University of Iowa students convert waste into energy

University of Iowa students are working on a project to convert woodchipped railroad ties, telephone poles, and other biomass into environmentally friendly sustainable energy. The engineering students are research assistants in the Ratner Research Group led by Prof. Albert Ratner. Ratner is a faculty affiliate of the Iowa Technology Institute.
The Iowa Technology Institute, founded in 1981 as the Center for Computer-Aided Design, is a world-class research hub at the University of Iowa.
