    Bad shout that Ian, shipping out a couple of days before they increase the visa exempt to 60 days,.it all happened a bit fast,.any questions asked about the one way tkt at the Thai airways check in at LHR ? Love those half empty flights,. I’m going out on a one way tkt next trip, saves a bunch of agro on predicting return dates to uk, good idea if your staying long term, hopefully I’ll be out for 15 months minimum soon,. Enjoy.

      60 days was only announced yesterday so too late for me.
      onwardticket.com/ only cost me $16
      As I used the website to check in and only needed bag drop I didn't see any staff that could have asked me. In Bangkok, I wasn't asked although I was expecting to be asked.
      The flight was less than a quarter full so the cabin crew loved it. Best and fastest service I have ever had!

      They usually ask to see a return OR onward ticket on check in, but sometimes they don't. It all depends on the check in staff I think, but good to have, to save hassle and delays at check in.

    Hi,Ian.
    Good to see you back again buddy.I always prefer TG911 as, you say it gets you into BKK around 6-6.30 am.For me I go to Phuket on a connecting flight so, about an hour and, a half at BKK untill I depart.Sounds very interesting,very informative almost felt as if I was there.Thanks Ian,have a good stay and,I will catch you on the next.Sawadee Krap.😊🙏

    • @Blackinthailand
      @Blackinthailand  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes TG911 is good for connecting flights.
      Also good to just get into Bangkok early and if you can get an early check in then good to get a nice shower and rest before heading out for evening drinks.
      Thanks for watching.

    Hi Ian, may I ask if the plane is so empty, is it acceptable to lay down across a row of seats to try and get some decent sleep?

    • @Blackinthailand
      @Blackinthailand  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On this flight everybody did.
      I had a row to myself and did just that.

    Flew with Thai LHR-BKK and back in May. On the way there, empty row and able to lie down, on the way back middle seat was free but unable to lie down. Having flown non direct multiple times, I will never do so again. The extra circa 200 quid is so worth it for me. Flying back on the 00:55 flight is also perfect, able to sleep on the plane and then straight back on to UK time when back, even with 12 hour work day the next day I felt fine.

    Halfway through this video and enjoying it, in last few days iv been trying to convince myself to book for Bangkok for next week and this video doing a good job in convincing me! Was thinking of booking a one way as I don't know if I will stay for 2 weeks or 28 days , but worried it might be an issue

      Go for it. Book a one way ticket then
      onwardticket.com/
      and book your "onward" ticket.

    I would have loved to have seen some of the flight. Like you said it was empty, if there where people sat next to you. What the food was like, so in. Still enjoyed the video so thank you but was looking to try and decide between that and Eva.

      I don't like filming when on the plane. Tried it in the past and always get angry looks from other passengers and staff.
      Maybe I always end up on the wrong flights?

    I always prefer the morning flight and gives u a full day in Thailand when u arrive. The good thing about Thai airways they have 3-3-3 configuration on there 777 unlike a lot of other airlines eg emirates

      The times Thai Air fly suit me better.
      If another air line did the same times and was cheaper I would use them.

    Flew Thai buisness class recently and thought it had gone down hill. At the united air lounge at Heathrow the showers were unavailable. The buisness class cabin looked tired, meals where inedible and in flight entertainment was shocking. It used to be so much better. Eva business class also poor these days

    • @Blackinthailand
      @Blackinthailand  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Business class I just cant justify spending that much money for a ticket.
      And if the service i a poor as you say then no way am I going to book that.

    Fictitious bookings, lying about Heathrow Express. You naughty boy.
    Just joking Ian. Looking forward to your future vids.
    Just out of curiosity, how the fk do you book a fictitious flight ?? they usual ask to see the ticket.

    • @Blackinthailand
      @Blackinthailand  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you don't ask you don't get, He who dares wins!
      Goto Onward Ticket, onwardticket.com/
      I wasn't asked either end if I had an onward ticket this time so I didn't actually need it but it only cost me $16.

    Seems the airlines would rather the plane fly empty than offer lower fares. A lot of flight revues showing lots of empty seats lately. Yet Thailand just announced longer visas stays and easier entry for many nations. As inflation and a falling economy begins to bite. Tough times coming for all these countries that rely on tourism. And airlines bury their heads in the sand rather than fill seays.

    • @Blackinthailand
      @Blackinthailand  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The airlines book the slots and routes so have to fly or they lose both.
      £500 for a one way ticket is too high though. I once paid £420 return!

    • @chrisrussell6781
      @chrisrussell6781 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes,it does seem a bit short sighted. Thai Airways are quite expensive now so I have started using Eva with no complaints.

    • @Marcho978
      @Marcho978 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not necessarily. Sometimes this is done intentionally for cargo capacity rather than passenger service. In the context of Thailand, that country does export quite a few things to the UK and Europe, like tropical fruit and veg, fresh tuna/prawns etc. On the return leg the UK does export high end engineering equipment, medical devices etc which may be too high value to sit on a cargo ship for months. The airlines make a huge premium from air cargo, sometimes more than what people pay in the cabin above.
      It’s the same reason why Turkish Airlines sends A330/A350/787 and even the 777-300ER to Heathrow daily. Unless it’s peak school holiday season, airlines like TK make a loss on their passenger revenue with every wide body they fly to Heathrow. But as far as I’m aware, the bottom of these widebodies are again rammed full of fresh fruit and veg, seafood and perishable goods for the UK supermarkets. Talk about why the cost of Mediterranean sea bass from Turkey at the local fishmonger is so high; it’s because the airlines take a huge premium for bringing it to you.
