Great reaction video!!! The original video missed a major point .Ramadan is not the same time every year it changes because our Muslim calendar is based on the moon and not the sun. So a few years ago we fasted in July and in a few years it will be in December.

The video was missing some important aspects, like that the month of Ramadan changes every year; it gets pushed back by 11 days each year. About 10 years ago it was taking place in August-September where the sun goes down at like 9pm and rises around 3am which only gives you a window of 5-6 hrs to eat and drink. This is because the Islamic calendar is based on the lunar calendar which revolved around the changing cycles of the moon. The greater wisdom here is that if you live long enough you would eventually have faster during every month, season, weather of the year. Quite beautiful really but can be tough on people living near the north pole as they have very little window to eat and quite a large one to fast, some fast nearly 20 hrs a day!

It also specifies you have to spend whole day without eating or drinking but fasting isnot just starving it also manifests that you also have to keep urself far from all kind of sins and also an individual should not lie , misbehave ,curse or get angry too.

Salem. Fasting is more than depriving onself from food. Firstly, our stomach works all the year round, involving heart activity, kidney... fasting helps the body to rest, eliminating toxines, one 1 month out of 12 months, let say a yearly maintenance. Besides the physical aspect, one learns to control their body, it is a self descipline it make people mentally stronger. Lastly, This practice allows people to endure hanger and thus feel the suffering of the needy. It makes the heart grow more compassionate and it enhance one's empathy for others. It is easy to dehumanitize people with materialism, gluttony and lust. Fasting keep us down to earth, makes us more grateful for what we have and make us more aware of others.

2:04 As someone who did that, I say not drinking a lot of water after night makes it much easier than drinking a lot before the morning. I think it's because if you drink a lot st once, you subconsciously instruct your stomach to need a lot of water during the day, but when you don't change how much you drink in a normal day, you'll find yourself able to handle the thirst better.

Just a note: Ramadan changes yearly.
So Ramadan is based on the lunar calendar, which is 354 days long, shorter than the 365 days of the Gregorian calendar. For this reason, the holy month moves back about 10 or 11 days every year.
For this reason we get to fast in the looking hours of August going up to 18hours of fasting, and in December a lottt shorter.
    Hope this helps.

Good on you for taking time to learn more… here are few other points
    1. We do drink in the AM and a lot more in PM but best is to have cantaloupe, watermelon or any other melon because it takes longer for body to process
    2. Gains don’t have to be lost; in fact pro weightlifters will fast before competition to lose last bits of fat and get leaner; think intermittent diet; works almost the same way; we are just more mindful when performing exercise
    3. Fasting is now being used in cancer treatments and Nobel Prize was given for proof of atrophy; meaning your body will break down damaged cells so extremely helpful in fighting many diseases including cancer
    4. You still eat the same number of calories, protein etc: just at particular time; giving your body time to heal in between
    5. Electrolytes are a MUST

Ramadan is a Bootcamp for faith renewal
Fasting is not only from food and drink, fasting from everything that is wrong and bad including lying, back bighting, etc., while doing all that is right and good.
You can also think of Ramadan as a bootcamp for faith renewal. It renews and reinforces your connection to your creator, it reminds you of the blessings of your creator, it reminds of those who are less fortunate, etc.
After that, you are recharged and ready to take on another year of worldly distractions.
Another impact that I have experienced when fasting a whole month:
It takes you off your regular eating and sleeping routine that becomes boring and dull.
Believe it or not, food is much much much much more enjoyable after a whole month of fasting. It stays that way for several months until it fades away.
You have a strong feeling of renewal and rejuvenation. Again, that great feeling stays with you for several months but it fades away also.
You enjoy life better than before fasting until the next Ramadan when you need to recharge again.
Fasting is also healthy for your body and psychologically as well.

So Ramadan is opening at 7 35 pm for me and normally i'll wait an hr after eating to work out so around 8 30 pm but sometimes depending on Iftaar (breaking fast) plans i workout an hr before opening fast. Today i'll be going in at 6 and working out til 7 and then eating soon after so its blessed. It's really not that difficult, does your body good.

i do workout while fasting in ramadan, i workout in the afternoon and it's really not that hard. it sounds scarier than it really is. i barely start getting thirsty by the sunset.
some people work physical jobs all day and that's a lot harder than just an hour at the gym.

I've been fasting for 12 years and I love ramadhan and during it I'm at my most peaceful state of mind. It's not hard to fast really at least for me. Suhur is like an early breakfast and iftar is dinner but during the day no water or food.

U know what's amazing about Ramadan. At thr beginning of Ramadan you're like no this is going to be hard this year, etc. Once you're in it, you wont even feel like eating, even after breaking fast. Your body automatically demands less during this blessed month. Such is the beauty of fasting.

  • @razan6579
    @razan6579 ปีที่แล้ว

it's always challenging in the first few days then it becomes very easy, also those who are addicted to smocking or coffee etc., struggle the most.
but btw Ramadan this year falls in Spring! but the past few years it fell in the Summer, with longer fasting hours. But you know what's interesting? In a few years, it'll actually fall in the Winter which means we'll have much shorter fasting hours, e.g. in the UK it can go from 19 hours in Summer to just 8 hours in Winter!
SubhanAllah, it's amazing how the timing of Ramadan changes every year and gives us different challenges and opportunities to grow spiritually.

    Slight corrections/clarifications, if you will:
0:40 - he is not a reader, not because he doesn't enjoy reading but because he was literally... illiterate. He *cannot* read, not that he did not want to. But Gabriel insisted and so the prophet (PBUH) tried regardless.
1:40 - from dawn until sunset, not dusk. Dusk is after the light of sunset fades, sunset is when the sun is hidden past the horizon.
2:40 - actually... it follows the lunar calendar so... Ramadan does not start and end at the same time each *solar* year.
6:15 - those are dried dates, dried prunes, mixed nuts & dry fruits, lukoum, baklawa, and tea. An assortment of appetisers and desserts. Would not recommend to substitute for a wholesome and complete meal.

Ramadan is a month of the lunar year, which is 11 days shorter than the standard julian (365 days) year. Therefore, from one year to the next, Ramadan starts around 11 days earlier than in the previous year. For example, the first day of Ramadan this year was March 23rd, which means that next year it will start on or around March 12th, depending on sighting of the new moon. The longest fasting days are those which are in years where Ramadan falls during June. In the Northern hemisphere, fasting during June can be for 16 to 19 hours, because dawn is very early and sunset is around 8:30 pm or later. Fasting days during December are much shorter and can be as little as 6 hours.

There is a unique tradition in my country when we celebrate eid. And that tradition only exists in our country, not even in Islamic countries. The tradition is to give money to those who fasting, initially to appreciate children who start learning to fasting, until it becomes a necessity for companies to provide holiday allowances for workers, and the allowance is equivalent to one month's salary.

It was a basic explanation of Ramadhan, but in Ramadhan their is a lot more things that happened. women who in period can't fasting. Woman who are pregnant can fasting if they want. But most of them have to replace fasting in other mouth before the next Ramadhan. The one who is really cannot fasting during Ramadhan or replace it is a person who are sick and if they fasting that harm them. But they have to pay for Fidyah. Their is more but to explain just about Ramadhan will take a lot of time. Hope this helps...

Fasting in Ramadan is different from fasting on normal days to us. We feel hungry and thirsty if we do intermittent fasting or just voluntary fasting. But in Ramadan we don’t feel hunger and thirst doesn’t matter of it comes in summer or winter. It’s very festive month for us and we love fasting in the month of Ramadan. It’s a time of the year where we are more active in doing good and reflect, focus on ourselves. Besides, dry fasting has many benefits scientifically too.

Just so you guys know, fasting isn't from sunrise to sunset, it's from before sunrise to post sunset. Wich means you can only eat when there is no sunlight out. Also ramadan is 10 days earlier every year so it can fall in December or July or any part of the year.

Fasting is absolutely hard... imagine getting up to eat and pray at maybe like 4 am in the morning and keep fasting till 6 PM without water or food and you still have to work and study.... like I remember one time Ramadan came in the same time as my end of the year exams so I had to wake up in the morning while fasting to concentrate and answer the exam after all of that I'll get home and just get a 30 min nap then get dressed go to the upcoming subject extra course which is far from my house and break my fast there with just 3 dates and water then get home late and eat my meal finally at maybe 8 PM after that I'll keep studying for 2 hours then sleep and repeat the same day again.... it was hard but worth it

    it is small part
Ramadhan also is restrain yourself from:
-Saying bad things (bad words/ talking behind people's back (namima نميمة) / lying ...)
-Having any kind of bad intention (harm people physically or morally)
-any kind of sexual desires (for man, if good looking lady pass by he must look away)
Ramadhan also is about doing & looking for to do good deeds for yourself for your family and for your community
and of course max prayers max quran reading
