  • Inky was phenomenal at our first ever scurry, being the smallest horse competing at 153cm he absolutely flew everything put at him, hedges taller than me (i’m 5ft10!!!) and him!!
    I have cropped the video slightly as we passed a fallen horse after being waved off of fence 8 due to a rider having fallen in the landing zone. We completed 14/18 fences, just a little scary moment at the end where he left a leg but did everything in his power to keep us upright and safe- but after that even though there was only a few left I decided to pull him up. I’d much rather us both come home and he’s too special to me to ever risk🤍
    Feeling honestly very lucky that I have such an agile honest little horse that looked after me so brilliantly today. After seeing a lot of fallers, both horses and riders, and the fact that only 20/53 horses completed the course- I am just in awe of this little guy and how safe he kept us🥰

    lord these events are so dangerous! You did so well with inky! I think too many people that aren’t ready for it take part 🙈 Inky looked like he loved it !

    It’s really lovely to see how much you care for your horse and others around you by making those wider turns with space and setting him up really nicely in a group.💕

    That’s quite an ask. And I think fitness could be an issue. For you both?! But what a chance to give it a go. He’s game I’ll give him that.

      Hi thanks for that comment but if you’re referring to my breathing I have asthma which is a medical condition. Inky was plenty fit but I was struggling with bits for him that would keep his head off the floor, I was trialling different ones at each outing, this bit did nothing for it and he wasted so much energy fighting me the entire way

      @@LilyEquestrian I too suffered with asthma and a mare that pulled my arms out. I hope you find your answer for your asthma its a nightmare and the right bit!

    Zero hate meant here, but I don't understand how someone can care about a horse's safety and then put them through something this. It's so dangerous.

    • @LilyEquestrian
      @LilyEquestrian  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Higher level eventing is also dangerous, as is racing, hunting and even showjumping. Hacking out on the roads is dangerous. You could argue that your horse is safest standing in the field doing nothing. He loves what he does and I just do my upmost to keep us both safe and always putting him first. If you don’t like it nobody is forcing you to watch

      @@LilyEquestrian It's almost as if horses shouldn't be used as disposable toys... 🤔
      You're clearly not putting him first by doing something as stupidly dangerous as this. This was all for you, and if Inky died you would call it a "freak accident" and not "I put my horse in a stupid position". Maybe we all should start seeing horses as living, breathing animals.

      @@CoraVocaloidUser horses die in the paddock and the wild. They’re not disposable they’re family members. But some of us enjoy risk and adrenaline and horses are no different. That horse pulled her all the way round. Some would have freaked out. As they say horses for courses.

      Worst accident I have witnessed in person after 50 plus years with horses was a gelding who broke his leg in a paddock. The majority of us care about our horses and they are our partners, no matter what we are participating in.
