Everyone asks about the Selkie Puff Dress - is Selkie worth it? Is it really worth the price? I tentatively purchased two of the cheaper items on their website, and I was so impressed that I went ahead and purchased two of their most expensive dresses. I picked up The Romance Novel Dress and The Lickidy Split Ritz Gown, as well as the Pub Garden Sweatsuit and The Black All Day Sweats. Which Selkie item was your favourite? Would you like me to make another video about Selkie? Maybe I can buy a few different versions of The Selkie Puff Dress next time!

Modal is one on THE most sustainable fabrics. I've written my Bachelor's on sustainable fabrics and Modal is actually very good. I'm so glad it is actually used in clothing because I have never myself seen a piece made of Modal.
The combination with cotton (unless it is the sustainable cotton) makes the piece a bit less sustainable (as all blends of mulitple fibres do) but still, am happily surprized.

This is not inherently true. It depends strongly on where and how it is made.
Modal is my SO favorite fabric! They love the Calvin klien modal t shirts modal men’s underwear undershirts…but they are so expensive. It is such a soft fabric. Any suggestions for more reasonable modal clothes particularly t shirts?

Many clothing companies will only patent extremely unique patterns they have made. The puffy dress pattern isn't anything new so many people will make it, since a lot of older patterns are creative commons. As for graphics and special fabric patterns that is a whole different story.
In the us they usually can’t patent it unless it’s extremely unique because clothing is seem as more utilitarian than art in our laws. It’s different in other parts of the word tho (I’m not an expert I just like my random tidbits of info)

you should see my place. despite being danish ( scandi style is white and grey, very daring a bit of blue) I dont have white or grey, except for the wooden ceiling. I have lime green walls and oak furniture. warm and cosy. white walls give me stress. feel free to experiment with colors, find the combination that makes you happy.

@@theworldof11 hvad gør I så til jul. de samme farver eller lidt mere spræl. det er det eneste tidspunkt jeg har lidt hvidt i huset, selvom jeg nemt kan skifte da jeg selv producerer julepynt.

Modal is a 'semi-synthetic' fiber--it's made from cellulose, apparently from beechwood (other viscose/rayon products use bamboo or other wood pulps). It has to be processed, and extruded, and go through a couple of conditioning phases, but 1) many of these processing materials can be reused, and 2) modal will completely biodegrade in a relatively short amount of time, even in a landfill, when it has reached the end of its useful life. But it's also fairly easy care, so that's pretty awesome too!
It's basically pure cellulose, made so that it feels very silky and comfy. I love modal. I would only dress in modal and tencel if I could :D
It's also just the nicest, softest, most breathable material. I wish I had more of it!

You need a couple petticoats, possibly even a hoop skirt under both of those dresses. That would help raise them up off the ground and make them more of the circles skirt shape that you're going for.
The romance dress has what seems to be an empire waist which is supposed to sit at the ribs just below the chest, not at the natural waist line :)
The size chart said “high waist” which is between an empire and a natural waist.
To be honest, yes it’s expensive but I’d rather spend the money on a selkie and buy one of those as a wedding dress and be able to wear it for other special occasions, even Renaissance faires! Seems worth it for the gloriousness
I don’t mind the price but the product is made in China where labour is cheap and I don’t think the workers are paid well. I wouldn’t mind paying so much on companies that pay their workers well.
@@angelicapascua1178 if that’s the case then I’m happy that the workers are paid well. Many companies source products from China for cheap labor so it’s hard to trust companies and their pricing.

My one comment will not harm the company’s reputation as it is a well established company already. People will always buy products from their favourite creator even if they are not ethical or sustainable. If my comment seems to be harming a company’s reputation then I will gladly delete it.

They aren't really my style let alone I would have NO WHERE to wear them (let alone justify the money to purchase one) but wow did these look amazing on you. The first dress could use a petticoat of some kind to give it volume which will lift it off from the ground to a more wearable length

i feel like they sell out too fast for her to do a full haul of clothes she likes. plus, by the time the video’s out, there’d be no way any of it would still be in stock.
that being said, i’ve bought a couple things from them and they’ve never had any dissapointing/unexpected flaws. since most of their clothes are comfortable streetwear, i think that as long as you like how something looks on the pictures, it won’t disappoint
I bought a couple of things from Teddy fresh a while back. I was so impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. I keep going back with each launch. I’m the type of person that loves to thrift however teddy fresh has impeccable quality and I loved every piece thus far. I highly recommend! Only complaint I have with teddy fresh is they need to add more spandex into the non-sweatpant pants but that’s just a personal preference😉
For the price of the dress, and the fact that they're pre-order/made-to-order, you'd think they would allow you to at least customize the length! Azazie is an ethically-made dress company that only charges 1-2 hundred dollars per dress, and you can either do a standard size OR add all your individual measurements!! Very beautiful, but I would be sad to have to get alterations on a dress I already spent that much on.

On their sit you can add a note to your order so i think you could use that to request a smaller sizing for the skirt, not sure though
I had to get one shortened and I got a size too big so had to take it in and it was like $50 or more 🥲

Modal is made of birchwood, its has all the plusses of cotton and is also used as fake silk. Its super soft and comfy! Modal is litterly the best fabric you can wear!

Modal is probably the nicest fabric I've ever worn. I had a modal cardigan I adore. it's so lovely. The only problem is it pilled like crazy.
I own one old H&M cardigan that has a tiny amount of Angora in it and damn I love that thing so much that now after 10 years of owning it I looked through all secondhand websites to find a second one just in case something happens to my original one. I never owned two of the same clothes besides maybe jeans in two different colors but the same style but damn do I love this cardigan and I would be heartbroken if I ever lost it.

When I was 6 years old I designed my own wedding dress and my Gran sewed it together for me from scraps.

I can totally visualize this beautiful Pink dress as bridesmaids dresses for a Summer/ Spring 💒 wedding, or for Prom, and based on the simple design, a dressmaker could remake/copy it for far less than $470.🤔

So, when you put on the boots in the dress you turned into a pastel tall lady (resident evil) and I gasped. 😅 it's beautiful and Daniel is the sweetest ever.
Yeaaah in the first lockdown here in the UK I didn't go out of my front door for 58 days straight (yeah I counted). Luckily after that there was no restriction on going for walks or e.g. driving to somewhere to go for a walk so it's been better since then.
P.S. would love to see an video about your plants again, either a "haul" showing off your latest new plants or an overall plant tour of your collection! You inspired me to get into plants and it's mostly been going well for me! I had a couple of unfortunates that never recovered after shipping trauma but for the most part I've done really well over the past few months and have about 25 nice plants now!

I have a tea length teuta matoshi dress that I bought for my undergrad piano and tech senior recital. If you can BUY THE EXPENSIVE FROOFY DRESS!! You will not regret it!! I am so happy I got that dress and wore it, my friends were absolutely amazing with the complements, and it was probably the best ive ever felt in clothing ever!

Its great to know their size chart is actually piece accurate, but I don't think I could personally justify the cost. Definitely seem like a great option for a wedding/formal event. The height for the romance dress is intense, great for taller people though! :0

Fantastic as always! I have to say, I did check out Selkie after watching this video not expecting much for me (I love the look but I'm a US size 18/20)... and they are incredibly size inclusive! I find that to be a rare and admirable trait among designer brands. Their dresses go all the way up to a 5x (roughly a US size 22) which I'm super excited about! Definitely gonna buy one of the shorter dresses. I loved the Ritz dress, but can't justify the cost if I'm not gonna wear it constantly. Thank you for your videos! You're awesome.
