    Thank you, Faye, for highlighting this. It has been disconcerting that Mr. Wangchuk has to resort to this extreme measure and there is silence in the mainstream media.

    This is the voice of reason and this is not just Ladakh but pertains to the entire nation. If we do not resonate with this we will start to lose our identity not just in demographics but as a nation and its structure as well

    Have been to Ladakh after covid and seen the massive infrastructure projects. And am very appreciative of Mr. Wangchuk's concerns, specially after what has happened in Joshimath, Uttarkashi and Himachal. With the extensive drilling going on and the Himalayas being soft fold mountains, which the Centre is deliberately overlooking to position India as the newest power on the block, I fear very soon we will face a Leh and Ladakh crushed under the debris of massive landslides!! And yes, their culture is theirs and they have every right to protect it -- the government is behaving like a child with myopia in the name of security. So, my strong support to Mr. Wangchuk.

    • @parvati1984
      @parvati1984 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I absolutely agree with you. Something needs to be done to save Leh and Ladakh from these massive infrastructure onslaught. There are far more implications to the environment and the aftermath of the natural calamities will not be limited to Ladakh...it will affect the greater part of the entire country.

      @@parvati1984you are right in bringing up the issue of infrastructure development by destroying the majestic, prestine mountains so unique to this region.But at the local level we in ladakh have our set of biggies grabbing land, mountains and lakes to turn them into resorts . You will be shocked to see how mountains and mountains have been cut for construction materials. Ladakh is notorious for having land mafia,sand mafia,drug mafia and liquor mafia. I and many think that there maybe vested interests

    • @Adi-oc2hd
      @Adi-oc2hd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Govt is also not wrong in its part. It being mountainous doesn't mean govt will stop building roads and bridges in this region especially given the proximity to China border. While they can be more sensitive and careful, but you can't leave it without any development

    The concerns of our own in Ladakh need to be addressed immediately.. a border with China … is reason enough that such large scale demonstrations are best avoided .. the powers that be should understand their concerns and address them on priority.. any changes to the environment further escalate matters which will do no good to the region .. they have genuine concerns better agree for the good of all .. as also defence concerns

      What kind of gaslighting are you doing? Right now they only have one MP in parliament and since they only have parliamentary representation, it means Ladhakis' voice have absolutely no democratic power as the rest of non- Ladakhi members will be the ones qith power to decide what actually happens there as 1 members can do nothing. That is not what 'being part of India' means, but that instead it's being colonized and overpowered by non- Ladhaki Indians.
      Statehood means they will have Ladhakis representing their government and making decisions about governance of Ladakh. If they don't have statehood, the decisions about their region will be in the hands of parliament members who have absolutely no idea about Ladhak where they only have 1 MP.
      What is the point in having elections if they don't have any meaningful representation and will be at the mercy of parliamentarians who are not from Ladakh. It's the same as colonization.
      Think of it this way, if your state suddenly is stripped of its state legislative and then given just one MP, then all of what will happen in your state will then be decided by the majority MPs who are outsiders and probably has never even stepped foot in your state, doesn't know your language, doesn't know your geography, doesn't know your culture, while that one MP who actually knows anything will be powerless as just 1 mere vote.
      This is the same problem that South Indian states are at the verge of facing, as they are going to be punished for reducing population by cutting down their legislative seats.
      If I use the same logic as you, me and my neighbors will decide what happens in your home and if you say only you can make decisions about your own home, I could ask why do you want that separation? Are you going to male your home a separate country?
      It's called self rule, federal rights and equitable representation. 1 in 500 is not equitable democratic representation.
      Before you harp and gaslight someone, learn what a country and a colony is

I’ve been to Ladakh and I lived there with locals trying to understand their daily hustle and their shortcomings, especially in the extreme winter season when they have to face harsh subzero temperatures. Respect and appreciation maxxxx for all the people of Ladakh, I hope they get what they demanding along with govt’s plans to improve the infrastructure. I stayed at Pangong lake for almost a week with electricity that was just available for very few hours during the daytime only. It’s extremely difficult to live and progress in such conditions if there aren’t any proper facilities. I hope the govt will take proper measures to make sure that Ladakhi culture is protected as well as the region gets its fair share of technological advancements💗💗💗💗
