    How is this accomplished? How much does it cost? How to proceed? I need to find a manual rump and turn it into cnc. But I am interested in having 5 independent axes to mill my ideas. Like a 16 mm diameter piston can be made in a ' single solution? I am waiting for info. Regards.

    Really nice work! To avoid back feeding on the Z I used a 10:1 reducer on my build. So far, it has worked really well.

    How did you figure out the weight needed for the headstock? Did you leave an offset to add rigidity?

  • @pecilijevelicanstveni4973
    @pecilijevelicanstveni4973 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome job! It seems to me a very strong and rigid machine. No vibrations.
    But, correct me if I am wrong...
    You are using only the half of the y-axis. The spindle center axis is on top over the X-axis center line (DIY CNC Mill part 3, time 10:03) but it should be at the front edge of the table so, when table moves forward, the spindle center axis is supposed to be on the rear end of the table. Am I correct? Or I didn't see all the movements. On my opinion, the spindle bracket needs to be longer.
    Also, if you flipped the X-axis carrier around the axis itself for 180 degrees, you could have some more travel. I am talking about to have one connecting plate sitting on the linear blocks of the Y-axis. Than connect the X-axis linear blocks to the plate. So, the X-axis table is moving all together with the linear guides, ballscrew and the motor. Than there is no need for the extra table plate!

    • @advanceair
      @advanceair  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pecilije Velicanstveni Thank you for your comment. You are right for Y axis on part 3. At that time I did not have extra 2 inches spacers for spindle bracket ready yet. On part 4 after installing the spacer I get full 12 inch Y travel. As for x axis I have plan to put longer table on it. Cheers.

    Great job on your machine .. I've been playing around for years with a CNC conversion I built. The problem is, the dovetails on those Chinese machines are so pathetic it's nearly impossible to keep them tuned-up & running good for any length of time before your back to lousy finishes & off sized parts.
