You may want to fill the vertical rectangular tube with hydraulic cement, or concrete, or epoxy granite mix to add damping to that element of your machine.
Hi Vince, Awesome machine. Did you consider the type of tap and die set you were using for the linear rails? That is, does it matter if the tap and die were fine or course type tap and die for the accuracy of the linear rails? Thank You, Brendan
@@advanceair Thanks for the quick reply. This is good news for me because I have the same 20mm Chinese rails laying in a corner for more then a year now and I was not sure of their performance, I thought that the most I can build out of them is a simple cnc router for wood or plastics, but it seems they are more capable then that, as long as the frame is stiff enough. Have you noticed any play in the carriages that impact the cutting performance?
What are the XYZ capacities? What size materials did you use? I am super interested in doing this myself and looking at different designs and methods.
What linear bearings and ball screws did you use? What spec?
great diy cnc. hope you finish early and have test . good luck
Minh DIY and CNC Thank you! working on it after work. Hope to finish it this winter.
Very nice design and build! Thanks for sharing.
