I worked in Chongqing for 6 months six years ago. The best of the city are its people! They are very friendly and open-hearted! The cuisine is really tasty, even if rather spicy. The only (but a big one) problem for me was the climate. I was in Chongqing in summer and it was very, very hot and humid there.

I my dreams of the future, Chongqing is what I think it will look like. More exciting, cleaner and safer than the Metropolis in Blade Runner, Chongqing is simply the most epic sci-fi city you can find on the planet. I am surprised that Hollywood hasn't filmed this superlative landscape more often. But then again, Hollywood does the bidding of the US government and doesn't want to announce to the world that China is light years ahead of the rest of the world.

Considering it's GDP is lower than US and GDP per capita is even more lower, how can it be considered light years ahead of the world? Why do you just see the outer parts? Don't look at make ups.
Look at Singapore, UAE, Japan, Qatar and the US as well, these are the countries that are light years ahead in every field and as well as in infrastructure.
This city is just nothing but tall Skyscrapers everywhere.
The thing is you can build Skyscrapers easily with the same amount of money you spend for making films every year.
The people's average income in Chinese cities are much lower than US overall.

Chongqing is like Malaybalay (a mountainous and foggy city in my province, Bukidnon) on steroid overdose. I live in Valencia City, a extreme poor-man's version of Chengdu (parallels as situated on a plain, fertile agricultural area; and with the nickname of CDC's "Land of Abundance" to Valencia's "City of Golden Harvest").
