It's because all the pop stuff was prepackaged. All the boy bands we're based on New Kids On The Block. That was the inspiration for creating Backstreet Boys. Then Britney came out followed by Christina. They were constantly compared and everyone else was expected to mimic them.
False, most fans and press would compared her to the other two white pop females of the moment no matter what. That’s what the capitalist consumer monster called the USA does. They did it with Christina and do it to this day.
I agree and disagree...her "team" behind her was awful, her music career deserved so much better! But she's still winning at life with her billion dollar company 👑
Maybe accept for Britney herself she did not want to pursue her image back then and fired her manager to start her own journey that is when she started to collapse
Why did Jessica become a clone of Britney? The answer is simple....record label! I work in the music business and back in the 2000s you pretty much had no say so about your image, sound. Especially if you were a young person. If you didn't cooperate, you'd lose your record deal. The label wanted you to follow the trends that they knew people responded well to. Its a classic marketing technique that leads to money. Jessica was never comfortable with showing her belly and being overly sexual, but in order to keep her job she had to do what her label said.
Meg S You said it!, when u sign on the dotted line, u are giving the label your life to control as they see fit, she wanted to model her career after Mariah Carey, that was what she was going for and then Britney Spears came in and changed the game, and so they force fitted Jessica into her mold, and as a result she never really enjoyed her career as much after 😔
Wow.....as a teen I never caught this. I only bought Jessica's first album. I remember Britney, Christina, Mandy Moore, and Jessica Simpson. She grew up as a devout Christian so it doesn't surprise me now what the industry was doing: remove the innocence and project a sex kitten image to compete with other artists....smh.
The issue is she didn’t have the charisma, dance talent or stage presence of Britney and she didn’t have the voice of Christina so she was always seen as pretty average in comparison.
@@feridedogan7653 no, christina definitely have the wider vocal range and better sound quality. Even in the micky mouse club, her voice was more mature compared to others. Not hating on Jessica. She can carry a tune but she wasnt magnificent.
It is the bias and prejudice masses that makes the stupid masses see things, entertainers, as you do. They could have selected ANY other singer, but the focus was on Britney due to her prettiness. Christina had good music and vocals so she earned her success. Grow a brain.
@@sguardian870 Why does she have to be as successful as Britney? What's this obsession with being number one? As long as I'm making a butt ton of money, I wouldn't care about being number one.
Y’all can hate on her but the industry is pure evil and does anything to sell etc. she found her happiness and got major success with that. Proud of her.
Right, that's why CA was able to hold her own against BS because she had the better voice compare to BS. And JS complete hold up was listening to her label. They wanted her to keep up with BS and CA while the same time she was feeling and looking uncomfortable doing so. The label made her had no style or idea of her own.
It's sad the way women were and still are being pushed into boxes like that. It seems record labels see the colour of their skin and pigeon hole them. Never heard of male singers being treated like that.
The thing with Jessica IMO is that she was a hybrid of Britney and Christina. They tried to push the Britney image and dance choreographies (I'm sorry but she's not much of a dancer) on her and made believe that she could sing like Christina (I'm not saying she CAN'T SING, but they are not on the same level). I guess in that whole situation she got lost of what she wanted to achieve musically and esthetically. While Britney evolved within the pop music genre and Christina tackled and experimented different sounds Jessica's team and management didn't really seem to know what to do and how to keep up with Britney and Christina who kept evolving musically.
I mean there was not really "keeping up" with those two. They were always playing on a different level. Britney stage presence was just DAMN and so was Xtina's voice.
@@jtarantula3390 of course she evolved she was bubble gum pop to more of dance pop urban she even done rock pop on her song dont keep me waiting and i love rock n roll she was always keeping up with the trend because she was the trend and nobody can take away her iconic hits and her sexy sound voice although she has a natural deep sounding voice the baby voice worked
100% came here to see this. I felt like she was negging Britney for being a talented dancer. Britney to me sings about Jessica's level and she's a great dancer.
I wouldn't say she had no personality because her personality is what carried her and her ex- husband's reality show and made them superstars for a quick min. But she was lacking a kind of artistic identity.
Christian tart is a personality. She turned the other cheek with people and she was made but of jokes. She retired the tart thing to bank on products, she doesn't need relevancy like she used to.
i wonder what it's personality for people cause i read about britney personality and she just danced with choreographies made by others... in interviews britney has no charisma at all, in fact its really boring
@@marcsa8720 I disagree if you watch her younger interviews she’s very fun and care free she didn’t have the ego or aloofness other celebrities have but after her breakdown and the conservatorship she lost her spark and became more of a robot
Jess had so much potential as a singer i wish they marketed her differently instead of trying to put her in the same box as brit, xtina, mandy. She obviously had the soulful voice like xtina and they should’ve modeled her career as someone who is more like whitney, mariah, and those women instead of a POPSTAR. Ironically though and props to her- she’s hands down the best businesswoman out of them all though and her net worth says it all
I was/am a ride or die Britney fan and when Jessica and Christina came on to the scene their voices and sound were different enough for me to stay solid with Britney. Christina is obviously the powerhouse, Jessica was the kind of more mature and more ballad lovey dovey like. Britney was the innocent soft - yet a bit edgy naughty sugar pop. I liked them all because they were the genre I liked but Britney was her own thing. One thing I will say is - one of Britney’s huge talents was her ability to pick up choreography and she had a very signature style that I loved!!! Part of her talent was the singing and dancing and the full entertainment package.
I actually remember walking through the CDs at a local music shop when I was a kid, looking through the pop section and seeing a Jessica’s album cover and initially thinking it was a new Britney album because they had even styled her to look like Britney. I honestly always felt kind of bad for Jessica, she couldn’t out-sing Christina, and she couldn’t out-dance Britney, but she was obviously very talented. I think they probably marketed her wrong over the years, if they had let her be her own entity she wouldn’t have become the chicken of the sea meme.
She lacked Britney's dancing prowess and Christina's singing abilities (although Jessica is an okay vocalist in her own right). I'm glad In This Skin was successful because it showed that the best thing an artist can be is authentically themselves. Not every singer needed to be a Britney or a Christina and the public honestly doesn't care for copycats in general. Of course, music artists also need a strong management and label that will support them fully as well to be successful, but Jessica's third album highlights the importance of being yourself. If you're being true to who you are the public will notice and support you.
I loved the video! It was not shady or hateful, it showed how Jessica was used in the industry to sell records, she got the whole talent package but her label misused it. Nevertheless, i must say, and if you listen to her records (critics are usually wrong) she did have some pop influences of that time, but her songs were really catchy and with great dosis of her amazing voice. I think she could have been bigger start if her singles would have chosen wisely, so many songs that are at the same level as christina and britney in terms of originality and rythm, but they were not prometed. Thanks for the video again, i will be looking for more nice ones in your library👏🏻
Damn. When she debuted she was such an amazing singer I mean I wanna love you forever is her best song imo. She really showcased her powerful tone and range in that one. It was her label Sony and tommy mottola who was her boss wanted her to change to look like Britney. So be waited until her second album for irresistible in 2001. That's when she did this whole makeover to be a Britney clone. Messed up they did this to her. They told her to lose weight, change your music, dance like Britney. And anything Britney did they wanted Jessica to do. Like her irresistible video she did, if you look at the video its very similar to Britney's video for stronger. And they even added choreography to it. Wow. She later said it was the worst time of her career that era. I don't blame her. She wanted to be like Mariah Carey how she showcased her talent in singing. But it was so obvious why tommy mottola wanted her to be like Britney. Cuz Britney was the it girl back then. Even mandy moore and Willa Ford said their label wanted them to be like Britney. Britney was the most famous and talked about pop star back then. She was number one. But to me no one comes close to Britney. They can try but they won't succeed. There is only one Britney. And there is only one Jessica Simpson. I wanna love you forever is such an epic song. Only Jessica can sing that song.
Tommy Mottola is the kind of guy who builds a bridge only to burn it down in the end. He's a nasty guy. Look at what be did to Mariah and Jessica. He only did jlo good cause she was his weapon to go against Mariah. And look, his wife Thalia(whom I have never heard of) has been dressing indecently yet he says nothing about it. Tommy Mottola is the most evil person ever in the music industry.
I see what you are saying but let's be honest, her label didn't "force" her to do Dukes of Hazzard and she was dressed the same way. She had a choice whether you believe it or not. She wanted to blow up and was willing to do what she did to get fame.
The thing that was infuriating about Jessica was that she could do the whistle. She had serious range. They never got her voice lessons so she never learned control, agility, breathing, or anything. So when she sings live she's over singing because she's never been coached. If she got coached? She'd have blown Britney outta the water.
Yea did she have vocal coaching? Because she can actually sing! If she could dance... thing is Brit is an entertainer. Jess is a singer. Should have poured more money into her voice. She could’ve been a real powerhouse.
Literally the exact same thing you said could be applied to Britney. Britney's voice was an experiment. Britney didn't have whistles but her lows where breath taking (She can sing Baritonal lows) and also some serious range (4 octaves) but they coached her to be a pop singer even though she had classical training since she was a child, they made her sing very breathy in order for her to sing teen pop music and it worked but eventually damaged her voice. She sang a Cher song live and you can tell she was much more comfortable because they let Britney sing in her natural tone because if Britney faked that breathy sound, it wouldn't sounded like a Cher song lol.
If that includes fans as well I didn't. I liked Britney during those years but I wasnt obsessed with her where i wanted to try to be like her, but then again I'm also not a blonde
Look at Britney now. Total wack job her instagram she totally went nuts. She is no longer anything like she was in the 90s-2003 after that she started going down hill. Sad I was a huge Britney fan growing up. Out of all 3 I would say Jess is the most successful and together. Christina was amazing but went down hill. Back to basic was a huge comeback but then she lost it again.
To tell the truth, Britney and Christina kind of got started at the same time. But Christina picked up steam in Japan while Britney was doing her thing in the states, so it appears like Christina was copying, but she wasn't. Both are talented in their own way though.
I flippin' love Jessica Simpson...unfortunately her "team" behind her was awful, her music career deserved so much better! But she's still winning at life with her billion dollar company 👑👏🏼
Not so. All other singers were who they were themselves: hardly anyone wanted to be anyone else, idiot. But your education comes from pop culture (bias, prejudice, bigotry) stupidity so I forgive your inability to actually THINK. Peace.
Nope. Britney herself was a Janet Jackson wannabe. A white younger and more sexualized version of her. People just love to discredit black women but Janet is factually the original image for all these pop stars. Janet and Madonna.
They did this to every artist after Britney, producers tried to do this to Christina, Jessica, Mandy Moore, even Pink fought back against LaFace so she could do her own thing.
@@Hurricanetongue not the point, the idea was the record label tried to make her into something she didn’t feel was her instead of letting her do what she felt was right, ironically though R&B suited Pink even though she wanted to do rock.
The funny thing about all this is that Avril Lavigne was successful because she showed herself the total opposite of Britney Spears. She promoted her career making fun of Britney. Infortunately not always talent is enough you have to create polemical situations to be recognised.
Avril was special I think because she able to bridge the gap between pop and punk. So she appealed to teens like me who we're more into the punk/alternative scene as well as typical pop listener's. She came around when pop punk was mainstream and everyone was kinda anti cookie cutter pop for a while.
She literally freshened people with a new punk pop rock style, And during her time she also changed her style when pure punk pop rock got tasteless... she changed the way she dress with a pop of girl punk rock look with blonde hair, I did not think jessica copied Britney, i just thought that was “In” during that time and that what was the style people liked...
She attacked Xtina more than made fun of Britney because Xtina, being (part) Latino was an easier target of hate, while with Britney it was more risky so Avril didn't travel that hate path often, in fact, she started checking herself and stopped altogether saying bad things about Britney. Grow a brain, please.
I think it’s great the way Jessica speaks openly about it, like there’s no shame that she didn’t sell as much as Britney or Xtina. I really like Jessica, she’s successful, has her ups & downs like most people, she’s honest about it & she seems like a really good laugh to be around!
Watched her reality show. She seems very sweet and down to earth for a really beautiful girl, now I'll bet she's wealthier than both Britney and Christina

The music is forgettable for most, but imo, it was great for the time it came out. She's not as electrifying onstage as Britney, but she's hot and she can really sing.
I remember at the time of in the skin was the beginning of the unraveling of Britney. The media made it seem as if Britney was getting old and pressured her into believing she should be married and becoming a mother too soon and I think that played a part in her fall into the federline hole. Jessica and her sister Ashlee were a nice distraction during the Britney Federline days.
@Ahmed N 2003's in the zone still sold 12 million. Sold 540,000 in the uk even with the peak of #13 on the charts but had 2 #1 singles from it and real longevity there. One of Britney's albums that she had true control over and her experimenting with a different sound that truly feels fresh today IMO.
I’ve always liked Jessica Simpson & she has an incredible voice. I am a big fan of both Britney & Christina Aguilera & we all know that Christina has a powerful voice like Jessica Simpson & as much as I love Britney we all know her voice can’t compare to Christina or Jessica. I really don’t understand why Jessica Simpson doesn’t have a much bigger career like the other 2. She’s beautiful, talented & writes beautiful songs. Her last studio album was 10 years ago & it was a Christmas album in 2010 & her last actual album was 12 years ago in 2008 “Do You Know” & it charted well it went to # 4 on the US Billboard charts. Thankfully she just released 6 new singles just recently in 2020 to go along with her memoir “Open Book” 6 songs is close to a new album & the songs are great now please give us more music
Jessica spent most of her early career screaming her notes. She literally lost so much of her range, if last i heard her sing was 2006, and her voice was so strained.
I always kind of thought of her as the Dollar General version of Britney Spears. No disrespect to her, but yeah I think she’d have been more memorable if she’d formed her own aesthetic.
Tomato Motorola failed big time. Hence why the eponymous tech company flopped so hard too. He's evil on top of that. But he did jlo good because she served as a weapon of vengeance towards Mariah.
That's so cool. I bought a dress at Dillards and didn't even realize it was a Jessica Simpson dress. Then another and another, I was surprised because I don't even buy, nor am I interested in celebrity name brand stuff. But hers is different... it's relatable. She's everywhere and her stuff is actually great quality, chic, cute, sexy - all in one. Not a lot of clothing lines succeed but hers blew up massively, and part of me thinks it wasn't even because of her name. It was just meant to be. Her whole family works hard for that business, she deserves it.
A lot of the pop stars around this time has dancers that would shift around. Even artists do that to this day. So your point isn't really important. Just saying
They focused so much on trying to make her marketable and sell out concerts and albums the way that Britney did, they neglected to keep up with her vocal training. Is what seems like to me anyway. Her voice had a lot of potential but it was squashed by a terrible management team trying to turn her into something she wasn't. Sad really.
Pay close attention. They wanted Jessica to be like Britney, Christina, Mariah and any other successful artist at the time so they just made her a hybrid of all of them lmao.
She should have remained true to herself & not switched up. JS being herself, was better than a crop top & choreography. I'm so glad she experienced it, figured it out, & was able to share that beautiful voice of hers. I still love her, her voice, & sweet personality. I was always a fan of her love songs 💞 she was my fave female artist growing up.
As a certified Britney stan, I can honestly say I liked and appreciated "Jessica as Britney." I think if she committed to it, she could have done really well, but I'm glad she found her own style and voice and remained true to herself.
I actually love the Irresistible album, its super underrated. There are some incredible R&B songs and ballads on it. I recommend everyone to check it out
Jessica didn't have to do coreo or do any other stunts cause ya know, she has an amazing voice. She just needed focus on her music, writing and her technique. She got the natural beauty and stage presence, why did the label want to make her look like other stars? 🤦
Amazing voice? Not really. Mariah, Whitney, Xtina, Beyonce had amazing voices. And while Jessica can go louder, she has nowhere near the versatility of Britney Spears's voice, who can sing anything and make it her own signature style. Jessica doesn't really have anything if she isn't screaming at the top of her lungs
Christina also has an amazing voice and she keeps throwing out epic shows, also Beyoncé. Dancing is not a distraction, it’s an amazing talent as important and as hard as singing, it’s a plus.
@@allanmhanson I never said dancing is wrong, all I said is dancing is not Jess' thing to do. Instead of making her dance and be a lookalike, her label could've nurtured her singing talent which is what she was strong at.
@@dhrgkbqxtjr2743 I love Brit, she's an amazing dancer. She was a show stopper in her prime, and although I love her beautiful tone, her singing has always been shaky and inconsistent. Jess is a mess when it comes to belting technique but she does have better control, potential and ability as a singer. If she were to focus on her singing instead of choreo and looks, she could've achieved more success in her career.
What's ironic is that Jessica is way more talented than Britney. This goes to show that any mediocre singer can achieve success and that just because you have talent doesn't mean that you are gonna have success
I Wanna Love You Forever is endearing. It was tailored specially for her! Lucky she was doing many renditions like Angle, Take My Breath Away etc... while that was not complete original song, she kind of redeemed the whole thing, her fans especially loved it. Her voice is so good for romantic ballads and soulful songs. She can act too... I think she can be like Vanessa Hudgens, before Vanessa Hudgens....I enjoyed her film where she stood up after leaving the entertainment industry
Also the fact that she realeased her first album almost a year after Britney's debut and half a year after Christina's, made her look like like the third option and a wannabe of the other 2
Problem is they focused on her look more than her sound. Her singles were good. But the album as a whole was fillers. They didn't follow the recipe i.e. "Hire max martin" he wrote all the hits back then for nsync, bsb, Britney, etc
with you was one of my favorite songs growing up. jessica had so much potential. it’s sad to see talent go to waste because they can’t just let people be who they are. they always feel the need to change others.
Well for starters she did look similar to britney.. And she had a wide vocal range like Xtina, though not as good tone-wise.. Britney just made it first so she's lucky.. Xtina pulled through with her very unique voice and singing style after all the media trying to bring her down to push britney on top. Though Christina's first album made more #1s in the USA compared to Britney's first album but Brit was more succesful globally due to her easy sounding pop style and cool dancing.. Jessica's team wanted to combine both but they failed, you know the saying "A jack of all trades is a master of none" .. Also, Christina with that amazing voice could still dance on stage while performing so who needs a Jessica..
also they didn't have the same promotion, jessica always had a lot less promotion... in fact people just started to know her outside USA after her reality and thanks to mtv which was massive. That's why in this skin was succesful at the time.
Jessica tried to get into the Mickey Mouse Club when she was younger...only to be beat out by Brit and Christina for THAT too smh.I love In This Skin!!

Actually it is the same resume. I was reading her book and they all had very similar backgrounds. They were all around the same age and when she went to see two record labels they both said "well we just signed another girl named Britney" or "we just signed another girl named Christina." She even met them when she auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club so all she could say was "I know those girls." Her first album came out just a couple months after Britneys first album did
Listen to her sing “Mary did you know” watch the video-the record labels did nothing to develop her unbelievable voice-they had her copy a sound. She can sing!!!
One thing I have to say is that I respect the hell out of her for singing live (at least in all the clips you used). As much as I love Britney, her insane choreography just doesn't really allow for her to sing live most of the time.
That was the style back then. Obviously Brit and her had similar styles, they both had to be on top of the trends. 🙄 people always comparing women to each other
no matter what, don’t lose who you are (as one of my favorite singers Jessie J once said). it’s the worst thing that can happen to you since you will live with yourself your entire life! do things that makes you happy and stop trying to please everyone.
I liked it. This was very good. The only problem with the cd releases and similar looks is that they were way too many hit "pop" ladies like Jessica or Britney. So was honestly, it was really hard to choose which cd or video to pick over. I also thought it was really strange that she disappeared for a year, and they tried to get her and Nick Lachey to do a power ballad. I think it was like a Christian song, but it was just strange timing from what I remembered.
I love her reality show ...funny that Britney wanted to do the same thing with Kevin and it wasn't as funny as Jessica is ❤️❤️ but I love both of them 😍
Labels need to understand that they can't make someone like another artist everyone is unique, the majority of artists that had failing careers it's because of their label mostly because they try to copy someone's style or when the artist is not involve in the creative process at all
I think the problem was timing. If she came out before Britney and Christina, things would have been different. Nearly all the girl pop singers that came out after B and C are singers no one remembers.
She was better when she was herself, a ballad singer. Her label did her dirty by trying to turn her into Brittany. Bubblegum pop did not suit her voice, the girl has chops!
I think no one did sexy pop like britney did...for britney it just came so natural she was comfortable in that skin......jessica just needed to find her actual niche. She did kill it in Dukes of Hazard though.
I loved Jessica not for her image. But her voice. She was sexy being herself. And beautiful. And has a beautiful voice. She was different from britney and Christina yes, but she was classier with her style which made her unique. And I loved all 3 of those women in my teens. They all are talented and beautiful women

If they had stuck with the image she portrayed in “I think I’m in love” and “ in her ballad, and kept coming back to that, that girl would still be around, would have eventually surpassed Britney Spears in sales, and would have several Grammys by now. I think they made a mistake by not guarding her true image more. Her whole team let their judgement be clouded by the Britney machine. And she didn’t know to stay true to her real image either , it’s unfortunate. But it was neat to see the career that did have, while she had it. The market was so split during that time with several similar talents emerging all around the same time. It was the precursor to the industry that we have today, which has become completely faceted.
The mistake they made was not putting the former song as the second single from her album - allowing her to have some foray within the teen pop movement. Cause by the time it was released that sound was getting a little more mature.

False, most fans and press would compared her to the other two white pop females of the moment no matter what. That’s what the capitalist consumer monster called the USA does. They did it with Christina and do it to this day.
I liked Jessica's first and second albums and her "this skin" album.
@@sersastark me too
I agree and disagree...her "team" behind her was awful, her music career deserved so much better! But she's still winning at life with her billion dollar company 👑
Everyone was a britney wannabe during the early 2000 era. C'mon.
What Nooo!! Boooh! Maybe her dance and look but not the voice..
It’s sad because it wasn’t their choice. The record label pushed it and these young kids just wanted to sing.
Even me and I was 8
Maybe accept for Britney herself she did not want to pursue her image back then and fired her manager to start her own journey that is when she started to collapse
Larissa van Oosten Ariana? Lol who? I’m honestly curious.
Meg S You said it!, when u sign on the dotted line, u are giving the label your life to control as they see fit, she wanted to model her career after Mariah Carey, that was what she was going for and then Britney Spears came in and changed the game, and so they force fitted Jessica into her mold, and as a result she never really enjoyed her career as much after 😔
But Mandy Moore was more candid about it back then even saying after a performance that it wasn’t her, but the label’s song, it wasn’t who she was
Wow.....as a teen I never caught this. I only bought Jessica's first album. I remember Britney, Christina, Mandy Moore, and Jessica Simpson. She grew up as a devout Christian so it doesn't surprise me now what the industry was doing: remove the innocence and project a sex kitten image to compete with other artists....smh.
Yes. This is so so sad. Britney was hypersexualized. As the rest were. I never knew jessica wasn't all about that in particular.
You don’t work in the music business lmao
The issue is she didn’t have the charisma, dance talent or stage presence of Britney and she didn’t have the voice of Christina so she was always seen as pretty average in comparison.
She Had Same strong Voice AS Christina. But she didnt Looked Well to her voice
@@feridedogan7653 no, christina definitely have the wider vocal range and better sound quality. Even in the micky mouse club, her voice was more mature compared to others. Not hating on Jessica. She can carry a tune but she wasnt magnificent.
Maylyn Bayani I thought Britney had the best voice in MMC, just my opinion though. Pity her record label made her change it.
It is the bias and prejudice masses that makes the stupid masses see things, entertainers, as you do. They could have selected ANY other singer, but the focus was on Britney due to her prettiness. Christina had good music and vocals so she earned her success. Grow a brain.
She got her titties out too late in her career, according to this video.
They also tried to do the same thing with Christina Aguilera also to be like Britney but luckily she was able to make her own sound

Y’all act like she herself wanted to copy Christina and Brittany. It was her record label 🙄
@T 2020 Nah a few people are saying "she was copying".
It's sad because she looked very uncomfortable
Right, that's why CA was able to hold her own against BS because she had the better voice compare to BS. And JS complete hold up was listening to her label. They wanted her to keep up with BS and CA while the same time she was feeling and looking uncomfortable doing so. The label made her had no style or idea of her own.
Who is brittany?
Marc sa Britney Spears.
It’s like how most black female singers have to be another Beyoncé or Rihanna. I’m glad some woman singers find their own identity
Yeah. I wonder how Normani is gonna find her own sound
The way Rihanna's label wanted her to be next Beyonce..
Taylor Lucifer nah rihanna was the ‘Caribbean’ influence. She wasn’t marketed as the next Beyoncé.
It's sad the way women were and still are being pushed into boxes like that. It seems record labels see the colour of their skin and pigeon hole them. Never heard of male singers being treated like that.
PurplePinkRed agreed
Let's be honest, BS did NOT evolve

But she was lacking a kind of artistic identity.

Ironically though and props to her- she’s hands down the best businesswoman out of them all though and her net worth says it all
yup. well said.
Thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed the video
sadly the industry loved to toss around with young talented people
Its sad how she was forced to change to be second rate version of somebody else.
She could've been a legendary vocalist like Mariah or Whitney.
So sad
True, also what's up with making them sound like babies? No lie, both Brit's and Jess' tone sounded higher than they actually were
She could never be like Mariah or Whitney...sorry to say that.
@@metinkocak3889 Im saying that she could do big ballads like they did
I see what you are saying but let's be honest, her label didn't "force" her to do Dukes of Hazzard and she was dressed the same way. She had a choice whether you believe it or not. She wanted to blow up and was willing to do what she did to get fame.
OMG like Mariah o Whitney??? 🤣🤣🤣 Never.
I dont think people understand how amazing her voice was. She had soo much potential
Brittany really doesn't have a great singing voice!! It's OH k!! She sings through her 👃 most of the time
@@carmendilcherd4765She was made to sing through her nose to have a more higher pitched voice. Her real voice is a lot lower and deeper.

Pink did Pink and she succeeded. Good for her to have the guts to step out of that box...
Pink did rnb music at the beginning nothing at all like Britney
@@Hurricanetongue not the point, the idea was the record label tried to make her into something she didn’t feel was her instead of letting her do what she felt was right, ironically though R&B suited Pink even though she wanted to do rock.
True
The funny thing about all this is that Avril Lavigne was successful because she showed herself the total opposite of Britney Spears. She promoted her career making fun of Britney. Infortunately not always talent is enough you have to create polemical situations to be recognised.
Avril was special I think because she able to bridge the gap between pop and punk. So she appealed to teens like me who we're more into the punk/alternative scene as well as typical pop listener's. She came around when pop punk was mainstream and everyone was kinda anti cookie cutter pop for a while.
Or Ashlee Simpson.. her sister.. I think she was more successful in the music industry than Jessica
They have different genre. Avril is a rockstar while britney is a popstar. Avril left an iconic skater outfit that everybody loves before.
She literally freshened people with a new punk pop rock style,
And during her time she also changed her style when pure punk pop rock got tasteless... she changed the way she dress with a pop of girl punk rock look with blonde hair,
I did not think jessica copied Britney, i just thought that was “In” during that time and that what was the style people liked...

She’s even using Britney’s dancers 😂
A lot of the pop stars around this time has dancers that would shift around. Even artists do that to this day. So your point isn't really important. Just saying
Christina and Justin used some of the same dancers in 2003. It's more common than you think.
I didn’t say it wasn’t common. It was just funny to notice. The timeline they were still dancing with Britney too.
They all shared backup dancers!! How old are you
Britney used Janet Jackson’s dancers. It’s very common for dancers to work with multiple pop stars.
They focused so much on trying to make her marketable and sell out concerts and albums the way that Britney did, they neglected to keep up with her vocal training. Is what seems like to me anyway. Her voice had a lot of potential but it was squashed by a terrible management team trying to turn her into something she wasn't. Sad really.
And then she discovered chicken of the sea wasn't chicken 😂😂😂
Pay close attention. They wanted Jessica to be like Britney, Christina, Mariah and any other successful artist at the time so they just made her a hybrid of all of them lmao.
Seems to me Jessica had really bad management behind the scenes
Absolutely. Two words: Tommy Mottola.
I loved her first album! I can listen to it from top to bottom

Me too! I love the duet she performed with Marc Anthony, "There You Were."
Jessica didn't have to do coreo or do any other stunts cause ya know, she has an amazing voice. She just needed focus on her music, writing and her technique. She got the natural beauty and stage presence, why did the label want to make her look like other stars? 🤦
They wanted their own Britney
Amazing voice? Not really. Mariah, Whitney, Xtina, Beyonce had amazing voices. And while Jessica can go louder, she has nowhere near the versatility of Britney Spears's voice, who can sing anything and make it her own signature style. Jessica doesn't really have anything if she isn't screaming at the top of her lungs

She sounds more like a country singer..nothing wrong with that ,I would so love to hear new music from her

Well said.
also they didn't have the same promotion, jessica always had a lot less promotion... in fact people just started to know her outside USA after her reality and thanks to mtv which was massive. That's why in this skin was succesful at the time.
The problem with Jessica was that she couldn't sing with Xtina nor could she dance with Britney. She's just bland.

One thing I have to say is that I respect the hell out of her for singing live (at least in all the clips you used). As much as I love Britney, her insane choreography just doesn't really allow for her to sing live most of the time.
Late, but your editing is impeccable.
Thank youuu
That was the style back then. Obviously Brit and her had similar styles, they both had to be on top of the trends. 🙄 people always comparing women to each other
no matter what, don’t lose who you are (as one of my favorite singers Jessie J once said).
it’s the worst thing that can happen to you since you will live with yourself your entire life! do things that makes you happy and stop trying to please everyone.
My dad used to call Jessica "Britney's stunt double"
That’s funny, but Jessica could never come close to pulling off Britney‘s moves
Critics even compared her with Celine Dion at her debut!! But yeah... Britney hype was THE thing!
Jessica lived in the shadow of Britney and Christina, and Ashlee lived in the shadow of Jessica.
I love her reality show ...funny that Britney wanted to do the same thing with Kevin and it wasn't as funny as Jessica is ❤️❤️ but I love both of them 😍
Labels need to understand that they can't make someone like another artist everyone is unique, the majority of artists that had failing careers it's because of their label mostly because they try to copy someone's style or when the artist is not involve in the creative process at all
Funny how you get more information about a star from the comments section, rather than the video itself.
THANK YOU!!!
It's about time somebody said something about this- I've been saying this since 2001. 😤
To be fair Britney and Christina were probably also pushed into the pop tart image too.
nope BRITNEY pushed herself to be britney! her first video is all her concept and most of her career is her decision!
Strange isn’t it because she could definitely sing better than Britney
I used to love Newlyweds so much, that’s the only reality show i’ve lives in my life. She is such a character 😂
I think the problem was timing. If she came out before Britney and Christina, things would have been different. Nearly all the girl pop singers that came out after B and C are singers no one remembers.
She can SANG. Her performance of Angels at VH1 Divas was phenomenal
It was horrible what are u talking about?!
She was better when she was herself, a ballad singer. Her label did her dirty by trying to turn her into Brittany. Bubblegum pop did not suit her voice, the girl has chops!
0.50 LOL "dressing conservatively" and she's in a very short tight dress with her stomach showing
Proof that following others won't just equate you success. Be yourself. No matter what.
The Britney clones were Mandy Moore, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Willa Ford, Brooke Hogan,
And also they Wanted Leann rimes to do music and videos like Britney and dye her hair blonde. Look at her video for life goes on and can't fight the moonlight. Very britney. I can go on and on with these Britney clones but y'all get where I'm going. There is only one Britney. And that is miss Britney Spears. She's the best.
Jajajajaj
@@dinasilva9263 haha Beyonce haha. When did she copy Beyonce. Oh sweetie go look at who opened up for Britney in 2000. It was destiny's child and also Pepsi commercial 2004. Britney was the center attention. Beyonce was left behind. And also Beyonce copied Britney's moves for slave for you in her video for dance for you. Haha Britney copies Beyonce. LMFAO
@@dinasilva9263 also yes Leann rimes was changed to Britney. She even said it dummy. Her can't fight the moonlight song and video came out in 2000. She even said she loved britney. So there's that. And xtina was also copy cat of Britney.
@@dinasilva9263 and apparently you didn't understand what I said cuz you said xtina and Leann rimes weren't copy cats but I did hear Leann rimes said they changed her image in the early 2000s to be like Britney. I'm just stating the facts and stop playing the victim. Go cry to your mommy. Lol. Girl bye.
Ok..calm down....LOL
For me Irresistible is her best album. Love most of the songs on the album. JSim is beautiful and talented.
In This Skin is her best too.
Honestly her 1st album I wanna love you forever is wonder and irresistible is amazing I think
