  • 00:20 selecting default preset
    01:30 select Default voice number v1.0 is preset number 127(bank 3) MP7 XROM PROM1
02:30 saving default voice to USER memory
04:00 why is the default preset silent?
04:30 look through the four instrument layers (L1-L4)
05:15 the difference between an INSTRUMENT and a PRESET
05:45 choosing instruments for the layers
    06:50 why are parameters flashing?
    07:30 categories and names
08:30 choosing the first instrument waveform
10:00 considering options for affecting sounds
10:35 transposing - single pad playing 4 notes at the same time
12:20 altering the fine tuning for each layer
14:00 alter each layer's pan settings
15:10 briefly discussing the volume envelope
    16:40 setting attack 1+2, decay 1+2, release 1+2
18:00 saving the current sound state, to use the compare function
19:00 saving with a new category
19:50 back to editing the volume envelope
21:00 listen to the differences by using compare function
    23:00 altering the release values
23:50 pressing HOME/ENTER + MIDI to stop any stuck notes
25:35 compare the volume envelope edits, and mention shaping
26:30 save 3rd copy of voice, to be able compare the 3 versions of the preset
    27:00 adding some chorus
28:00 changing pitch to check voice preset sound in high and low frequencies
29:40 hold a note, transpose using buttons under the pitch strip, and hold more notes... useful to play multiple octave notes without a keyboard connected
31:40 using the 16 trigger/shortcut buttons to edit quickly
32:30 sound start / delay parameter adjustment
33:35 "...filters...(mmm!) ... but we are not going there..."
34:20 brief discuss of the sound start / delay
35:00 delay parameter adjustments on each layer
    36:35 keyup example
37:50 set all layers to the same, using LA setting
    39:15 nontranspose setting
39:50 fudging through SOLO mode... I lack much understanding !
40:20 *GLIDE*... nice... ssllloooowww setings... by Rank cinema effect, i mean the THX / Dolby audio clip which plays in the cinema before a film - and makes the room vibrate / windows fall put etc...
43:15 ... filters... hmmm .... too big for this session... will probably explore these soon .... in a veerrrrry long meandering vid ....
All the best, thanks for stopping by !

Great course! Using the base waves rather than standard Rom sounds really let's you hear all the changes made per control. Layering complex rom sounds for me is a much more difficult starting position for sound design.

Thank you Pete, for taking the time to comment!
I agree - and also do both simple and complex .... and do not yet understand all that is capable ! .... best regards !

the tempo based envelopes/LFO's/delay (=>35:40) are the secret weapon of the CS, setting it apart from the EMU samplers - and from the great deal of contemporary gear too // it's a pity they didn't extend that to the glide rate

Do you mean that the GLIDE rate is not able to be tempo locked?

@@wavejockey Have you tried using the Clock Divisor as a modulation source for glide, in a patchcord?

Have you ever tried using the mp7 with a external keyboard, like how the mophatt is used?

Yes! thanks for the comment 👍
Works very well, and much easier to use the drum mappings and superbeats mode.
      How about you?
      Have you tried it?
      🙂
