The commentator is incorrect @1:30 about when Dale Sr. got to Cup competition. The Goodwrench sponsorship on the Nova was NOT "before Dale got to the Cup level". GM Goodwrench signed on to sponsor Dale's racing ventures and Richard Childress Racing in 1988, well AFTER Dale had got to Cup & won 3 championships already.

Given the fact there are some counterfeit cars out there Dale Jr wanted to make sure he had the genuine article.
Dale Jr covered this car on the Dale Jr Download podcast and found that the car is the authentic one he sat in as a young lad
he found 3 holes drilled in the cage where a radio box was mounted and they were still there and matched the photos,
that's when he knew had the real thing!

Dale won the first busch(xfinity) race ever in this car in 1982 at Daytona. It was originally a Oldsmobile omega. Dale won a pile a races in this car. He eventually changed the body to the nova you see here. But i know he won rockingham, Daytona Richmond, Darlington, and few others. He didn't lose much in this car. This was the very first car that rick Hendrick had any kind of ownership in. He Robert gee and dale owned the car. In 1983 dale secretly tested the very first car that rick Hendrick ever owned at Charlotte. A 1984 monte carlo. Dale at the time was under contract with Ford and bud moore. Google dale earnhardt drivng rick Hendrick car 1984. He had city chevy on the side. Solid white with green writing.
