By now You have created more lore than GRRM. He should give You the legos and give us a chance to finally learn the end of the GOT before the next winter.
Seriously. If he’s not going to finish, GRRM needs to make sure the world knows the story doesn’t end like HBO. Give it to to someone who will finish it right.
@@mehgancorker7242 here's the thing. No one can, since all the plot points are hanging, unfinished like a Jenga tower, since there HBO ending is the ending but everybody hated how it was done. Ain't no way in hell, that wasn't going to be the ending in the books, just longer to get there haha
@AkodoGarou this is false. The show creators just guessed who Jon' parents were and how that effected the relationship with Dani to get the show. They didn't know the ending and RR Martin wasn't an executive part of anything past season 3(season 2 technically on set. S3 he was on call). RR Martin doesn't even have the ending pinned, why would a crappy ending that dispels most all the logic of the philosophical questions of the story be "the ending". I'll believe it if Martin pens it but I doubt even without others meddling that Martin would end the series like that and that's why the dialog and pacing starts to dip past S3....

There’s a certain type of person who dislikes any kind of literary analysis and seeing parallels in folklore and the literary tradition. I doubt GRRM has a huge conspiracy web of all this lore and connections to real-world folklore, but no author writes in a vacuum. It’s possible to include these things in a work subconsciously just by being well read yourself.
I think a lot less will ever be explained. David is right, imo, with a lot of the analysis...I think where we differ and I may be a little bit more on elios side is the idea that a lot of the themes running beneath the surface of the story will remain submerged in the conclusions.
Howl in Howl's Moving Castle needs to get out of his contract with his fire demon before they both transform into something neither of them want to be. I don't know if that means anything to ASOIF, but it is reminiscent of something magical going sour.
That's how they get ya. They offer you the great price on the fire demon so you feel like you're getting a deal but then they make you sign a "plan" where they jack the price up over a few years and if you back out, you have to pay even more
George RR Martin should hire you as a consultant or something like that, it would definitely speed up finishing winds in a proper manner. Honestly your content is fantastic and intriguing. Hands down this is the best ASOIAF channel there is. Cheers David!
Oh I know he is!!! He's probably having a drink with his wife cussing 'that Lightbringer guy' for making everything so complicated and putting pressure on him to answer so many questions... but thats just my opinion😂
I listened to an audio book last year called the Sacred Mushroom and the Cross. The author claims the first religions were all fertility based religions and that the mushroom was seen as sacred. Mushrooms sprout very quickly after rain. Rain is the seamen and the earth is the womb. So giving the heart trees mushroom symbolism not only gives them pychedelic symoblism like the fly agaric mushroom but also gives them fertility symbolism. The over arching theme of the books is about the breaking of the natural cycle between life and death, summer and winter. Fertility is life. LML always said there would be a dead heart tree in the lands of always winter. That would be the dichatomy, a tree to represent the opposite of fertility. Nothing super important here, but I thought it paired nicely with all the symbolism we've been exploring.
4:50 / 5:30 i would love to talk to GRRM about the logical process that helps shape the characters' thoughts and actions. Their reactions can have impact because they're relatable, or at least understandable. Yet people will still surprise you sometimes. There is that "wild card" factor that, perhaps paradoxically, injects an even stronger sense of realism.
Have you heard the Theory that Sheepstealer was living under Winterfell while its Rider Nettles was living there? That Nettles was a shape changing child of the Forest, working with Bloodraven. And he sent her to Winterfell where she “replaced” Old Nan to wait for the right Bran. When Theon killed this Bran she went mad, called the Dragon, dropped her disguise and flew back to him; burning as she went. Now she is there in her true form, Leaf. Since Sheepstealer would now be at the cave that might be a way for everyone to leave quickly, on its back. Sheepstealer was described as a snake-like dragon.
He is making an important point. It's north of any place in Westeros and Essos, so as far as we know, there is no other place on Planetos as far north as the North.

So the Boltons torture Stark skin changers to weaken them so they can takeover their bodies and have them do what the Boltons want. Like how Ramsey tortured Theon to turn him into Reek.
3:10:20 Daemon had an unusually strong connection to Caraxes. What if his skinchanging was mostly a merging with his dragon, similar to Jon and Ghost? Not a lot to go by, but the show certainly implied Daemon as a predecessor to Bloodraven.
I like that "Winter is Coming" can refer to "better watch out, the Kings of Winter are coming for you", "Always be prepared the Season of Winter will coming again", and "don't forget the Others are up there and bring a Winter without End with them"
Holding a gate/door/bridge can also mean being a warrior left to hold off an invader. It doesn't mean physically holding a door closed but rather "holding" the military line for a strategic retreat. With how big Hodor is, all you need is to find a bottleneck and give him something to knock the wights aside. Maybe Hodor gets his sword or shield, and all he has to do is knock the wights into the water since they can't cross the water.
Always thought that Jon would prefer to honorably sacrifice himself. So HIS sacrifice would be to “dishonorably” help others to sacrifice themselves (Dany) and end their suffering (Bran after download). And he would have to live on with the “betrayal” and survivors guilt.

14:03 do you think that Jon could be rezzed with a combo of green magic & fire magic to make him a "different" or "better" kind of zombie maybe closer to an "other" or a "walker"? Bran is going to know his big bto was killed and everything they said he "cant do" he obviously can so he will definitely help raise his big bro. Maybe helping him get out of Ghost as he's a much better warg than him. Loving the update. You're the best @david lightbringer
Something pretty important to remember and emotional is the deserter Ryswell of the 79 sentinels went to his dad when they abandoned their post. It was his own father who delivered them back to the Wall. I find it extremely telling that once he fulfilled his duty to his people as the lord, he went as an old man to the Wall. All the years between those events he must have thought of his son every day until he finally rejoined him at the 'end of the world' Ive always found that to be one of the more heartbreaking but easy to miss background stories we hear in the books
A possible Royce/Bolton connection could be the bronze armor the Royce’s wore representing a symbolic link to the Bolton’s wearing the skins of their enemies. As we all know, bronze is one of the main symbols of the First Man culture.
So either the Green Men actually had green skin and antlers - in a time where magic was stronger - or were perceived as so telepathically, like how Bran is perceived as a weirwood.
I think Bolt-on theory is legit, not only does it explain Roose letting Ramsey get away with killing Domerick(because Ramsey's eyes show that he has the power for "Roose" to live on, by taking another body once he's used up Ramsey's life, but it also explains why Roose is so unbothered by the idea of Ramsey trying to kill him, why he finds Ramsey having loyal men funny, and why he doesn't bother trying to teach Ramsey how to operate once he's gone. He knows he's just gonna take his body/loyal men anyway. Ramsey's relationship with the hounds might be a nod to him having the powers too and it might actually lead to Roose having a tougher time, or even possibly failing when he eventually tries to take Ramsey's body, not knowing that he has regular practice. With a piece of the previous person remaining even after heir body is stolen, or like how Hodor retreats away when Bran wargs him, is it possible Roose leaches to transfer those little pieces of all the lives he's taken over out of him? At least I hope Roose has a cool twist like that and doesn't go out boring and meekly like in the show. All this also adds another level to flaying being outlawed too, it's not just because horrible torture is BAD, it's a way to keep the Boltons less powerful. I can't figure out how you can get away with torturing someone who could just hop into your head, make them free you, then stab themself in the neck and then jump back into your own body before they bleed to death...Because Warging is Warging and if the Starks are so powerful couldn't they body snatch too?
only if the diference in power is big we read that even a non magical individual can resist so how you take control of another poweful magic user? extreme torture looks like the bolton answerd . i suspect that alot of people will try to have a second human life to avoid death and if you try to avoid death why whe dont see a big amount of semi-inmortal? because the diference need to be extreme and even in that case the new body will have sustantial less power and potential so even the more powerful and evil body snatcher will be unable to do that more than 2 or 3 times
@@mastrey I think there's a combination of "breaking" vessels like horses, the Warg getting more powerful with practice like Varamyr, and outright natural ability levels like Bran/Jon/Arya. If someone like Roose is "practiced" over several lives and keeps potential vessels untrained to steal them, or even slowly "breaks them" throughout their life(for what would just seem like a nightmare for the victim, and potentially another reason Ramsey fears Roose) afterward he would spend the rest of that life training up the new body.
Edit- 2:54:20 I'm visualising Jon 'waking up' in TLOAW/ Walker daycare, naked with Others looking down at him..and his first thought is he doesn't feel any malice. After a moment, he notices his blood soaked blacks are gone. He faintly remembers feeling so cold before everything faded out, that day he slumped over into the snow. He realises he isn't cold anymore... Hardhome is really messed up. And somehow i am just learning about the exploding egg theory! Those shells are supposed to be hard as steel no? Summerhall would have been like a shipping container of fragmentation artillery shells cooking off. Those eggs exploding and sending off dense, white hot shards would be highly destructive and could probably turn a lightly fortified summer castle into a horrible wreck
I think the knights kings brother was brandon the builder. I think BtB built wonderfell around the location where he killed his brother and buried him there, commanding his descendants to stand gaurd over him. The white walkers are doing the same thing rob did. Marching south to get their father back.
@@ThommyofThenn Yeah I have just recently joined in the past month, still very much using twitter on and off but it is a nice little change. Very similar in UI style as well
@@serenatargaryen4932 I've never used twitter but over the years I've come to kinda hate it just because of the role it's played in so much nastiness while seemingly not accomplishing much good.
there is one other story of planting weirwoods (imo) Harren the Black when he built Harrenhal. I believe the formula for planting weirwoods is hidden in that story (i.e. the beams of weirwood are cuttings being planted, and the blood mixed into the mortar represents blood sacrifice necessary to get a weirwood cutting to take and grow. This is implied, I think, by the depiction in HotD of Harrenhal with weirdwood roots and branches growing out of the walls, suggesting the weirwood beams within the walls are actually alive and growing.
Undead fiends from time period it'a based on? I was looking up history of undead folklore and it seems we have been fascinated by "zombie" fiction of some kind for most of human history! I also saw images of undead from several centuries ago and not all of them looked like flesh hungry zombs we think of today. There were images of basically normal people as well as angelic figures associated with old interpretations of undeath. I think grrn is using the idea of zombies in a more classical sense of the trope, as with Beric for instance. He still acts (mostly) like himself, meanwhile Cat has maybe become a more advanced type of zombie. She also seems much more hostile and wanting payback!

I can't figure out how you can get away with torturing someone who could just hop into your head, make them free you, then stab themself in the neck and then jump back into your own body before they bleed to death...Because Warging is Warging and if the Starks are so powerful couldn't they body snatch too?
only if the diference in power is big
we read that even a non magical individual can resist so how you take control of another poweful magic user?
extreme torture looks like the bolton answerd . i suspect that alot of people will try to have a second human life to avoid death and if you try to avoid death why whe dont see a big amount of semi-inmortal?
because the diference need to be extreme and even in that case the new body will have sustantial less power and potential so even the more powerful and evil body snatcher will be unable to do that more than 2 or 3 times
Maybe also the storm emanating from winterfell is the power of the knights king waking up
Hey, Lightbringer...
You're invited to the asada, the Mexican BBQ. 🙏🏼🔥🇲🇽

Can't wait to watch this later on!
Are you going to be joining bluesky btw?
I've seen some ppl say they use that but i haven't yet
@@ThommyofThenn Yeah I have just recently joined in the past month, still very much using twitter on and off but it is a nice little change. Very similar in UI style as well
@@serenatargaryen4932 I've never used twitter but over the years I've come to kinda hate it just because of the role it's played in so much nastiness while seemingly not accomplishing much good.
A huevo. ¡Gracias!
there is one other story of planting weirwoods (imo) Harren the Black when he built Harrenhal.
So Brynden Rivers lost the weirwood wifi password.
Well to be fair, Azor originally set it to "!ihEÄrtNï$$å4êvveR74334~~{1" and no one can be expected to type that in every time
time to lock in!!
"Night"s Watch watching for the Lion of the "Night" from the Walls of the five forts?
Iciest iceberg yet 🥶🍻
Well you know what they say. Winter is coming
Could bran the builder being a child of the forest explain his many achievements. This genealogy may have given him an extented life spend.
Maybe when you blow all 3 horns, it calls the comet. The dragon must have three heads afterall.
