I’m not comparing the players, just the situation - Caleb is going through what Sam Howell went through for the Commanders last year. A talented defense with high expectations who play uninspired football, an egregious offensive line, and an offensive coordinator/head coach who cannot inspire and is inflexible to the needs of his young QB. Through his first 9 games, Sam had 44 sacks compared to 38 for Caleb. The good news is that Sam Howell had a 1:1 TD to Int ratio, so, we can say that they aren’t the same player. The bad news is that neither of them were able to transcend the situation.

If you don't think coaching matters, Jay Cutler threw 26 INTs with Ron Turner in 2009, and was able to make it to the NFCC the following year
