. Its pretty self serving to apply western culture ideals onto other cultures.
