HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellworlder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

That is a function but the more important function is that they help to convey emotions, eyebrows, our plump lips, and our white sclera all have social importance as they make it easier to distinguish faces and our sclera being white also makes it easier to tell where others are looking. Humans are also one of the only species to have chins that protrude outward which may also have a social function as many people find others who have small chins unattractive.
Humans have a surprising number of characteristics that are ornamental in nature, we just dont realize it as they are normal for us.

@@Exquailibur All tetrapods have white sclera. Other animals just have a high iris area to eye ratio. If it's colored, it's iris.
@@gljames24 well not all since there are some where its got melanin, but yeah most species don't have an exposed sclera or if it is its darkened with melanin
Either way its a relatively rare characteristic to have an exposed white sclera and it helps us see where others are looking. its a social adaptation.

I can already tell there is ACTUAL EFFORT put into this video.
the image appears drawn, not AI generated, there's an actual human voice over, and sound affects have been added, as well as different voices for different characters, making it an audio drama, rather than a book reading.

Honestly it's so sad. AI is a great tool, but it shouldn't be used to churn out lazy content. Started having to put "Human narrator" in my titles because of all the lazy content farms.
@@BirbletonVAthe worst part is that I'm seeing a lot of newly spawned channels using "shocking" ai thumbnails and bad AI narrator and getting more views than channels that have already narrated THESE SAME HFY STORIES FIVE YEARS AGO. I haven't listened to hfy stories for couple years and tried to return to a couple long ones that I haven't finished. Found this entire AI mess instead.
Happened to me to a video about the 7 hour war of Half Life. I could understand the AI voice, but soon it was clear the script was AI generated as well (lots of made up stuff and discrepancies between things said earlier). It was proof the one who posted it did not even check what the AI wrote.
That and just the utter AI spam youtube is obsessed to put on my feed, I now immediately click on "hide this video" the moment I see it was made with AI.
The name "manj" for a spider is brilliant.
I love playing with mouth forms and sounds. And "manj" is a clear series of sounds being able to be made without lips. Spiders dont have lips.

One thing I find iffy about the story is an adrenaline rush being a foreign concept to aliens. Maybe some species don’t have it if they were either so superior they had no reason for it or evolved in such a safe and ideal environment they were basically Dodo birds. At least the spider waifu’s are impressed.

I have said it once and will say it again, I love the South African Accent for HFY stories. Lekker man!
Finally some proper voice acting, with editing! One thing though; I think it would be easier to follow the story if you showed larger paragraphs of text instead of just parts of a sentence at a time on-screen. A lot of people find it easier to read along as they listen ^^

This particular episode appears to have occurred before the 'kitten episode. My suggestion is that a little research might in order.
Presenting the chapters in the order the author released them would help in maintaining a better 'story flow'.

Sorry for the confusion. I don’t write or publish the stories in chronological order. I get an idea, the story comes, details fill in, and it seems to figure out where it goes in the timeline.
I actually got a set of notecards so I can jot things down to hopefully keep the timeline straight.
After doing this, I understand why The Martian Chronicles wasn’t linear.
