Exactly as the title reads, i take you guys through my basecamp setup for a longer trip like this and also ask for your tips and advice!

I went out and bought the ziggy portable and the smartspace square fry pan to add to my camper build. It works great! One thing to note with the pan, If you want to have the SS lid and the removable handle on at the same time you have to modify the lid. They don't both fit at the same time. I ground the front of the handle and elongated the two slide holes for the rubber air vent to slide back 3mm further. Now works a treat. This problem has nothing to do with using it on the ziggy. Out of the box, You cant have both lid and handle fit at the same time.

When we travel gibb/Cape York. With 3 and 4 kids. We pre cook two pot meals and freeze in vac pack bags. So we now Cary a fridge and freezer but that needs 300amps of lithium and 300-400 watts to camp with worrying about panels and chasing the sun all day

The big tent makes a difference when you're basecamping, especially to allow for more beer storage. I've found the best thing to keep warm on a big mattress is a fleece blanket under the top sheet, most of the heat you lose is through your arse. I just did a 4-week cross-country trip, did the dry box thing as well. The savior was wraps, pasta, rice, and non-perishable/no need for the fridge veggies. That saved room for beer, meat, and cheese in the fridge - but then even offroad here in the US we're never far from a random country store. As always, cracking vid Pete, including the Cam shark.

Hi Pete, I find a great idea to keep warmer on an air mattress is to purchase a king size lambswool mattress topper. Also much cosier. Luv ya stuff mate

Great setup. While your air mattress maybe comfortable, it will not have any warmth as it is a pillow of air. I have a Zempire mattress which has a r-rating of 10. (Like insulation batts) That maybe why you were cold at night. Happy camping.

Awesome set-up, the one thing to limit the cold from the ground is to put a blanket underneath it. You could also cryovac 5 meals before you go n put them in your freezer. As usual great video, loved your heart starter 🤣🤣

freezer running for 3 days on agm is very good. In any case, time to upgrade to lithium bud! cheers from Victoria. ps. don't think I need to explain the weather we have over here so trust me I have experience running 12v fridge in my vehicles with sh1t solar exposure. ithium for past 2 years has been GOLD!

Great informative vid Chief. If you have a 100 ah agm and change to 100ah lithium, you have instantly doubled your usable amps. DO IT! No upgrade in wiring necessary. Cheers, dd

Great vid Pete, you spoke of your electrical set up but didn't mention how many Amp hours your AGM battery is. Could be useful for someone looking at a similar set up.

Hey Pete! Vacuum sealed pre-prepared meals are awesome! If you don't already do it, they save a ton of fridge space and you can just pop them in boiling water to cook for easy meals when you don't feel like going all out. Hope you guys enjoyed the rest of the trip! 🤠

After doing remote fishing trips for 2 decades at 2 weeks
Planning is king,
We do a lot of roasts as while that’s cooking your filleting fish and leftovers go on sandwiches for the boat
All meats are frozen and as that gets depleted fish fillets go in
We catch our bait, you just need a few squid to get started
I have now grossly simplified my setup, with a new lithium power supply and 2000w inverter coupled with a couple of cheap 300w solar panels
No generator or extra fuel required
I want my pack up and pull down to take no more than 1 hour
Those zempire tents are the bomb 13kg and no poles
We also bring wind breaks that can easily be moved around
That WA wind is relentless

My biggest fear is once I go lithium, my mind will try to convince me that if I just buy a couple more things then I can use an induction cooker and ditch the gas bottles 😂
