Let's be clear, this flotilla will NOT be "equal or greater to an American strike group".... It's an outstanding achievement none the less and a force mutiplier.
@Brett Mitchell Only four of those ships are actually RN vessels. Let's say they were; three T45s and three T23s. A T45 has 48 VLS tubes and CAN carry 8 obsolete Harpoons (neither of the ships in the current deployment has them, though one has provision to). A T23 has one 32 cell VLS for self defence Sea Ceptor only. A US CSG has between three and five support ships comprising 1-2 Cruisers and 2-3 destroyers. The Ticonderoga cruiser carries 2 61-cell VLS launchers plus eight Harpoon. An Arleigh-Burke destroyer has either a 90 or 96 cell VLS system and may carry two Harpoon. Fully kitted a UK CSG would field 48 Harpoon (doubtful we still have that many launchers), 144 full VLS tubes and 96 self-defence VLS tubes. The smallest US CSG could field 12 Harpoon and 300 full VLS tubes. That's without factoring in the carriers, where a US CSG has E2-C Hawkeye AEW aircraft and does not rely on helicopter to spot incoming threats!
@Brett Mitchell 18 F-35B's with very short legs or 64 F-18's with mid air refueling from the same carrier. Also, a compliment of another 26 support aircraft. Sorry UK Commander, that is not equal to or greater then a Nimitz Class Strike Battle Group. Don't wish to sound patronising, so apologies in advance, however, we are Great Britain/UK & not England. I may be English 1st & British 2nd, but we are internationally recognised as British & stronger for it. Props to the other sister nations that make us much stronger. Even in the American Revolutionary War, we were, as we are now - British :)
@@thomasfoltin3832 No worries - a lot of folk make the same mistake, but Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland are often forgotten where the UK is concerned & to me, even though I'm English, those countries are just as significant as England.
Love the fact that we are part of this mission. Could someone tell me something more about the role of the Dutch frigate HNLMS Evertsen? I know that the air defense capabilities are incredible. Greetings from your neighbor across the North Sea 🇳🇱
Interesting to think about that, actually. So normally, the UK's CSGs are going to be similar to US CSGs minus the cruiser which the UK doesnt have. So normally, a UK carrier strike group would be "weaker" than a US CSG- except that this particular UK CSG is significantly augmented with allied ships: the carrier plus 2 UK destroyers, and 1 more powerful US destroyer, + 1 frigate each from Aus, UK and Netherlands, plus the sub and supply ship. So 1 US destroyer and 2 UK ones plus 3 frigates, vs what the minimum the US rolls with: a cruiser and only 2 destroyers (but realistically in an actual war this number would be doubled at minimum if theyre smart...) anyway, same number of 1 carrier and supply ship, so basically as long as we say both CSGs have only 1 attack sub, its 3 very powerful ships vs 3 average strength, 2 above average and one very powerful ship: I give it to this UK strike group, so yes this statement is theoretically true. While it is unknown how many submarines a US CSG actually has (traditionally they will usually have one ANNOUNCED), its easily possible and would be smart for all US CSGs to have at LEAST 2 attack subs with them at all times considering how big a target they are. But considering just whats unclassified that we know, yeah Id say that statement is actually true
It's a pretty formidable CSG, one QE Class Carrier, 2 Type 45 destroyers, 2 Type 23 frigates, 1 Astute Class submarine, 2 RFA support ships along with 1 Arleigh Burke Destroyer and 1 Dutch Frigate. Also along for the ride are18 F-35's and numerous helicopters and a tidy sized force of Royal Marines and US Marines. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇳🇱✌✌✌
Carriers are extremely vulnerable and rapidly becoming an outdated concept. We saw this during a war games exercise between the Swedish navy and US navy wear during the war games a Swedish diesel powered sub managed to sink a US carrier
@@nosamsemaj9150 I think our carrier task forces have more than a few tricks up their sleeves. Carriers certainly aren't invulnerable, but they do allow a projection of power worldwide. Combined with all other capabilities, they are still some of the most powerful military tools in the world.

That's what I was thinking, what a stupid statement.
There’s only one way to find out... 1v1
It's really good and all but... "Equal or greater than a US AC Strike Group". Stop that. ^^'
as a brit myself i agree that comment wasnt needed

@@oslogrigor8320 they’re great at everything apart from fighting near-peer adversaries (like China or Russia) because the massive threat of the long range hyper sonic anti ship missiles they possess.
@@nosamsemaj9150 True, but those weapon systems work both ways. Carrier Task Force groups have an effective multi-layered defense system.
