Yet the teleplay is full of amazing description that comes alive through remarkable production design, editing, art direction and, of course, very powerful performances of all the actresses, who said everything without uttering a single word. Just watched The Crown for the second time. This scene was brilliant. There will never be another one like the Queen. The actors who portrayed them, their dialogue, and The pipes playing was just perfect..gave me chills. What a remarkable life she and Philip led. RIP 💔 🙏
I’m American, of partial English ancestry, and proud to have Elizabeth as my middle name. God bless Queen Elizabeth. There will never be another like her.

I wish I would have been able to at least meet her for a brief moment and have a quick chat. I can only imagine how she was as strictly as a person but I can honestly see her being very humble and modest.
That was the most beautifully.Sad thing i've ever seen in my life and that cry every time I see it. Queen elizabeth can never be replaced, she was the greatest Queen known. RIP Quenn Elizabeth!

I watched this whole episode again today 😢 And I must say I tuned into all the sensitive implications to a deeper degree. It was beautifully written and acted and I tearfully reflected on Her Majesties' incredible endurance and devotion to her duty right up till her very last day.❤ She was Stellar.
Such a perfect ending to have all 3 queens all together! It must have been such a thrill for everyone there...especially the 3 queens as all 3 are amazing! 😊
I remember after the Queens funeral, me, Woody, my sister Princess of Wales, Mummy Princess of Wales and Woody.EXE we’re together in a personal portrait and I still have it. Woody.EXE is still processing the Queen’s death 2 years on and he’ll always love her even if he only saw her for 45 hours. 2 Septembers ago was intense
I love that this ending really shows the what if conversation if prince Philip and queen Elizabeth's imagined conversation after they passed, like prince Philip escorting while praising his wife to the afterlife/heaven, when the fact that the queen organized her own funeral is the fact that this conversation will be possible to happen. And when Prince Philip leaves her in the last few minutes is like, "Let me leave you for I while so you can reflect on your 70 years of ruling and long term service for the country". And seeing the 4 Elizabeth actresses with no dialogue is like a free style dialogue that the viewers can make up in their heads, here's mine: Her Army self: *salutes "I have done the best that I can as the princess that joined the army to serve her country" Her current self: "I know you did" *turns around and walks away Her as new the monarch and her middle aged self: *appears Her current self: *slightly looks over "Ladies, after 70 years of ruling, we can now finally lift off the heavy crown now and pass it on" Bonus: My imagined final line, if it's been said as a farewell for the show by Imelda Staunton: "Ladies, after retelling the longest reigning monarch of our country her story, and reaching its end after 7 years. We can now go back to Queen Elizabeth's wonderful contributions and rule through this show, that 4 ladies are needed just to retell and to embody the the life of a wonderful person that have finished her time on earth"
I flew into Heathrow the day before her death. I watched a nation mourn the end of an era. I flew out the day after her funeral-I was supposed to fly out the day off, but they curtailed a lot of flights that day. In some ways, I consider it an honor, for even from my country, I saw Queen Elizabeth as a force for good in the UK. I remember seeing the line of mourners, all coming to face the loss of their monarch. I don't see Charles in the same light as I saw his mother, I'm afraid - but it's not my country, I suppose, so what I think matters little.
Dignified, Beautiful, and ultimately heartbreaking. Her younger selves are dressed in black, but the Queen is not. She is dressed to travel, and she gets on with it - one last march, one final audience.
Symbolic that her past selves are in black, as those versions of her are gone and her current self is mourning them, so to speak. Very moving details indeed.
@@adjoho1 and the miniseries Victoria and Albert, the movie Young Victoria, the movie Mrs. Brown and the movie Victoria and Abdul. The last 2 movies Dame Judi Dench was the older Victoria.
The emotions from the scene aren’t just a product of television and wordplay. They come from the deep respect for someone who gave their entire life sacrificing personal desires and doing their duty. Doing one’s duty is not unique to British culture, but it is the factor which made Britain incredibly powerful over generations.
I started to become very fascinated with the monarchy when they found Richard the third remains from there on I dedicated the past 12 years learning about the monarchy. I remember my mom excited to watch Prince William’s wedding when Queen Elizabeth passed away It hit me hard.
It was certainly a shock to me, scrolling through news articles on a school trip to the Canadian Ecology Centre to find the one of The Queens passing... And equally a shock to have to bring the news to everyone else in the main room that "The Queen just died"... But it was only now watching this scene, that the emotions really settled in, the power of the music overcame me, and, tears fell into a hand placed over a heart... Rest in peace Your Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, knowing that your legacy, will continue to shape our humble empire, for a generation yet to come... Signed, a loyal citizen, of the Dominion of Canada, who will stand by the monarchy, for as long as it may persist...
She must have felt lost without him, as if it was all over. But she didn't loose her courage and she carried out her duties till a few days before her death.
I think of this scene less about her, and more about all of us. That at some point we reflect on our mortality and our younger selves to see if our life was worth the experience. And that we all either die young, or age out. Time is inescapable. What we do with it matters. Don’t waste it.
When I see the young Elizabeth saluting the old one I must think of what is written in 2 Timothy 4, 7-8: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."
I wish Philip would've seen the growth the character of him had throughout the series and the amazing man he was shown to be. If only Elizabeth saw this to know that despite decades of controversies and skepticisms, she was still loved by most 😢
Is there any indication that they changed the ending? Filming started before she passed, then paused when she did. I assume all the scripts had already been written by that point. If there’s an interview/article where they say how they changed the ending based on her passing, I’d be interested to read it.
What's loveliest in this scene is that, yes, we see Olivia and Clare again, but you can see Matt Smith in Jonathan Pryce's performance - he's still that young man who was Elizabeth's fiercest supporter. "The essence of your duty" indeed.
This was such a beautiful way to end the series. When i heard that the events in the final season would only show the early 2000's, i thought it would seem like they would be leaving out too much but i was really quite happy with this ❤ I think I'll cherish this series forever, while i knew about the majority of the events that were covered by the Crown, it really did make me start wondering about what types of conversations they'd have behind closed doors

It would have been prophetic except when this scene was filmed, she has passed, and we could already see in motion what they had Philip say. so not really but a great tribute to her nonetheless.
I believe if the beautiful Queen was still alive. Harry and Meghan would not have gotten away with so much! Miss her and I'm an American!
@@kathycatarious5850That’s very gracious of you, thank you. ❤
it is the nature of time. it is our duty to direct that change
This was so well done…a way to remember…and remind all of us of the ticking clock of entropy…that comes for all of us and all things … eventually …
Bloody hell, this was very moving. I haven’t seen the last series of The Crown, perhaps I will now. (2024). I miss her.🏴🇬🇧
Imalda staunton is a great actress- she captures the queens face perfectly- full of sadness - sorrow and bitterness.
Just watched The Crown for the second time. This scene was brilliant. There will never be another one like the Queen. The actors who portrayed them, their dialogue, and The pipes playing was just perfect..gave me chills. What a remarkable life she and Philip led. RIP 💔 🙏
Nothing represents love more than a couple comforting each other ❤
This ending made me cry so bad.
So very beautiful. I cried through the entire ending. God love her, she's resting in peace ❤️
You do realise that it's largely fiction?
@@Rosemary-vf5eieverybody knows. It’s a beautiful tribute to Queen Elizabeth. Take your negativity elsewhere
A great ending.
I’m American, of partial English ancestry, and proud to have Elizabeth as my middle name. God bless Queen Elizabeth. There will never be another like her.
We miss You Sweet Queen😢
I loved how the actress portraying a teenage Elizabeth looks like a younger version of Claire Foy. Great casting!!!!
Oh it was uncanny.
I'm not British. However, I always looked at Her Majesty as being enormously graceful and dignified with a sense of humor and wit that was practically unmatched in the upper levels of society. I wish I would have been able to at least meet her for a brief moment and have a quick chat. I can only imagine how she was as strictly as a person but I can honestly see her being very humble and modest.
She would have been very kind to you.
Love that Claire Foy and Olivia Colman were in this scene!
Not a Monarchist but this is one brought tears. She was an Era
Not a monarchist either, but this hurt. I was an Elizabethan.
Such a powerful scene. Thank you for posting.
That was the most beautifully.Sad thing i've ever seen in my life and that cry every time I see it. Queen elizabeth can never be replaced, she was the greatest Queen known. RIP Quenn Elizabeth!
This scene is one of the best in the whole series. It Made me laugh and cry the ugly cry. Mrs. Staunton should have won the Emmy for this performance alone. Simply the best of the best
4:49 brought me to tears
What an ending!
I watched this whole episode again today 😢
And I must say I tuned into all the sensitive implications to a deeper degree. It was beautifully written and acted and I tearfully reflected on Her Majesties' incredible endurance and devotion to her duty right up till her very last day.❤
She was Stellar.
This part of the series the crown made me cry because she is and was the only queen in my life time
Such a perfect ending to have all 3 queens all together!
And seeing the 4 Elizabeth actresses with no dialogue is like a free style dialogue that the viewers can make up in their heads, here's mine:
Her Army self: *salutes "I have done the best that I can as the princess that joined the army to serve her country"
Her current self: "I know you did" *turns around and walks away
Her as new the monarch and her middle aged self: *appears
Her current self: *slightly looks over "Ladies, after 70 years of ruling, we can now finally lift off the heavy crown now and pass it on"
Bonus:
My imagined final line, if it's been said as a farewell for the show by Imelda Staunton:
"Ladies, after retelling the longest reigning monarch of our country her story, and reaching its end after 7 years. We can now go back to Queen Elizabeth's wonderful contributions and rule through this show, that 4 ladies are needed just to retell and to embody the the life of a wonderful person that have finished her time on earth"
Maybe the best ending I've ever watched in a series.
How was her body dressed ? I do not think it was mentioned .
Symbolic that her past selves are in black, as those versions of her are gone and her current self is mourning them, so to speak. Very moving details indeed.
0:55 "the system makes no sense to anyone to those inside and outside it", the most sensible statement made in this show, the bluntest truth.
When the other 2 Queens appeared beside her, I balled! so beautiful.
3:33 absolute chills
Two great leaders who lead together 70 years . We may never see another like the great Queen Elizabeth II
That conversation! It’s easy to imagine that that was their final conversation with each other. Eternal love and peace to Elizabeth and Philip!
They need to do a similar series about Victoria. A lot of parallels yet a lot of differences too.
Have you not seen Victoria the series? Good lord, man, watch that post haste!
They already did! *wink*
@@alanmichael5619more than once unfortunately
they have done several of Victoria through miniseries and movies both. Her life has been well covered in film.
“When fate summons, even monarchs must obey”
When we stand before God, we are all equal.
I started to become very fascinated with the monarchy when they found Richard the third remains from there on I dedicated the past 12 years learning about the monarchy. I remember my mom excited to watch Prince William’s wedding when Queen Elizabeth passed away It hit me hard.
0:49 her "Phlipp" sounded exactly like Claire foy
She was one of a kind. RIP dear Queen, we miss you! ❤
Honourable conclusion befitting the Queen and a great series
Elizabeth II, our British greatest monarch and head of state that, the, United Kingdom ever saw, and, we will never see of the like again!
We will all have to face a moment like this in our lives about our mortality, even the monarchy, as well such a deep moment.
Very moving. Just finished watching the last season. Sleep Dearie Sleep 😥🏴🇬🇧
I wish Philip would've seen the growth the character of him had throughout the series and the amazing man he was shown to be. If only Elizabeth saw this to know that despite decades of controversies and skepticisms, she was still loved by most 😢
What a beautiful ending with a moving end. So tearjerker 😢❤
I’m curious what the original ending of the show would have been if Queen Elizabeth didn’t die ?
Is there any indication that they changed the ending? Filming started before she passed, then paused when she did. I assume all the scripts had already been written by that point. If there’s an interview/article where they say how they changed the ending based on her passing, I’d be interested to read it.
@@HailSocialiteyes, Peter Morgan said the direction of the last season was changed by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
@@HailSocialiteI’m sure there were ideas on how it will end, but once she passed it helped to solidify a touching tribute at the end.
Good point!!
@@Maxwell_Cambridge I believe this final tribute was written after her death. Look how the coffin looks like hers did.
This is the most beautiful scene ever .
...in my opinion.
What's loveliest in this scene is that, yes, we see Olivia and Clare again, but you can see Matt Smith in Jonathan Pryce's performance - he's still that young man who was Elizabeth's fiercest supporter. "The essence of your duty" indeed.
What a fantastic finish to a great series really brilliantly done bravo
Scene is done perfect including Philip leaving before the queen to symbolize he went on ahead before his wife and queen.
Elizabeth, the Great. The very last of the Royals.
Who can think of any others that for so long devoted their life totally to the British people. Elizabeth II, was a very rare soul and born to fulfill a very rare destiny - and she did it very well.
