We are art. Our earliest memories are art - cave paintings and stories so ancient we cannot remember their origins. We connect through art, through emotion, story and song. Without art, we are lesser things, not fully human. Always fight for humanity, for art. We must express ourselves, no matter our beliefs. We are art, because without art, we're just organic machines going through organic motions and living empty lives. We are art. Humans are art.
I’m actually so lucky that Tim was in my recommended, this is yet another carefully, brilliantly crafted song that has such an important message. Went to see him in the Vicar street arena in Dublin and he was even more spectacular in person.
I thank you Tim because there wasn't a God who made you do anything you've ever done. Thank you for your work, your creativity, your bravery and love, it's an honor to see you fly.
Thank you for another great song Tim. I’m an artist and I’ve been struggling for years with being unique and having some people around me telling me to tamp it down, make more universally acceptable art. The past few months I’ve been feeling much more inspired, to do what I want, this is what I needed to hear today. Thank you my love.
Perfect. Just absolutely perfect. Really needed something positive this week, and Tim Minchin, Jørn Utzon and the Opera House Trust delivered in spades.
Among many of my best and deepest memories were made under that Ivory Crown of a building, not least of which was seeing you perform on the steps with my best friend by my side late last year. Or laughing my guts out with my family to the Umbilical Brothers, or nervously watching a girl i was pining for get to see her hero perform in Yann Tiersen. Every performance I've been to at the Opera House has a precious place in my heart and am eternally grateful for the opportunity to experience them in the first place. Thanks for making me proud to wave my Freak Flag

This had quite an effect on me. I was a 15 year old on the Opera House forecourt the day her maj opened the joint, and every time I flew back in to Sydney and saw that magnificent building I knew I was home. 50 years later it still evokes a response. Of course, Tim has also done that to me many times so it's a double-whammy!

Every time I play this, I have to replay it multiple times. It's such fun! It's a good thing nobody can hear me try to sing along.
Thank you my love.
ahhhh yes, I remember those days when Australia was brave. Thanks Tim, Love your work. Vote Tim for PM.
Tim Minchin is an international treasure
What a legend. Thanks Tim, for everything you do.
A wonderful tribute to a wonderful place from a wonderful performer.
You never disappoint. From Maine USA, been a fan for about 10 years now. Thank you for continuing to bless the world with your talent.
Nailed it Tim, you bloody beautiful bastard.
Just the tonic for a dreary Wednesday morning. Wonderful!
I wasn't sure what to expect, although I always believe Tim will make something good. And sure enough I love it!
Mr Minchin is a Genius. That is all. I thank the universe for giving him to us.
Awesome song Tim. And it's about so much more than the Opera House. Just the song I needed after such a heartbreaking week.
Wow. Excellent visuals. Lyrics no surprise from ever clever Tim. Love the suit; dressed to express the contradictions. ❤
Ever since I first saw a picture of the Sydney Opera House when I was maybe 10 or 11 years old I have wanted to see it in person.
I'm 40 years old now and it's still a life goal for me.
Congratulations on 50 years of inspiring creativity and visionaries.
Smiling, crying. Thank you 🥺
Hitting the nail on the head again with music and words. Brilliant. Love this man.
Happy birthday SOH and thanks Tim, you national treasure, for a moving tribute to ‘a bunch of nuns in a scrum’.
honestly, I'm happy I know more than one language because thanks to that I am capable of consuming more info, more art, more inspiration. And I am SO HAPPY I can enjoy Tim's work! This one would be enough for me to be a reason to learn English (thank God I did that!). And surely thank you, Tim.
Great job Tim. I love how you found the irony in us being a nation with tall poppy syndrome and having such a unique building. Keep it up.
Legend.
What a beautiful song, and beautiful video to commemorate the Sydney Opera House 50th Anniversary.
This is High Art in its simplest and most complicated format.
Tim you inspired me to reconsider my religious indoctrination. You inspired me to take piano for the last 4 years. You have now inspired me to leave corporate medicine and start my own practice fighting against big food and big pharma and the idiocaracy of American medicine. I am leaving my box! Thank you for inspiring me. Please keep coming with your witty shit. It does speak to many of us. Thank you.
🥰Thanks For Playing With Us Sir
I'm a Canadian who got to travel to Australia in July, 2022. Sydney Opera House was one of the highlights of my trip, and I remember the story of how it was built. It's an architectural wonder. If Tim Minchin had of been playing, that would have been the icing on the cake.
All the world is your stage... you have got this, show your truth... a powerful reminder to do anything but #playitsafe
"Your mind is like a house, if you keep it locked up you might just keep the world out!"
Sheer brilliance from Tim Minchin that peers into our soul and poke at the small mindedness surrounding us. Such a wonderful homage with so many stories and emotions all rolled into one. Bravo!
the most extremally underrated entertainer in the world... salute!
Tim Minchin. I've been a fan since your first TH-cam post. Your genius , couple with your honesty has been, and continues to be. A huge mark on the world! I'm 65 as of, (ugh), a few days ago, so it's more a 'motherly' thing when I say... you get better in every way!!! 👍💙💖💙🥰✌
Wonderful. You've still got it Tim.
tim played this live in nyc last night with a great tim-esque story leading up to it. phenomenal! and a great show all around. catch this tour if you can. so good.
Oh wow! Just seen this was posted now!
Well done Tim! 👏🍻
Thank you, Thank you, thank you Tim for being someone else who contributed to wakening me up. I will listen to this every morning for a little while I think.
Oh my goodness, you're a bloody genius. Incredible. Thank you Tim xxx
God Bless Tim Minchin. And all the Opera House folks who said YES when so many others said no. ❤
What can I say? You've done it again Tim. You have such an amazing talent and this just proves it once more. 👏👏👏👏
Another masterpiece by the one-of-a-kind Tim Minchin! The world is a better place with Tim!
Damn this is an amazing song, thanks for hitting me right where I need it today.
Well done team. A beautiful tribute to an incredible icon and setting for so many of our nation’s more recent memories.
Bought me to tears. And I live in the U.S.
This video has been living rent free in my head for the last month. One little touch that I love (and that I haven't seen anyone else saying) is that you tuned the orchestra to Ab.
I've got no connection, emotional or otherwise, to the Sydney Opera House, but this is just wonderful for the music and visuals all on their own!
Learned I'm as old as the opera house and that Tim wears shoes... - And that the production here was fan-f*ing-tastic!! Great work all!
Thank you, Tim! Always one step beyond. This is beautiful.
Genius, genius, genius
We are lucky to have him.
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you Tim and thanks to all the folks in the clip!
Happy anniversary to the Sydney Opera House! What an amazing tribute. Couldn't expect anything less from Tim ❤
I have no words! ❤️💯💋
Left me speechless. Wow.
