If my son can land that job in NM, we are looking at Rio Rancho and Los Lunas. Can you tell me anything about those suburbs? Also, in Houston a wreck on the freeway can mean 2 hours in traffic. 20 mins sounds heavenly.
Ugh, I miss Albuquerque every day, grew up there and moved to the south from ABQ nearly ten years ago and I’m working every day towards moving back to NM. The weather, the architecture, and the landscapes are so beautiful, nothing here on the east coast even remotely compares. Even though I’ve spent more time in the south I still feel like a stranger here and still have a bit of a Burke accent. I’m living vicariously through your wonderful excursions through the city!! I hope to be back soon ❤❤
I love Hobbs, Las Cruces and Albuquerque very much. I discovered that Blake's can make you a green chile lotaburger for Breakfast and Sonic on Unser has great Green Chile Breakfast burritos. Also Frontier is pretty much the greatest restaurant of all time for late night Green Chile Stew, Posole, Western Hash browns (green chile) cinnamon rolls and fresh squeezed orange juice.
We learned the hard way about the long wait time to buy tickets in person at the Sandia Peak Tramway ticket office. As you say, we stood in line for about 40 minutes minimum. However, the ride and the views from the top are absolutely out of this world. I only wish we had watched this video the night before and purchased our tramway tickets on the web ahead of time. Excellent tip. 👍👍
I miss Albuquerque so much! I had to move away in 1995, but was kucky to visit again in 1997. Now in my old age, I'm fortunate to be able to visit Albuquerque again come this September 2024. Oh God I can't wait! I especially have missed the great Mexican food in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.....my mouth is watering! Lol 🤣😆😂
I hear you, once you've lived in or even visited New Mexico once, New Mexico stays with you for life. Enchanting place. Hope you have a great time in September! 😊😊
I grew up in Albuquerque, but moved away in '94. I visited a few times in the early 2000's and again in '06, but haven't returned since. Now I live on the West Coast in the Pacific Northwest. I've lived here near Portland, Oregon, almost as long as I lived in ABQ... crazy how time flies! I do have to admit that I miss Albuquerque every day due to the awesome weather and the awesome food! I had forgotten about green chili pizza... 🍕 💚 It's been too long, I need to come back and visit again.😁👍
Interesting that you first discuss elevation training. I grew up in Boulder, CO so I know all about it. Tons of runners, cyclists, and mountain climbers there.
@@AllAboutABQ Yep, and there is a super steep road (Flagstaff mtn) that goes up them that is like the "gaunlet" for cyclists. The Sandias actually remind me a lot of the Boulder foothills.
Been looking to move out west. Was really considering Tucson, AZ but the weather in ABQ seems much more tolerable. I keep seeing people say its boring but as an introvert, I don't mind that. The landscape and hiking seems awesome.
@unoved Haha, the sun does shine a lot in Albuquerque-more than 300 days a year! As for the air, it’s more like sagebrush and desert vibes than root beer, but hey, maybe that’s a special perk somewhere! And the towels? Only the fluffiest if you pick the right spot. 😄
Nice video. i live in Albuquerque and have since 1999 but that still doesn't make me a local (by local standards). I have to comment. Many times in this video you said, "Rio Grande river." Rio Grande in Spanish is Great River. So, what you were saying is the "Great River River." You should know that it should just be referred to as the Rio Grande. No extra "river" is needed.
I’d say u were a 3rd or 2nd baseman in ur baseball days….I was a pitcher…. Played two yrs community college and one year @ UOFA Wildcats then took a job offer in Diego 😎

I would never ride a bike on the roads here. Never, ever. I came from Portland, OR where there are actual laws that protect walkers and bike riders. Here, no one gives pedestrians or bicycles the right of way. Bike lanes are practically non-existent.
I was raised in the NE heights 6:43 . The Bosque is my favorite part of 505 culture. . Livijg in the valley is so much better. Dions is excellrnt! Isotopes is well done. But dukes por vida
I love how he’s always interjecting “lock your car”. 😂true dat. Abq has a reputation for crime but honestly, crime is everywhere. Don’t freak out, but do lock your car.
High-school rivalries go hard in abq. I went to la cueva. My mom in the 70's went to El Dorado. My grandma went to Albuquerque high. 505 is different. New Mexico is special.

If you’re alone and doing the La Luz trail how can you park 2 cars in 2 separate areas?
🚁🚁or hike up and then hike down!
Is NM like vegas where it stays 110-114 for 3 mos in the summer?
Not even close! Aside from last year, we typically see 5-10 days at 100 degrees.
Oh heck no! We hardly ever reach 100 F. And we also don’t get snowy and frozen all winter, though the mountain is right there for snow sports.
I'm going to Albuquerque in the fall of 2024.
