    If I could only have one, the Rat is more versatile and plays well with more amps. The Big Muff is appropriate in fewer occasions, and can be fussy about which amps it wants to play with. But when the situation is right, a Big Muff is so much fun.

    • @geoffreyvacher755
      @geoffreyvacher755 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think it also depends if you play gigs or not. The big muff is awesome at home or for recording but sometimes sound lost in the mix in band situation especially if there are two guitarists. The rats has a lot more mid, so it will be more present. My advice unlike you are the only guitarist in your band, big muff = home, recording
      Proco rat = live

    • @thebeingbecoming3596
      @thebeingbecoming3596 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@geoffreyvacher755 I can see what you mean but it's nothing some EQ-ing and knob twiddling won't fix. I used to play guitar in a band where the other guitar player used a Big Muff. His tone was very fat and hella present, but it did lack the definition to cut through during solos. He solved the problem by using a clean boost. But the Rat actually stacks really well with the Muff, so if you did have both pedals there would be no sense in leaving one in the studio and the other in the gig bag. Put the Rat in front of the Muff and prepare for fuzz heaven lol

    2 very different pedal the RAT uses an op-amp where as the muff uses transistors. RAT is more versatile just like the Swollen Pickle. The muff takes up so much real estate & has a small board inside no reason to have such a huge case.

    Both are so awesome. Personally I enjoy the big muff more just bc it’s what they used in the old days so turning that on to play your guitar just sounds so vintage but it’s all personal preference, I only listen to mostly late 80’s early 90’s music. I’m sure the rat would be great for recording if you want a new and clean modern sound on the recordings. Both are needed tho lolll
