Just bought a russian spindle from the Spanish Peacock. I will watch this video over and over. Love that there is just video, no music or chatter, Really helps me concentrate. I hope to take a Fleegle class in person someday :)

This is the video that made supported spinning suddenly click for me. I echo what everyone else has said...your spinning is mesmerizing and so much fun to watch! And the move where you give the spindle a twist and smoothly wind on your spun single....that blows me away! Off to practice! Thank you for the inspiration.

I loved watching my granny doing things you demonstrated in this video when I was a kid :) what a pity it is that I didn't learnt it from her

What is the fiber type and preparation you're spinning? You do a beautiful job.

You are mesmerizing to watch :) I started out using a spinning wheel, but the drop spindles are fun to use too :) The Spanish Peacock does such good work, and is such a sweet fellow :)

Thank you for the video! I was wondering what would be a better lace spindle to start with - Russian or Tibetian? Does Tibetian have more momentum? What sizes are to buy and most importangly - where to buy them? Thank you,
    Iryna

Tibetan, for sure. More momentum. Check out the spindles forums on Ravelry--there are lots of sellers.

hi i have a question can you use sewing thread as a leader for lace spinning on a supported spindle ?

You can, but it's very smooth. You're better off just using a bit of grabby wool.

Nice to see and spin along :o) is she left handed? I drill the spindle with my right hand.

That spindle doesn't spin that long. Do all Russian spindles stop so soon?

    • @AndrewKimmey

If an empty, well-balanced Russian spindle is spun hard they will spin for maybe 30 seconds at most. When spinning the time is shorter though. It's just because they spin so fast that they lose energy very quickly.

The more yarn that is in the cop, the longer they spin. Weight ^ = momentum^ .
