    Smoking can cause a lot of problems. When I was in college, I came back from a weekend visit with my parents and my roommate accused me of smoking. We were in a non-smoking dorm and I was almost kicked out. That was 40 years ago. Now in 2021 I was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). I found out it can come from 2nd hand smoke and my parents along with a lot of their friends were smokers. So, don't smoke. You'll hurt more than yourself. You'll hurt the ones you love.

    It seems that Tommy is not much of a friend to Greg. At first he didn't want to clear it up with Mr and Mrs Brady. Then when he told them he tried to get them not to tell his mother.

    • @jacobchang7165
      @jacobchang7165 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a great point about the dance, you know. Tommy almost made Greg miss it by unfairly getting him blamed by Mr. and Mrs. Brady. And I got to the part where his mother said to him (Tommy), "I expect we talk about it both before AND after we pick up your father!". So that means Tommy's parents actually punished Tommy this time. And only Greg and the other boys (from earlier in the episode) got to do the dance. Tommy was the only one who couldn't go to the high school dance. Because it is possible he was in trouble and/or grounded for a week (from the cigarette incident).
      However, if Tommy stated that the other two boys in his group (the other 2 musician friends --Johnny and Phil) gave them to him and forced him to smoke, Mrs. Johnson technically would have gotten it. She and Mr. Johnson still would have both understood Tommy's reasoning. (In fact, Johnny and Phil would have led Tommy to do it in the first place. So they had some nutty ideas with the cigarettes.) Their lie got Tommy in trouble, followed by Tommy's lie who got Greg in trouble, and followed by Mrs. Johnson who told both Johnny and Phil's parents. So of course, Tommy was telling the truth that both Johnny and Phil were forcing him (Tommy) to do it and they (Johnny and Phil) both did it first. But still, it was no excuse. So all three of the other three musician friends (Tommy, Johnny, and Phil) all got in trouble by their parents for smoking. Greg did not want any part in this. So I am happy he said "No" in the first place (at the beginning of the episode --that S2 episode "Where There's Smoke").
      The "deleted scene" would have ultimately been Tommy telling his story to his parents both before and after he and his mother picked up Mr. Johnson from the airport. I mean, "His story about Johnny and Phil who forced him to do it and got him in trouble". Mr. and Mrs. Johnson both would've gotten that fact. But Tommy still was in trouble and lost his privilege to go to the dance. And only Greg got to go to the high school dance. Now I was like, "But who could he do his musician performance with if the three other boys got grounded?". Well, I do have a good point about Peter, Marcia, and Jan being the musician boys's understudies (I mean, "Tommy, Johnny, and Phil's understudies".) Because none of the other Brady kids smoked. (NOTE: Bobby and Cindy were way too young. So they did not go to the dance. Just the older Brady siblings Greg, Peter, Marcia, and Jan. Peter, Marcia, and Jan would have done the four other songs after Greg did his song performance "Clowns Never Have Laughed Before". So Greg's teacher would have made the performance be Greg, Peter, Marcia, and Jan play the song at the dance "Clowns Never Have Laughed Before". Instead of doing it as "The Boys Quartet", it would have been changed to "The Brady Sibling Quartet" performed by Greg, Peter, Marcia, and Jan.)
      If I were in Greg's position and Tommy, Johnny, and Phil all got grounded (and weren't able to do the dance that year), I would perform this song at the dance with Peter, Marcia, and Jan instead. The show still went on. But I would have been 100 percent satisfied if Peter, Marcia, and Jan were Tommy, Johnny, and Phil's understudies. (That is, after Tommy, Johnny, and Phil got in trouble by their own parents and/or were grounded for a week.) And since Tommy, Johnny, and Phil were unable to help Greg (as Tommy got in trouble --despite Johnny and Phil both forcing him to do it), Peter, Marcia, and Jan ultimately stepped in to do it with Greg.
      So Peter, Marcia, and Jan stepping in for Tommy, Johnny, and Phil for Greg's performance and joining Greg would have made an excellent deleted scene. That is, in addition to Tommy telling his story about the other 2 musician boys (Johnny and Phil) getting him in trouble for using the cigarettes and them putting the cigarettes in Tommy's jacket. I mean, "Tommy telling his story to both his parents after he and Mrs. Johnson picked up Mr. Johnson from the airport". As for the other 3 boys in the musician quartet (Tommy, Johnny, and Phil), they were grounded from music and dances for a week. In fact, they were grounded from not only that. They were also grounded from sports, Nintendo games, other electronics, AND hanging out with each other and other friends (except for school) for a week. That is, and they could only leave the house to go to school and could only see their friends during school hours (while grounded for a week).

      While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I fear that you’re putting too much emotional energy into this. It’s an episode of Brady Bunch, which is as unreal as it is unrealistic. By this point in Barry Williams’ actual life, he was already smoking pot and having sex. He was also smoking cigarettes. So with regard to Greg tossing his orange-haired pal under the bus, I maintain, “Dick move, Greg.”

      I remember reading about Barry Williams smoking cigarettes during his teenage and young adult life. However, he gave it up later on. Good for him!
