Machinarium is one of the best games I've ever played. I will never forget, when me and my grandfother get to that section, with that depressive music (which I absolutaly love) and our girl friend in the kitchen. It is so shame, that Machinarium is not that famous. It is a great game. Well, the golden czech hands.

Thanks for allowing me to remember this masterpiece.

I played this game when I was a little kid a long time ago and it was hard to complete but I finally did it and I was happy. This game is also really cool and it gives me lots of memories about things nothing about the game and it makes me happy when I play it and think about it and I’m happy you posted a video like this. This is also one of the first games I have ever played. I use to always think that I could get to every place on the screen and it just looked really really cool. The music on this is really great and it gives me lots of memories. I finally got good enough to speed run the game and complete everything first try so I though it wasn’t fun anymore but now I forget everything so I have to relearn everything and it’s fun again. This game just makes me feel happy inside and I’m in a good mode because I watched this video.

Man I remember finding this game in my fathers iPad, I stopped to listen to the bridge soundtrack and was instantly hooked. My sister would join me when I got on to play and when we finished it we just kinda had mixed feelings but not in a bad way, idk I really can’t explain it. 7 years later I decided to replay and it definitely has aged well. I’ve noticed that artistically it has had an influence on me and am now realizing that due to replaying the game. I also broke down when I heard the on the wall soundtrack after so many years. What a masterpiece.

I love this game, this is one of the first game I've played, the atmosphere of this game fascinated and inspired me when I was a kid. I was imagining and drawing in notebook my versions of what "machinarium 2" would look like. It was like a quest on paper but without any hints or explanations, so I don't know how to solve it. I was imagining this robotic steamy rusty endless town... Machinarium is one of the games that inspired me to make my own games when I was a kid.

  • @greenberrygk

This is my favorite game of all time. The art style is the greatest art that I’ve ever seen, and the music is the most amazing music I’ve ever heard, and it’s my favorite game soundtrack, even above Minecraft’s soundtrack, which is my second favorite. My favorite songs are Mr. Handagote, By the Wall, Nanorobot Tune, The Bottom, and The Furnace. And the puzzles are so nostalgic for me. Amanita Design’s other games are fantastic, but there’s a reason that everybody wants a second Machinarium out of all of them, picking it over Samorost, Botanicula, CHUCHEL, Creaks, and Pilgrims. And for good reason. This game is so incredibly close to my heart, and I’m afraid that by the end of my life, I will have never seen more of this world with its art, and that I will not have heard more of these incredible sounds and songs. But I’m hopeful. I really am. And I hope that Amanita recognizes how incredible this world is, and finds passion in this...phenomenon of a game.

Man I remember when I was a kid once I solved the band puzzle I always added an extra save in that spot, just to go there and sit for ages just listening to that little jazz track. I loved watching my dad play it when I was super little and was so excited when I finally got to play it myself. Even though there's technically no "replay value" in the sense that there's no extra side quests, it still holds an irreplaceable value in my heart that gives me just as much joy whether it's my 1st, 2nd, or 10th time doing the puzzle. This was a good video, I'm definitely gonna go play it again soon now :)

I was literally 4 when I first played it (in 2009-10). I call it my first official game, and I absolutely loved it 11-12 years later, it still has that feeling wich barely any other game has given me. My fatherly figure introduced me to gaming with probably the best game possible. One that doesn't treat me immaturely, yet is simple enough that I can get carried away.
It taught me that gaming can be a beautiful art piece, and I cherish Machinarium as one

I played this game a lot as a kid, and it is the most nostalgic game for me. I am also willing to say that it has the best art out of any game I have ever seen, not the most realistic, but it does such a good job of bringing you into the world of Josef (The robot). The soundtrack is so amazing of really capturing the feeling of the section in the game. Some people need to realize that a game does not have to have resource intensive graphics to look good. I may be biased but this is one of my favorite games of all time. The puzzles just bring you in to the game, and are some of the best puzzles I have played. This game is ahead of its time so much, that I would say that it is still, one of the best games on the market. The personality's of all of the robots really shine even without talking. There doesn't need to be dialogue to understand each and every personality of the robots, and just furthers the immersion into the game, you eventually get attached to the characters and you feel happy for Josef when he finally gets his girlfriend back.

I'm a HUGE fan of Machinarium, Everything about that game is absolutely fantastic: the way they drew it, the plot, the soundtrack. I also like to listen to the soundtrack every day, especially The Sea and By The Wall. They are so calm, and they give you that strange feeling, even though it was done in 2009 it seems as if the plot is also hinting at the future, but the environment gives at the same time that "old" feeling. The first time I played this game It was when I was still a child; my father showed it to me for the first time. And from that moment I was fond of myself and I always had the desire to continue the game. Eventually my father bought me the full version and I finished it with him. This game has womething special, and i'm quite sad because this game is underrated.

This is the absolute magic of the visual and sound experience. It has this buzzy touch that feels like old Kafka's or Shultz stories atmosphere. Oneiric, calm, and distracted at the same time. In the end, I think it feels most like "Fables for Robots" by S. Lem. Not any kid would understand right away. Most probably will not at all. The one with the imagination of the size of the ship will do immediately.

I definitely agree, ‘The glasshouse with the butterfly’ is amazing :D I finished the game with my father last week. A memory to be cherished for sure! The music, the ambience, the clever puzzle design. It is a very good game. I also can highly recommend ‘Myst’ from the studio Cyan if you are into point and click style games. They initially released it in 1993.And now after many iterations it has come to VR in full HD. This game is one, I dare to say, founding fathers of the modern day puzzle genre!

I lost my dad a couple weeks ago. He introduced me to Machinarium 10 years ago, at the time I was about 7, and it was the first game I played with him and learned every puzzle and story flawlessly. I came back to it today and sat down and beat it again, and it was one of the saddest moments I’ve ever had when I beat it again. The mix of nostalgia and sadness made me experience something no game has ever made me have, and after hearing the soundtrack again after a decade it was so heart wrenching and beautiful at the same time. • @zombaldag9337
      @zombaldag9337 ปีที่แล้ว

Machinarium's world is perfect because it isn't. It's not orderly, it's not planned out 'perfectly'. Yet it works perfectly. The single flaw is that it does not change. The Black Hat Gang changes this world. Change and regeneration is what makes our human world and nature "live".
Without change and regeneration a world is empty though it is populated, and is unsettling and uncanny for a human. Harmful change is why nature can and must regenerate, because it always occurs. This game feels human because it's about the harmful change that the black hat gang brings; and josef acts out the regeneration following this change, and that's why we as a human can connect and immerse so much in this game and especially josef. They reenact what sets nature apart from machine, harmful change and regeneration. (regeneration more or less being positive change)

1st off, thank you so much for the video. I can see you're a really talented and underrated narrator/commentator!
Machinarium, personally, is more than a puzzle game. Similar to other people, it is one of the very 1st games I played, and my little self back then spent hours upon hours not only playing, but being captivated by the "aesthetic", staring at the gloomy artstyle while listening to the deep accompanying soundtrack then vibing to the dancy/jazzy bits. (I remember spending a LOT of time in that bar with the old robot man trying to beat him in his game hehe). I was completely immersed in the world and connected emotionally with the characters even when they never spoke a word. I felt like there was an unspoken story, a life I might say, for every character, which sparkled curiousity and awe as I discovered more details in this human-looking robot world...
I can talk forever about this game, but I think your video summarized it very well!
    Keep it up!
(and sorry for the long read 😆)

So much true. A real masterpiece. Being a robot game it still plays like a fairy-tale. I played it around 2010 and still when my best friends call me - "the Castle" is heard ringing on my phone. Never stopped wondering why Amanita wouldn't pick up Machinarium 2. Maybe just probably it is too hard to match this one.

I recently finally played this game all the way through to the end (after like, 8 years, lol) and I'm so glad I did. I wish there was more conversation about it, but your video really covered most of what I love about it, and why: the art, the music, and the way they use a deceptively simple story to convey such complex themes. It's truly a masterpiece in my eyes, and I aspire to create something so well-realised one day.
Thanks for making such an eloquent analysis of this game. You've really done it justice

I heard by the wall on spotify. Its desolate yet hopefull cries of strings, wind and metal are really profound and captivating.
I've never played this game before but I feel a strange sense of familiarity with it. I believe it's the warped, dead yet playful lines that make the world look like it was make by a child in a dream.

(regeneration more or less being positive change)

i played the demo when i was a kid on a junk laptop in 2009. i happened to come back to this game when i saw that Happy Game was developed by Amanita Studios.
that specific memory of getting stumped in just the demo alone brought me back to Machinarium.
it was frustrating at some points but the feeling of nostalgia from actually being able to play this game again in 2022 was enough to power through it.
i wonder when it will be when i forget everything so i can experience the game again.

Machinarium was one of the first games I've ever played (the first, if we don't count Snake game, Tetris and the like); It was such a magical experience for me, especially because I was very young. I think Machinarium single handedly shaped the way I look at games, movies and art in general. I used to look at the city art for hours, just imagining exploring the city on my own. Really love this game.

so when this was realized I don't know how to play and what it was about but after 9 to 10 years later a video related to this game popped and my tears come cause it brought the memories I had made with this game but at that time ⌚ I was not open to the internet but this time I got downloaded played the non-trail version and was like crying man this is what I was searching in life this is destiny. This is a real gem and this game was way ahead in time in 2009, it was created with such creativity and soundtracks the storytelling and all the things happening and emotions all the stuff.
This was truly blessed that I encountered this game at such a young age and even after 9 years this game is in my soul.

Your observations are sound and resonant. I can see your logic and support your feelings about it. I am not a gamer. I vaguely remember when this game came out, but since I didn't play computer games as a matter of course, I missed it entirely. Only this September did I click on a TH-cam thumbnail, curious by the animation and design. I was quickly captured by the ambient music, oft evoking a dreamscape of half forgotten memories. I came to realize the character of Josef was innocent and compelling, with supporting characters that help provide depth to his background. Other point-and-click games miss this element. The visual design makes the story somehow softer and easier to connect with--and again, the sepia-toned color palette lends itself to a narrative out of the past instead of the future. I appreciate your insights and observations. They are well founded. Thank you.

Heyy. I’m from Czech Republic and I used to play this game (and other amanita games) with my dad. I recently found out that Adolf Lachman has opened an art exhibition of his work (Machinarium, Samorost included) here in Prague. There’s going to be a Floex Ensamble live concert next week with Josef as a drummer (not sure how they’re gonna do that xd) and a separate lecture will be dedicated to Josef before the concert. Btw just wanted to say that the first pronunciation was more close than the second one. :D And awsome video of course.

What i love about the game is the fact you can pick it up and play. No over-the-top difficult gameplay, no crazy techniques or quick reflexes required, just you and your wits. It's my favorite point-and-click game. I procrastinated a long time to replay it, but god damn, was it satisfying to see all those puzzles again, and beat it in a few hours. The puzzles are great, some are deceptively hard, the "boss" puzzle is extremely challenging, yet so satisfying to beat. Also, although not holding your hand, this game has an ingenious way to have a built-in walkthrough, and thus, makes so you don't need to leave the game, even when stuck on a hard part. The game itself got you coreved, and i love it. The music is just awesome, fits the game perfectly, and, yes, the town band rocks.

this game means a lot to me
in fact the way I ended up playing it is kinda interesting. I remember watching my older brother play machinarium when I was around 4 - 5 years old. I found it really interesting to watch but never got to play myself. although machinarium really stuck in my head it eventually lost in memories and was forgotten. 5 - 6 years later it suddenly popped up in my mind. surprisingly I got to remember a lot. from the name "machinarium" and designs of characters to ways to solve certain puzzles. it was so vivid after all those years. when I asked my brother about this game I finally got to play machinarium. despite some of the puzzles being too hard to solve for my 9-10 years old self I (with my mom helping) got to the end of the game reopening it for myself.
today I played machinarium for 20th time and I still enjoy it. I still settle for a minute in certain location to listen to incredible soundtracks even tho I have them all downloaded in spotify. I still find more and more details in designs, backgrounds and plot. I still am impressed how everything in this game is perfectly planned.
every time I play machinarium I try to pick up more and more things to finally complete the most important puzzle - the story.
I've said a lot and there are a lot still more things that I can say about this incredible and inspiring game. like how I think it may be connected to other amanita design's games (I only played botanicula but I am planning to play more) or about my thoughts on the story and mechanics of the machinarium world. this game really deserved place in my heart. and I am really happy that someone made video about it)
(also sorry if I have some mistakes that can make me misunderstood. my native language is russian :)

In playing this game in 2021, I am taken back to games like KOTOR or Oddworld. The other night, I was playing and the the music sent me to another time of my life and I stopped playing and sat there reminiscing of different places of my life. It was like a out of body experience but for my entire late adolescence and through my early twenties. It was nuts. That's what brought me here. Thanks for the thorough deep dive.
