Time flies..Wu Tang clan woke me up and gave me supreme knowledge of self and gave me an insight on how you can be unique and different and still be fly or popular. Peace to the Gods and Earths
Indeed Back in '82 in Brooklyn, the West Indian brothers was wearing Clark Wallabees, Clark Padmores and Clark Weavers. American born blacks saw the shoe in the late 60's/early 70's and laughed at them. This was still the era of Playboys. By the early 80's brothets born in the states started wearing them too. Back then they were anywhere from $65 to $115 depending on where u copped them from. My 1st pair was in '86 (blue suede) on Liberty Ave in ENY. These was the alternative hip hop shoe in the street next to Bally Siestas. British Walkers had started to become scarce because Wallabees had become more accessible. Definitely was the brothers from "yard" that made this a popular shoe 1st.
Firstly..R.I.P A-Son Unique... Secondly.. Thank you to all Wu members (and affiliates) for helping create (like Charlamagne said) the soundtrack to my life.. Mixing two of my loves..Hip Hop and Shaolin flicks.. To stunning effect... Peace
GZA's one of the most articulate MCs. He's like a "non-rapper" rapper with him not really using these street slangs and such to convey his message. He's a unique breed. Probably why they respect him so much - you can see how Ghostface just waits on him when he says something.
I never understand how artists always seem to know way less about when their albums came out or who said what lyric or whatever. I guess when you make an album you’re not listening to it over and over for 25 years so it makes sense in that regard. Either way, the Wu has stood the test of time and has managed to create some of the most important art of the last 100 years. After twenty something years I STILL fuck with the Wu regularly. I may have to get my hands on the cream joints.
Daniel Atoche-Juárez ya it’s common that artist have to go listen to their stuff before they perform if it’s old stuff it’s hard to keep creating and store everything up there at the same time
Went to their concert in Seattle,it was lit af!!much blessings to ydb for doing his dads music and embodying the spirit of his father!!!! #wutang forever
Ghostdini is such an embodiment of Hip Hop, still showing and proving with knowledge of self. GZA provides the lyrical and mental cypher that is the backdrop of graffiti, breaking, MCing and DJing. 360 degrees!
Raekwon did 2 as well as Method Man and ODB always had billbord hits before he died. Plus RZA held it down with the movies, books, gear, and other business ventures. Everyone in the Clan played there part but 👻 face was the most consistent with banging albums. Raekwon also always gave us bangers especially everything after cuban link 2 he been doing his thang.
@Glock hands87 So would you say Ghost went commercial/sold out during the Puffy era or he had enough dexterity not to be a grumpy sectarian purists Hip-Hop old head. Like you said, i bet besides show money they were missing ALOTTA feature$ from the youth.
I got married to that...told my best men...blue and cream. I had cream wallabees cream vest and blue slacks and coat...plus a cream kangol👐 swear to god. Salute
We called them British Walkers they were classy suede multi colored shoes some were leather, and had different colors on the side of the shoe. They were popular with sheep dawg's (Coats) in the 1980's.
I think it was the commendatory of the entire clan...They all appeared on each others albums and videos...people love to see that, especially being that it was a bunch of hood black dude doing something good...
Chris Whitley #Facts Everything slowly starting to decline after the 90’s from music, movies, sitcoms, you name it. I was born in 81 so I was at least able to catch some of the residue from the 70’s. The 10’s was the beginning of the end.
Speaking of Clarks and the wutang. Wutang is most definitely for the children too. Clarks in England, when it comes to finishing summer holidays. Back to school range shopping Clarks are first choice to with most school uniforms. Facts!.
With the quality going down over the years like people say, you think it’s still worth buying them? I want a pair but I’ve heard a few people say the ol “they don’t make em like they used to”
The original Wu Wear wallies were way harder than all these. I had the black and red joints and by the time I was ready to cop the sky blue and navy joints they had stopped making them! Damn what a shame and Ghost and Clark's should've been hooked up cuz he was the one who made them shits mainstream again
You can tell the interviewer is like “yeah” “yeah” “right” but can’t connect with how dope wu tang was and how impactful .. not her fault but goddamn was that some powerful shit.. still is
Ayo son I'm gonna rock ninjas this summer boom check it out all you all you dye is this ish right here and it will be like blue and cream...you gotta dip it like it's marble cake 😎
I had a dope Wu Wear puffy jacket that got lost in a house fire I miss that thing 😔. Ha Rocking g some Wu Wear and some wallabees back in the day you was the shit .Not only did they change the face of hip hop but fashion and trend setters as well.
wu tang is basically the grunge of rap. thays why it was popular across boards in 1993. but it had way more musical potential and strength than a lot of those grunge bands thats why its still relevant and loved today
Ghostface is my Favorite bro. Im with you on that. Then Busta Rhymes. Then Big L... Then Jay-Z...Then Jada... then BIG... Now Conway the machine and Westside Gun.... and my List can go on for ever. MY FAVORITES
Shan was the first Emcee I ever heard scratch his words on a record in a verse. . At some point in the song words to my freestyle off of his Born to be wild album
The main reason white kids like me got into Wu-Tang in winter ‘93/‘94 was due to the 101 skate(boarding) video “Snuff” (which was only 8 minutes long), which dropped Fall 1993. In the final part of the video, Gino Iannucci had “Method Man” as his soundtrack/song, so that put Wu-Tang on my radar and made me take notice when they were featured on Yo! MTV Raps while making the “...Mystery of Chessboxin’” video. Then I bought the 36 Chambers tape and have been a fan since. Skateboarding is inadvertently responsible for a lot of early white Wu-Tang Clan fans.
I had the black suede joints back in 86... we called them wallabees and dropped the clarks. Could always tell the genuine from the fake as the genuine pair had the kangaroo on the side. Cost £30.00 Not no $190.00 ! Lol
You both realise that the shoes aren’t called Clark’s, Wallabees is the name of the shoe design but they were invented by a British shoe company called Clark’s. Which is how the shoe became famous in the first place was that they were relatively successful as shoes in Britain which then got passed onto Jamaicans who for some reason took a liking to them and it became part of Yardie style in London and in Jamaica itself. I’ll assume that’s then what transplanted it into black culture in the US. Either way when Clark’s are mentioned in the title or the video, it means that Wu tang are collaborating with the company that makes the shoe.
The dopest thing about this, is seeing GFK & GZA in an interview setting. You never see these two together.
Right!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁
True
I was thinking the exact same thing! It’s funny you said it 🤣
GZA is one of the most profound lyricist of all times 🎤🔥
Girl: what means protect your neck?
Gza: self explanatory
Underrated post.

Liquid Swords was hella Classic!!!
I copped the yellow joints, WU TANG !!!!! You can tell the female knows absolutely nothing about Wu Tang or Clarks
Yeah she was lost
The purple tape addition I just copped and I received rave reviews for them
"Ghostface Kill" yeah she really don't
Should have got a different interviewer who knew more about them.
facts gotta get like Kari Champion or somebody sexy and older who knows the scoop son!

GZA could rhyme on a track with any of the Emcee legends . Would love to see him do a record with the likes of Nas, Rakim and Brother J .
Brother J and GZA are so underrated!
Ghostface single handedly held the WU down for 15+ years.
That's for damn surr
