Very happy to see another part to this series! There are not a lot of builders doing No Mods builds any more so I'm really looking forward to more! Great work as always. :)
When you try to glitch something my motto is “if it starts red it will end red”. Every time you picked up the lift it was red. Was never gonna work. Great content though, fascinating watching a master builder at work 👍
For Dalton I built a wrecked nuclear sub with infrastructure around it rebuilding the reactor. The settlement grew from that. I built the resort (great minds think alike) on the island just off the coast in FH. Iron Man part 2 was the inspiration for that.
This is the best part, Dealing with and overcoming the challenges in the game like the one in this vid. Knowing you are doing a hotel, My first thought would've been to box that area in just high enough to cover the wood posts. Making it a raised platform for a display for the hotel like a fountain in the lobby. Then build backwards from there with the foundation pieces and then going back down with the steps. BTW, You have plenty of room to go up. Mine's way higher than the 4 stories you were thinking of.
@@SkooledZone I've been trying to get a warehouse greenhouse wall into the red Rocket window. It's a snappable item being a wall, so carpets can't clip it through things. Did you ever cover a method to do that?
@@SkooledZone Hey, I gave this a try. Unfortunately even with extending the pillar with a conduit pipe, the group-selection of the pillar/conduit/greenhouse wall still wouldn't clip into the red rocket window. I was able to set it in front/behind at the correct height, but not inside the window as it went red. I had to use a mod to do this. Thanks for the reply tho!
Glad I am not the only one who realizes that I need stairs/scaffolding/etc. to move from one build area to another part way through the work... ;-) It was fun to watch the process - makes me feel like what I am doing isn't off track.
It's interesting to see how different brains work while building. Like how you were struggling to deal with that pile of rubble in the middle of your foyer and trying to place the elevator or generator on top of it. my mind would have gone the direction of placing the foundation of the building slightly higher to cover it up, and leave the landing there the stairs brought you up from the docks more like a veranda where people can sit and just enjoy the view.
I have to say I've learned quite a lot from these vids over the past 4 to 5 years. Good job, you. I've found the "disable" command (on PC) is my best friend. My logic is that if they can wield powerful weapons, such as nukes or lasers, then old Woden pieces sticking out of a rock shouldn't stop a builder ! :-)
The year is 2054: 'Hey guys, welcome back to the Skooled Zone. I wanted to share with you this neat little trick I've discovered for your settlements...'
Paul, I don't know if you are interested or not but I made a tutorial showing a method to snap these stairs into near perfect alignment. I also made sure to include your details in the written description.
Hey Sheck, I checked out your video. Very fascinating. The only part that lost me was at the 3;25 mark. Where did the concrete wall go and how did the higher stairs get into that position for the snap? It seems like you left out a step or two there. Or maybe it's just late at night for me as I write this and my focus is drifting. Would love to give you (and Bonz) a shout-out in the next installment if you can walk me through that last step or two.

I love watching you do these, even though I suck at doing it to the point of hating it. I just do not have the patience for building things in games but I do for other things though. Keep up the good work.
Use a terminal connected to the mortar. You can then set it to go off automatically. I have all the settlements in Far Harbor with mortars going off once a minute. It makes nice weather for most of the land. I also have manufacture plants making clear weather mortars.
Yeah, Far Harbour is well known for "resisting" the Clear Weather shell. In my first or second playthrough I built a "holiday resort" at Longfellow's Cabin, by copying his cabin (it's the same type as in Sunshine Tidings) and building a food stall etc.
I mightn't have made mention were you not to have shown a photo which featured a lighthouse. Right on the edge of the rocky crag, dock-adjacent, a lighthouse works wonders within the environment. Very high height restriction, concrete walls with rounded corners, helipad prominent half-way up, spartan staircase within, concrete columns separated by half distances (realized through placing single column atop a half concrete wall) making up the windows around the furnished 'head' of the lighthouse. I also placed a super bright chamber on top of this, but the tower is too tall to have this little box visible until one is so far away that blocks start fading away. Caveat emptor.
What I recommend is: 1. Craft a BUNCH of clear weather shells (I’m talking hundreds.) 2. Fire one off, and time how long it takes for the dog to roll back in. 3. Set a timer on the mortar. (Kinda like the spotlight. 4. Profit?? You may have to deal with hearing an explosion noise every so often. (That, or just work in the fog.)

If your having lots of problems getting your walls to snap put a couple of flooring/ceiling pieces above where you’d like them and they are more likely to snap into place.
If you are having trouble getting a wall to snap in "bakwards", or facing in rather than out on an edge of a floor, you can place it, snap a second floor on top of the wall, remove the wall, snap another floor so it's hovering over the place without a foundation, remove the first floor, and then place the wall facing inwards by having it snap to the upper floor that is hovering over the place without a foundation. This can be finicky but I have had good luck with it.
Thanks for all the extra tips otherwise building would have driven me mad, I tried bunk beds and concrete walls to square them up it helped me hope you like the idea
I've found that when you're having trouble placing a piece that won't snap, if you go ahead and build it as close as you can to the spot you want, then move closer and look down, you can snap it.
Every settlement should have a theme. Unfortunately for my settlers I discovered Mirkwater right after I watched Papillon. The idea of a prison colony in the middle of a swamp was too good of an idea to pass up. The more troublesome settlers, like the ones who refuse to stay assigned to crops or don't understand my bed is MY bed, get sent there.
I think if you push the stairs back a bit more from the jetty you should get the height you need on the foundations to be above or near enough to be able to place the elevator and it shouldn't be to high on the other side to wear the foundations aren't fully toching on each side
The pillar won't plant itself in a no build zone. A long triple conduit where you try to sink it in the ground will work. Try to extend your conduits long enough and high enough off the ground to allow your pillar to plant on the far side of the obstruction. ;)
By the way grew up in Huntington Beach California I know Knott's Berry Farm well. Went to Edison high school. Good times miss handing out at the beach and doing bonfires well into the night.

Skooled you’re from socal? I live about 15 min from Knotts! Love that park, but I had no clue it was the first one! Fun fact, my city is reportedly the location of the first Denny’s ever
I found another way for the vault stairs. I used a hanging floor/platform along with steel post to make it look like it’s meant to be there. I’m on a ps4 by the way.
Appreciate the new video on building. Could you rug glitch the door way? watching all your other vids I was thinking the same way one the glitching of the elevator. Keep them coming. :D
With a mod, you can place anywhere, however you want, it will clip automatically with on/off toggle. That's a no brainer mod if you are a builder. Not sure if it's console supported.
I can't live without my Scrap Everything... and that screws with Place Anywhere and makes the pillar/rug glitch not work as well. I would have had the landing at the top of the stairs more like a porch and stepped it up a bit to clear the top on the rock. I hate mods that change the weapons and break lore, but I heavily use mods to improve the looks and improve the settlement building. The fact you can not even remove a pile of leaves without a mod used to bug my crazy or that you could remove certain garbage, but not others.
@@JadeTigerFilms I am not sure. I think I removed it a long time ago and had re put it back and re-scrap everything, but that was back at least 5 years ago. I also actually use 2 different scrap tools. They do different things. There is some overlap, but they seem to play well with each other. I think they are Scrap Everything and Spring Cleaning... but again I have not messed with these mods in a long time. They just work. I tracked down some mods that let me build with the same walls and such as many of the settlement buildings so I can actually rebuild what is there. That is sometimes fun. I never got into new mission, aids, new guns, reskins... just better textures. You can also use True Storms to set it to clear skies with a tape it adds to you inventory. It just takes a few seconds and gets rid of the need for the mortar. It sometimes does not last long, but at least it is free. I also like the "half walls" mod as it just lets you put... half wide walls for the vanilla walls. This lets you fill in areas easier and lets you put a door to one side of a wall instead of in the middle. Like I said I could never get the place anywhere mod working and I think it is supposed to be because of the scrap mods. One I saw let you not only place anywhere, but the move and rotate on all axis's as well as enlarge or shrink. There are some other good mods like Home Decorations that let you place inventory items and the will not drop through tables or get bumped over. Another good one is Creative Clutter with adds a bunch or furniture already decorated with items. It also has double beds that two can sleep in.
The easiest solution would have been to just raise all the concrete blocks up so the elevator would snap over the debris, and then reset the stairs at the new higher level. Just a thought.
Fun watch. I know its been a while since you did this vid, but have you considered trying to put down a knee-high stair in front then a platform attached to make a new flat space ABOVE the impenetrable bit(for the elevator placement)?
How about raising the floor. Put like the concrete two step stairs where the elevator is and see if floor or the elevator snaps together above the support beams
Paul I'm building here right at this moment. Have you thought of using the Vault Tec Pillar Supports that you can use to build on uneven ground? I'm trying it now to see if I can build a structure using Vault tec items to make the settlers a bar and bedroom for them
I thought about using the Vault Tec materials but they're too bright and metallic. I wanted to get a more quaint and rustic vibe going for the hotel. But I have a plan for the uneven ground. :-)
Actually the first theme park was a Santa Claus theme park in Santa Claus Indiana{ org Santa Fe}but the town petition the post office to change it's name} but the first amusement park with rides was Coney Island in new York which opened in the 1880's.
No, he's right. The environment is preventing him from building there. I had the same problem only I built over it. Jacked up the foundation then stuck a floor piece over it. My foundations were so high, it made the entire build look ridiculous..
once you get settlers there, can you rig an electric trip switch to a basketball hoop trigger and to a clear weather mortar launcher so every time some ball player pitched a three pointer it cleared up the whole region?
I don't think Settlers interact with objects that way. My usual method is to set up a target switch that emits a pulse of power when struck. That way when the weather gets bad I can fire a .38 round at the target to clear the weather. Rainy Shells are easier to work with though, since Silver accumulates naturally as you raid safes and the like(Silver is found in them so Scrapper can be used to make them glow in the environment).
If you want to see how high you can build on dalton farm, go look at the video I showed you a few months back. I have the largest far harbor build there.

I learned to save it before building after a couple of runs but I'm getting better xD
Can you make a timer pass 30s on the firework mortar?
Would stairs fit in there instead of the elevator? Then put the elevator on the 2nd floor.
Try a carpet with the elevator maybe
Do you have any other settlement builds been watching your videos for a little while now and want to make sure all my settlements are good
I had to raise the foundation blocks up until it was over (above) the refuse.
Same: th-cam.com/video/I5C-TNWrNHE/w-d-xo.html
Actually the first theme park was a Santa Claus theme park in Santa Claus Indiana{ org Santa Fe}but the town petition the post office to change it's name} but the first amusement park with rides was Coney Island in new York which opened in the 1880's.
Too cool.
Is it possible that the junk scrappable materials were in the way of your structures? Maybe by scrapping the junk will make the structures fit.
No, he's right. The environment is preventing him from building there. I had the same problem only I built over it. Jacked up the foundation then stuck a floor piece over it. My foundations were so high, it made the entire build look ridiculous..
Good video.
once you get settlers there, can you rig an electric trip switch to a basketball hoop trigger and to a clear weather mortar launcher so every time some ball player pitched a three pointer it cleared up the whole region?
I don't think Settlers interact with objects that way. My usual method is to set up a target switch that emits a pulse of power when struck. That way when the weather gets bad I can fire a .38 round at the target to clear the weather. Rainy Shells are easier to work with though, since Silver accumulates naturally as you raid safes and the like(Silver is found in them so Scrapper can be used to make them glow in the environment).
If you want to see how high you can build on dalton farm, go look at the video I showed you a few months back. I have the largest far harbor build there.
Forgot about this channel but have been using your tricks since I can remember
If on a PC you can type setfog 1 0 and get rid of it.
I noticed Far Harbor doesn't have deathclaws. So all my settlements have deathclaws
Do you know the campfire trick? It softens those hard to sink areas.
Are you talking about Tip #15 in this video? th-cam.com/video/xKX4E1yQkig/w-d-xo.html
@@SkooledZone That's it. Will that work for your elevator problem?
@@mikeowens6000 I have a better idea for the elevator area. Stay tuned!
