Thank you for making this video. I wish someone would start with a dog who has never learned the concept of heal yet...... And show us how you start with a dog who doesn't know "heal". My puppy is 4 1/2 months.....
This is the 2nd real session, meaning I have been on a few hikes (maybe 2 or 4) and did a little heel (like 10 min total of 2 hour hike) using leash pressure or my foot to keep her by my side. Having said that, she is very smart and picks up very quickly. And for the person teaching her to heal, you have to be really specific in your mind where you were expecting her to be and it shouldn’t be more than a 12 inch box and imaginary box at your side whether it’s in front of your leg or just behind your leg or right next to your leg but if you’re clear on where you want your dog to be and you use a leash pressure and then reward with a toy, food or freedom then it won’t take long to get your dog to this point.
