Im not kidding whenever i say this. I am in 8th grade this year. In my first semester of jazz, i never EVER took solos and i feared for messing up (lol) and i was 4th. I discovered your videos around november 2022, and i dont know, it like sparked a fire in me or something, and i took my first in concert solo, and it was amazing. Now we are closing in on the end of the year, with me as our lead trumpet. You my freind, inspired me to branch outside of my comfort zone and try something new. I was about to quit jazz as well, now its looking like i will make our jazz 1 in high school. Tha k you.
Obviously cantina band, the force/binary sunset, imperial march, and really any use of the 6th can be like leia's theme or across the stars. Anyway, killer stuff as always.

Okay Horn solo! This is a really amazingly phrased improvisation. Have you checked out the 2nd Cantina Band song, It's one of my favorite pieces ever. Akin to the 1930s steel drum metropolitan pieces.

How much do you research on ideas for the solo? Just asking bc if jacob collier would play trumpet, it would probably sound like this. Its really just mindblowing listening to you
He somewhat answered this in part 1 of his Q&A a couple weeks ago. He experiments with a few ideas and chooses the best ones to record. He doesn't write anything down because of the time consumption.
Ohh again with Jacob Collier? He's not a prodigy, I don't understand the obsession. All he does is work things differently than most musicians via chord work and dissonance.
