With my Pamphos they have to go through a process similar to the atmospheric and humidity changes etc they would get in the wild. You basically simulate a very short change of season which coincides with breeding season.
That way you have a much better chance of them pairing!

As an arachnophobic, I've learned to respect spiders as every other animal because of your channel. You gave me so much information and humanity instead of killing spiders in my apartment, I'll carefully and humanely release them back to the nature. I even found a wild Salticidae in my desk here, and this girl was so smart and calm, looking at me and tilting her cephalothorax with those cute little eyes, and jumping between my hands as if it was playing. I kept her in an enclosure and she's one little happy and smart girl, literally behaves like a cat. Much love for you my man. and little Petrova sends her HAY BEEG HOOMAN! as well.

I hope his owner obliges; certainly your video of the unforgettable ceremony with Paul gives all necessary details, including what to avoid. (That was your most hilarious video, especially when you pronounced that Paul was "fine" after dying, being frozen and floating in a burning boat.)
If this pairing had been in a small enclosure, he would not have been able to escape. Doing it in a spacious 3-D space with easy exit and lots of opportunity to learn the layout saved his life. That and his mad skills.

Gonna be honest with you, after that guy survived something like that, I wouldn't risk him again. He's already earned his tough guy badge fighting off that female and making it out alive, he's earned a nice relaxing enclosure and the occasional roach and appearance on the channel from now on lol.

I'm new to this channel and this was my first time seeing tarantulas try to mate. I'm generally not afraid of spiders but I have earbuds in so the noise and the quick movement startled me a bit. The male sure was lucky.

If you take it all the way down to 0.25 speed (from like 12:16 if you wanna see the whole pairing) you can see how she tried to clamp down with her fangs but he had tipped backwards onto his back so she missed and he kicked her off as she wrapped around him with her legs thinking she had got him. Intense stuff! Even that slow, it's hard to see him running away as it was SO fast, and she was right on his tail. He was under there for 5 full seconds though so fingers crossed 😁

Good news i bred a lot of GBB's in the past and Im sure that the male make a successful insertations. Thats the behavior for most females that i successfully breed through the years. Congrats! However, the next trial was if the eggsac that she wil make is fertile or not. Also this species are prone on eating their eggsac if they're stress.

He does, but this female is notorious for being a horrible eater; she's extremely picky. I can't remember if she ate before the last pairing Petko tried with her, but Petko certainly tries to feed her. She just seems to have more of an appetite for mature males... XD

My first attempt to sex the molt of my Chromatopelma Cyaneopubescens ended with me not finding any flap...
It was still very small (3rd molt - the one after which the legs get the first blue-green shine to them) but I am afraid that my 2nd tarantula is a male... I'll make sure with following molts.
I'll either try to get an older female or set him up with someone else's female...
Unfortunately I don't have any T-keeping friends...
Anyway - if I end up deciding to give him to the Dark Den I'll probably bring him myself.

Hello. Did your male have a sperm web? If it didn’t, why did you let him go in the enclosure? He never drummed to the female. If he doesn’t drum, he is not ready! Let him make a sperm web, and try again. Don’t force him in the enclosure unprepared just for the sake of a video! And usually you have to wait after shipping a couple of days for the male to adjust to his new “home”. Best wishes!
