    Great history lesson on aluminum trees. I bought one about 4 years ago on eBay because it reminds me of my childhood.

    You didn't mention that the special "Charlie Brown Christmas" is given singlehanded credit for killing the aluminum tree fad.

    We had one in 1963, and as a thirteen year old, I used multicolored twinkle lights. It looked fantastic.
    Lights were not to be used which was pretty dumb, considering real trees have caused many fires and deaths over the years.
