Yes, Led Zeppelin's Going to California was a passion project for both Jimmy Page and Robert Plant about Joni Mitchell. When asked about the song Plant said: "When you're in love with Joni Mitchell you've really got to write about it now and again." When performing the song live in concert and singing the line, "to find a Queen without a King, they say she plays guitar and cries and sings" Plant would then half mumur, half whisper the name "Joni". Furthermore that line, "to find a Queen without a King" is a direct reference to Mitchell's song I Had a King, off her 1968 debut album Song to a Seagull.
joni's understanding of loneliness, love, relationships, anxiety, selfishness, trying to be better but always failing, "blue" really is the warmest and most human album ive heard !

Really great line, amazing how soon the jadedness and disillusionment kicked in, this was recorded in 71 when Vietnam was still raging on, the idealistic 'flower power' 60s really had a hard crash into the new decade.
I play this when I'm missing it.... Even though I live just next door, I'll probably never make it back again, by choice, but I got the song that reminds me of it.
Joni and David Crosby are both our 5th cousins. Amazing what we can discover about our past. Moved from Wisconsin/Minnesota to California in 1975. Wished that we could transplant the Wisconsin spirit here though the sun and mountains are fine. 🌾🐡
@@Spiderboyish That is a great question. Do you have proof that you are Remy Swash? DNA tests can be misleading. That isn't even proof. The world does not want trurh--- for the most part. @@carefulcarpenter I asked you this question because there are a lot of people on TH-cam comments claiming that they were at a certain historical event or are friends/family of a certain artist but without proof and therefore information like that may seem skeptical. @Pron Independent recording artist Never---- I live in the mountains above Santa Cruz. We moved here in 1997. I am against paved parking lots, fences, and security cameras. Our newest neighbors came up from San Jose. First week they iformed me that they were building a security fence around their entire property. They did not want their dog to roam. This is actually what we have liked about the neighborhood--- we called it "dog heaven" where dogs are free to roam (and cats ,too). We have a natural habitat up here with deer, bobcats, mountain lions, skunks, racoons, squirrels, rabbits, and once a loose boa constrictor. The new neighbors would like more pavement. Do you know the way to San Jose?
My Father asked me what do people do in California. I replied "Start with designer coffee, enjoy the weather, and the rest is up to you. Works out if you can roll with the punches."
We walked slowly through the mist, the remains of the darkness slowly fading in blue, the smell of sour dough in a time without the meanings of today . We bought a loaf of bread and ripped our ways through it she felt warm between my legs we had found the grass and she sat between my legs shy like a girl and threw bread up to the shadows that flew by and I loved her for it but knew my heart deserved the pain of her leaving.
