This is the James Logan High School Marching Band and Color Guard performing "Marco Polo" at the 1999 WSMBC (Western Scholastic Marching Band Conference) Championships. This group won the competition with a score of 96.98.
Scott Chandler has done the choreography for the marching band show (I believe) every year since at least 1999, if not earlier. (probably at least a year or two earlier). I don't know if he used to directly work with the guard during the fall season, but in some sense this is a "Scott Chandler guard". hehe. He's a choreographical genius. If that's a word.
Man, this is some GREAT work for 1999. Too bad you guys don't come to Indianapolis for Bands of America Grand Nationals every now and then. I also really like your 2006 show.
it costs too much to go to BoA... our high school is pretty poor and even tho there's a lot of band booster support, the band is too large to fly many places. usually only the top wind ensemble gets to fly to other states... all the marching band competitions stay within california, which is quite costly to the students. anywoo, it would be cool if logan did get to compete against more of the country.
You just made it a word. Haha. I think he's been associated with the school since 1997? His fingerprints are all over that guard. The use of the body is just amazing. Top it off with top notch equipment chops and man.
It is amazing that the guardwork isn't a mess. How many guard members were you marching? Some of that work is really quite synchronized especially for such a high number. Is this a Scott Chandler guard or did he only work with the winter guard?

Does anyone have Thousand Oaks and Etiwanda from the 1999 WSMBC Championships.
I have them on DVD. The company that recorded the event is still running and have transferred all their recordings over the years to disc.
Does anyone have the 2001 James Logan Paris sketches show?
The trumpet solo kicks some major ass here...love that solo! is he even using a mic?!
I don't know if this is why the pit isn't centered, but the band and the guard move forward beyond the sideline where the pit usually would be.
Most definitely, but at least you guys have a few other great bands to see out there...Mission Viejo, Ayala (sp?), etc.
I LOVE pcep 99. But I kinda agree with that assesment.
The pit isn't centered so that the band can go front field.
They do around 3:30
