- Here are the two Peter's, that is, Peter Allen and Bernadette Peters in a "Salute to Irving Berlin", an exquisite and lavish production number of Berlin's hits at the 55th Academy Awards in 1983. The choreography was by Walter Painter. Irving Berlin was almost 95 years old when he was given this splendid salute (he died at age 101 in 1989). Sorry the video is blurry.

I have no idea why they didn't get a deserved standing ovation? Continuous amazing, extremely physical dancing & singing, the choreography and orchestration? And I can't figure out if it is just pre-recorded vocals with a live orchestra or a combination of that with entirely prerecorded music? .Peter's continous singing as he leaps to the stage's third tier vs., (Bernadette's "No Business" mini vocal sound drop- out, as the orchestra is still playing.). I kp rewinding to Peter's FLAWLESS gymnastics as he almost flies up on his own, yet takes a mini lift as he continues to sing "...Piano". I think most ppl wld hv needed a drink & a bed by the time he's dancing atop of the piano! The whole thing is perfect! Thank you again for the full video, (& it's not blury), & remembering my watching this with my homophopic dad enjoying this so much & being so oblivious. It is one great performance 😀.
I can't tell if they are lip-syncing or not, but they might be due to having to move around a lot. They would probably sound out of breath after a while if they were singing live. So glad you enjoyed the video:)
